This article analyzes the opinions about the system of higher education in Argentina of presidents of private and public universities. The sample consisted of sixteen in-depth interviews with presidents of public and private universities. In the 1990s Argentina, similarly to other Latin American and European countries, initiated profound reforms of its university system The analysis of the interviews shows, that although Argentina's higher education system was traditionally organized around the ethos of public universities and only recently a new but increasingly influential private sector was developed, the opinions of the presidents of both types of universities is rather similar..  We concluded that the type of governance, public or private, is not the most influential dynamic in the opinions of the presidents of these universities, but the particular history and institutional traditions are better explanatory variables.

Several studies address the notion of inclusive higher education from the perspective of access questioning who participates, where, and how in the sense of equity, raising issues of enrolment of disadvantaged groups. This chapter approaches the concept of inclusion in the Ethiopian higher education system from an epistemic access perspective. The argument is that discussions on access to higher education for disadvantaged groups should go beyond mere physical access and should be conceptualized in a manner that reflects educational outcomes and post-enrollment experiences. This chapter aims at exploring the notion of inclusive higher education and epistemic access to students with disabilities in Ethiopian public universities. The study is based on in-depth interviews of 25 students with disabilities from five Ethiopian public universities. The chapter argues that the higher education system in Ethiopia should re-approach the notion of access and take a proactive measure to ensure epistemic access to students with disabilities.

In every nation, it is important that the higher education system fulfils the community expectation for perceived quality. One aspect of improving quality is to adopt a better funding strategy for the facilities that are provided by a university. This chapter focuses on the funding strategy for Egyptian universities. The chapter provides the background to the problem distinguishing between private and public universities thenceforward describes the process, employing the causal diagrams, to prioritise the six most important facility services. The budgeting for these services are individually modelled (using both the qualitative and quantitative system dynamics) and then incorporated into a combined stock and flow model. The models allow a facility service administrator to optimise spending in a particular area and also to rank the spending between the six facilities. The models for private and public universities have the same structure but differ with the data. Results of the analysis are discussed in detail.

The American higher education system consists of over 4,700 institutions educating over twenty-one million students. The most striking feature of this system is its diversity. There is no “typical college.” Much of the story about the future of America’s four-year higher education institutions is found in their differences, not their similarities. Schools are public and private, large and small, elite and open enrollment, tuition dependent and well endowed, liberal arts oriented and vocational. The challenges facing America’s colleges and universities will affect the diverse parts of this system in very different ways. Generalizing about this system can be very dangerous.

In the last decade, Ecuador's higher education system observes substantial changes, whose dynamics has stressed marked transformations within universities. This work follows the research from the perspective of internal governance, to make an approach to the prevailing models in universities involved in the study. The analysis considers a systemic approach, where the term governance is associated with the government's ability to define the work of higher education institutions and forms of internal organization to fulfill the role granted. The study is documentary type eminently qualitative, based on sources of information obtained from official websites of universities and various higher education organizations. In a complementary manner, a questionnaire was applied through a survey to advisers from the same institutions to confirm or contrast the conclusions generated. The principles of governance considered in the study are autonomy, academic freedom, accountability, participation and institutional representation. The results show that the control mechanisms implemented by the State influence within universities and shape differences in models exercised governance.

Student satisfaction is an outcome of the insight of service quality provided by the university. Government of Bangladesh introduces private universities in 1992 because of huge demand in higher education. Currently, there are 103 private universities, forty-three public universities and three international universities in Bangladesh. But it is a matter of sorrow that, universities are increasing day by day but the qualities of universities are not satisfactory. This study is a comparative study conducted on two universities (one is Rangamati Science and Technology University (public) and another one is Premier University (private). The study was pointed out academic services in the private and the public universities. Based on the review of literature a questionnaire was developed and it was distributed among 120 students. The total 120 respondents have been drawn probabilistically from 2 universities. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis have been used to analyze the data and to draw the findings. It has been found that satisfaction level of the private university students is not up to the mark. Finally, few suggestions have made to increase satisfaction of the university students in Bangladesh. Results revealed that students from Rangamati Science and Technology university (public) and Premier University (private) hold different opinion whether their expectation met or not.

The purpose of this study was to develop an approach to assessing the potential of teachers for the possibility of introducing quality standards of the educational process according to AUN-QA in the higher education system of Vietnam. A survey of teachers and managers of 6 private universities in Ho Chi Minh City was carried out, aimed at assessing the quality of university teachers and their potential to AUN-QA standards. The number of respondents was 172 teachers and 42 managers of the studied universities. Evaluation of the survey responses was made on a 4-point Likert scale. Using the SPSS 22.0 software package, statistical processing of the results of the questionnaire survey of teachers was carried out. By means of questionnaires, an assessment of the need (urgency) and the possibility of implementing measures aimed at increasing the teaching potential was carried out. A pedagogical experiment was carried out, which involved the passage of training for teachers in order to increase the pedagogical potential: the development of the theoretical base and practical skills in the application of teaching methods, such as Teaching simulation, Teaching case studies, Learning project, Teaching by situation, Lecture, Problem solving, Teaching in groups, Practical methods, experiments, Training method, review. The experiment involved 61 teachers from Van Lang University. According to the results of the experiment, a statistically significant increase in the level of methodological knowledge of teachers and skills for their implementation was revealed. The results obtained are of practical importance and can serve as a basis for solving numerous problems of higher education in the country. They can also be used to improve the quality of educational services, the effectiveness of reforms in the education system of Vietnam.

Abstract: Higher education is acknowledged today as a capital investment and is of paramount importance for economic and social development of a country (Barnet, 1990). Some specialists called attention that the present higher education system employs rote memorization approach rather than critical thinking by students. It is, therefore, needed not only to relook at our pedagogy of teaching and learning principles including methods but also to revitalize the higher education system. Although Bangladesh has had a long history of university teaching, pedagogy has hardly entered the imagination of university educators. Today’s teachers are yesterday’s students, with each generation being groomed in the same cultural patterns of learning that are continually repeated without examination. Pedagogy teaches teachers how to teach, so that they may effectively teach students how to learn; it offers important training for teachers to transform students from mere parrots of information into challengers of and innovators of knowledge. Earlier public sector had monopoly in the tertiary level of education. In 1992 private sector started its function. Within a short span of time more than ninety private universities have started their action. The Emergence and the growth of the private universities in Bangladesh have taken a phenomenal shape in recent years. However, the private universities are playing an important role in spreading the opportunities of higher education in our country. But in recent years a widespread allegations were raised against PUs that some are selling certificates, easy-to-get degrees, very poor teaching qualities, poor infrastructure, high tuition fees, etc. In this context this study is an initiative to explore the education quality (EQ) of PUs that is offered by them. This paper analyses the existing pedagogy, teaching style, quality education, capability of teachers to teach students and infrastructure of the Private University of Bangladesh.

Purpose Within a connectivist learning model, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the adoption of social media for educational purposes in India, a hitherto unexplored area of research. The basic research thrust is on students’ experiences when social media is incorporated into higher education. This research tries to gather evidence on the effectiveness of this role and its potential future role as a facilitator and enhancer of learning in the Indian system. Design/methodology/approach The current research draws on the perspectives of the students regarding the adoption of social media for educational purposes. The data collection was done in two separate stages. Stratified random sampling was applied and a structured questionnaire was sent via e-mail. Usable responses were received from 568 respondents. The second stage consisted of an exploratory qualitative study using in-depth interviews and reflections of 250 students from the original sample. Findings Four clear themes emerged from the responses collected via the structured questionnaire and particularly from the in-depth interviews. These include: widespread usage of social media, definite usage in business education, strengths of social media in business education and the flip side of learning with social media. One thing is certain: social media will continue to play an important role in the Indian education sector. A number of colleges and universities in India are including social media in their pedagogy, but the challenge lies in effectively aligning it with curriculum. Practical implications Despite the widespread use of online social media for communication and entertainment, the use in the educational sphere seems to be less. This year-long study tries to gather evidence on all these issues. No doubt social media’s contribution in the classroom depicts a rising interest in technology as a tool to assist learning but it also reinforces a paradigm shift in the way students learn. Social implications With nearly a billion people on mobile phones, the online system certainly has vast potential to create the right kind of learning. As this study has shown at a micro-level, technology-led reach and easy access is bringing about a socio-economic difference in the lives of Indian learners. While this study certainly supports digital learning in India it points out that higher educational institutions are yet to exploit its full advantage for better student engagement. Originality/value One key characteristic of this generation is that they are very education oriented. Due to the relative freshness of the approach in India and fairly restricted use in the Indian higher education system, empirical studies are limited and the impact of social media on student engagement in the higher education system in India is not known.

This paper examines the entrepreneurship education programs present at the univer­sities in Republic of North Macedonia. The analysis covers the overall higher education system, including both state and private universities. The authors use qualitative content analysis in order to explore and compare different aspects of the programs, including: objectives and expected outputs of the entrepreneurial program, its content, learning and grading methods, quality as­surance and literature list. The findings of this work are expected to raise awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship education in the country and to serve as evidence for the relevant stakeholders to deliver more competitive, innovative and business supporting educational system.
