The study was performed using the solidarity approach proposed by E. L. Omelchenko. The term "solidarity" is convenient to study the contemporary developments in youth culture as it does not require a direct interaction of subjects, the unity of time and space in which they act. The aim of the work is to study the features of solidarity formation among street artists in graffiti tourism. The empirical material is the case study of Samara street artist Art Abstractov, who has many years of experience in graffiti tourism. The author identifies two stages in the organization and implementation of graffiti tourism: on-line and off-line stages. Considering the first stage, the author describes the role of electronic resources in the development of the street art culture: blog electronic databases, specialized sites such as Art Crimes, 149 St., graffiti.org, Ekosystem, ViVaCity.ru, Petrograff.ru, Vltramarine, social networks such as Livejournal, VKontakte, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, image hosting sites such as Flickr, Pinterest, etc. The paper examines the specifics of social networking among street artists at the international level and the nature of solidarity in the virtual space between the street artists not personally known to each other. The second stage of graffiti tourism is considered as a form of consolidation of solidarities among street artists from different countries. The author describes the role of the host and the benefits that the tourist gets from such trips. The author comes to the conclusion that solidarity is transformed into other forms of social communities over time and helps to enter a new social environment.

The chapter discusses how Manuel Palaiologos’ texts reveal not only the emperor’s standpoints in his attempts to answer political challenges, but also a long-term imperial project that sought to establish a system of effective political communication by exhibiting his fatherly concern for his son and co-emperor. This project involved two stages with changing approaches. In the first stage, the emperor strengthened his connections with the literati and frequently chaired theatra. The letters and the dialogic mode of his text on marriage point to the fact that during the last decade of the fourteenth century, the emperor did not have at his disposal too many possibilities of circulating his political messages except for the rather informal meetings in the framework of theatra. In a second stage, which chronologically coincided with the years following the emperor’s return from the West, Manuel attempted to consolidate his ruling position by highlighting in the Foundations and the Orations that he appointed his son, John, as successor. In the absence of a more substantial body of court rhetoricians, the emperor undertook the role of a social-political commentator and accordingly put forward a personal discourse on imperial authority.

This study aims to describe the role of the madrasah principal in improving teachers’ performance. This was a descriptive qualitative study. Observation, interviews, and documentation were used to collect the data. The source of data were the principal and teachers of MTsN 4 Muko-muko. Data were analyzed in two stages: the first stage was preliminary observation and the second stage was the research which included three steps, namely data reduction, data display, and data verification. Trustworthiness data were tested by conducting triangulation. The result indicated that principal leadership in improving the quality of teachers’ performance included Discipline Development Supervision Program (PPD), Supervision and Evaluation (SDE) activity, and Learning Program Planning. These findings are the basic of how discipline, supervision, and learning program planning become the indicators of guidance to improve the quality of teachers’ performance.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the role of the religious factor in the development of the sub-ethnic national movement studying the case of the Kryashens. The study is based on Jose Casanova’s concept of the religious revival. Following Casanova, the author assumes that religious identity can become the basis of an ethnic identity only if religion transforms from a state-oriented institution into an institution oriented towards the society and actively participating in its improvement. At the same time, revealing the dynamic nature of the formation of the (sub)ethnic groups, the author relies on the ethnosymbolic concept of John Hutchinson, which focuses on the importance of the ethnically significant symbols. In the case of the Kryashens a religious marker represents such a symbol. The article examines in detail two stages of the Kryashens’ religious revival. The first stage occurred in the second half of the 19th century and was associated primarily with the missionary activity of Nikolay Ilminsky. The second stage started in 1989 and continues today. The research carried out by the author lends unequivocal support to the idea that religion played a key role in the formation of an original Kryashen ethno-cultural identity. At the same time, it shows that within Kryashens’ religiosity the vector is directed from society to religion rather than from religion to society. Their religious identity is instrumental. However, although there are very few ultra-religious people in the Kryashen community and most of the Kryashens are secularized, religion remains one of the most important markers of their ethnic identity.

the main aim of campus network is to efficiently separate, share and access knowledge among its users. The big demand of such systems of distributed knowledge networks is to be able to handle advanced applications which are the end-user requirements. The main goal of this study is to assess the ability of WLAN campus to dealing with applications request of end users in education establishments and network achievement under different conditions of operation. The study has been conducted in two stages: the first stage was accomplished by conducting a survey, using the Student Village network at Anglia Ruskin University as a case study; the main aim was to determine end-use requirements, gather information about the nature applications running by users and get a view about the likely future applications. The second stage was achieved by conducting experiments to evaluate the WLAN campus network performance under various different scenarios: impact of handover from Access Point (AP) to another AP on end-user link performance, network performance in different usage time and network performance in different weather conditions.

PurposeThis article aims to increase the understanding of the role of individual actors and arenas in dealing with multiple institutional logics in family firms.Design/methodology/approachThis study follows a case-study approach of two family-owned newspaper companies. Based on interviews and secondary sources, the empirical material was analysed focussing on three institutional logics, that is, family logic, management logic and journalistic logic.FindingsFirst, the authors show how and in which arenas competing logics are balanced in family-owned newspaper companies. Second, the authors highlight that family owners are central actors in the process of balancing different institutional logics. Further, they analyse how family members can become hybrid owner-managers, meaning that they have access to all institutional logics and become central actors in the balancing process.Originality/valueThe authors reveal how multiple institutional logics are balanced in family firms by including formal actors and arenas as additional lenses. Therefore, owning family members, especially hybrid owner-managers, are the best-suited individual actors to balance competing logics. Hybrid owner-managers are members of the owner families who are also skilled in one or several professions.

An overview of challenges within hydrodynamic verification of deep-water offshore structures is given first. The role of model testing in the verification, as well as a range of relevant measured responses, are discussed. Various solutions for experimental verification of deep-water structures are considered. In particular, the combination of model tests with truncated set-up and computer simulations—the hybrid approach—is discussed. Two basic groups of hybrid methods are identified: Active (on-line) and passive (off-line). Most published works are on passive systems, of which a particular method is described. Case study examples with this procedure are reviewed and discussed, and future challenges are commented.

In a time of global nursing shortages an alarming number of young registered nurses have expressed a willingness to leave the profession. In this qualitative case study we investigate in depth why young nurses leave nursing profession and reeducate themselves for a new career. The study is based on longitudinal interviews of three young registered nurses in Finland. These nurses were first interviewed between December 2006 and May 2007, when they were 29–32 years old and having an intention to leave the profession. The second interview took place four years later, from January 2011 to March 2011 when all of them had made the transition to a new career. Data were analyzed in two stages. In the first stage, comprehensive career story narratives were formed on the basis of the interviews. In the second stage, emerging themes in these stories were compared, contrasted, and interpreted in the context of the overall career histories. Nursing as a second career choice and demanding work content as well as poor practice environment and the inability to identify with the stereotypical images of nurses were main themes that emerged from these career stories. The results of this interpretative qualitative study reflect a shift toward insights into understanding professional turnover as a complex and long-lasting process.

Observations for the Parkes 2700 MHz catalogue are carried out in two stages: (i), a relatively fast finding survey, followed by (ii), accurate measurement (at 2700 MHz) of flux densities and positions of the sources on the survey scans. For the first six parts of the catalogue intervals of several weeks between the stages resulted from the necessity to reduce the (analogue) survey scans manually. This communication describes a computer program which records and reduces these scans, and which produces an on-line map and source listing for the survey region. Thus the measurements of the second stage may be carried out immediately after the survey; additional advantages provided by the technique are discussed later in the paper.

AbstractAs many social movements demonstrate, humor can serve as an important resource to resist oppression, fight social injustice and bring social change. Existing research has focused on humor’s role within social movements and its positive effects on the free expression of criticism, reduction of fear, communication, mobilization of participants and so on. However, the current literature on the activist use of humor also expresses some reservations about its political efficacy. While humor may steam off the energy necessary to counteract oppression and injustice, other tools of achieving the same political ends have been successfully deployed, primarily social media. Building upon this research, the present case study explores the 2016 Macedonian social movement called the Colorful Revolution. In particular, through the analysis of social media and activists’ reflection on the political use of humor, this case study examines how on-line humor contributed to the emergence and development of the movement. Factoring in activists’ opinions on the role of humor in society and especially in movements, while also paying attention to the role of social media, this case study tends to re-interpret the role of humor in the totality of the actions and circumstances underpinning the development of a social movement.

Perubahan fungsi yang terjadi pada dua koridor memberikan dampak berupa gangguan lalu lintas akibat on street parking dan perubahan sirkulasi jalan.</p><p> </p><p>Kata kunci: komersial, perumahan, perubahan fungsi, tipomorfologi</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p align="center"><strong><em>ABSTRACT</em></strong></p><p><em>The phenomenon of making a home as a business house in several residential areas is indicated by the entry of a new function into a homogeneous function. The presence of commercial activities in residential areas will result in changes in the physical and non-physical occupancy scope of the occupancy. This research was conducted in two stages, the first stage identified the methods used to analyze changes in land functions. The second stage is testing the method chosen in the case study on a change in the function of the residential area in the city of Bandung. The method identification results found that typomorphology can be used to explain changes of a type, where a type has certain characteristics that can distinguish it from other types. The function change process that occurs in the Hasanudin Corridor and Prof. Eykman is strongly influenced by the activities of hospitals and universities so that the pattern of development that occurs is a linear invasion pattern and a pattern of radial dominance. Function changes that occur in the two corridors have an impact in the form of traffic disruption due to on street parking and changes in road circulation.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>Keywords: commercial, housing, function change, typomorphology</em></p>
