This study was conducted in order to verify the role of social support and coping strategies as moderators of the relationship between perceived stress and the subjective well-being of transgender people, which is lower than cisgenders’ people. 355 people took part in this study (124 transgender people and 231 cisgender people) between age of 18 and 53. Subjective well-being has been operationalized using the Satisfaction With life Scale SWLS. Measurement of the perceived stress was made using the Perceived Stress Scale PSS-10. Coping strategies were examined using the Mini-COPE inventory. Additionally, two subscales of the Berlin Social Support Scales BSSS were used to measure received and perceived social support. Transgender people scored on the SWB scale significantly lower than cisgender people. Received and perceived social support did not turn out to be a significant moderators of the relationship between perceived stress and the subjective well-being. Only one of the coping strategies turned out to be an significant moderator of this relationship – venting of emotions. Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic mental illness that strongly affects not only the patients with schizophrenia, but also their families and close relatives. So far, family research on patients with schizophrenia has mainly focused on parents, but has neglected siblings. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the well-being of 103 siblings of patients with schizophrenia within the Lazarus and Folkman’s Transactional Coping and Stress Model. Materials: A Sociodemographic Information Form, Subjective Well-being Scale, Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, Ways of Coping Scale and Shortened Perceived Parental Rearing Styles Form were administered to the siblings of patients with schizophrenia. Results: The results of this study revealed that well-being was associated with perceived mother overprotection, perceived social support, problem-focused coping and indirect coping. Social support moderated the relationship between burden and well-being as a buffering factor. Conclusion: Therefore, siblings of patients with schizophrenia should be given access to social support and their problem-focused coping strategies should be strengthened. Besides, parents should be supported to provide suitable care for the siblings of patients with schizophrenia.

Abstract Aims: The purpose of this study was to test the associations between spiritual needs, perceived social support, spiritual well-being, and quality of life (QoL) and examine the multiple mediating effects of perceived social support and spiritual well-being on the relationship between spiritual needs and QoL among patients with advanced cancer.Methods: Spiritual needs, perceived social support, spiritual well-being and QoL were assessed using self-report questionnaires among 286 cancer patients in a tertiary oncology hospital. The mediation model was analysed using the SPSS PROCESS procedure, and indirect effects were evaluated with bootstrapping.Results: QoL was positively correlated with spiritual needs (r=0.315, p<0.01), perceived social support (r=0.451, p<0.01) and spiritual well-being (r=0.636, p<0.01). The relationship between spiritual needs and QoL was mediated by perceived social support (indirect effect: 0.063, confidence interval (CI) (0.018, 0.118)) and spiritual well-being (indirect effect: 0.068, CI (0.001, 0.155)) and serially mediated by spiritual needs and QoL (indirect effect: 0.072, CI (0.041, 0.113)).Conclusions: The results emphasize the importance of spiritual well-being and social support for cancer patients, especially those with more spiritual needs. They suggest that healthcare providers should develop strategies to enhance perceived social support and spiritual well-being when caring for cancer patients to improve patients’ QoL.

This study aims to examine a relationship between hope, religiosity, social support, resilience and subjective well being of 455 bidik misi students University Negeri Semarang.. The research method used was correlation with random sampling as sampling technique. The data was collected by 5 scale they are hope scales using the expectation scale for adult cognitive models from Snyder, social support scales using multidimensional scales of perceived social support, subjective scales using oxford happines inventory, resilience scales using resilience scales from Reivich and Sheite, whereas religiosity was measured using the scale of religiosity. To analyze the relationship, correlational product of moment parson is used. The results showed that the correlation between subjective well being and hope outcome was 0.155, the correlation between subjective wellbeing and religiosity was 0.148, correlation between subjective well being and social performance was 0.148, Correlation between subjective well being and resilience was 0.473, and there are simultaneous influence of hope, social support, religiosity and resilience, to subjective well-being. The conclusion of this study was hope, religiosity, social support, and resilience is a predictor of subjective well being.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of empowering leadership at the team level on employees’ subjective well-being (SWB) and work performance through perceived social support. Based on social exchange theory (Blau, 1964), the study identifies the mediating effects of perceived social support in the relationship between empowering leadership and both employees’ well-being and work performance. Design/methodology/approach The study utilized a survey of 1,225 employees working for an organization in South Korea and archival data of the organization. It employed hierarchical linear modeling analyses and the CWC(M) procedure for the tests of multilevel mediation. Findings It was observed that perceived organizational support (POS) and co-worker support (PCS) mediated the relationship between empowering leadership and SWB, but not the relationship between empowering leadership and performance. There was a significant direct effect of empowering leadership on both POS and PCS, which subsequently led to improved work performance. Originality/value Taking a multilevel approach to leadership and relying on both self-reported and organizational archival data, this study contributes to the literature on leadership and well-being by examining the relationships between empowering leadership toward a team and team members’ well-being and performance, and by revealing the crucial mechanisms that underlie them. The study helps to elucidate the impact of empowering leadership on employee SWB, which has largely been neglected in prior management research.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between high school students’ social support, career adaptability and subjective well-being that are perceived from their family, teachers and friends. The study group consisted of 325 students (193 girls, 132 males) in three secondary schools located in Cukurova and Yuregir districts of Adana city. The data were collected through Career Adaptability Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule and Perceived Social Support Scale and Personal Information Form developed by the researchers to reach the demographic information of the participants. A path analysis was conducted within the framework of structural equation modeling to investigate the relationship between social support, career adaptability and subjective well-being that the students perceived. Data analysis was done through SPSS and AMOS package programs. Correlation coefficients of arithmetic mean, standard deviation, pearson moment analysis were calculated, and path analysis was performed based on the observed variables. The research findings show that there is a significant relationship between subjective well-being, career adaptability and perceived social support. The perceived social support from family, teachers and friends are variables that predict the career adaptability of high school students. Career adaptability has also been found to be a significant predictor of subjective well-being.

Abstract. Conflict avoidance increases across the adult lifespan. This cross-sectional study looks at conflict avoidance as part of a mechanism to regulate belongingness needs ( Sheldon, 2011 ). We assumed that older adults perceive more threats to their belongingness when they contemplate their future, and that they preventively react with avoidance coping. We set up a model predicting conflict avoidance that included perceptions of future nonbelonging, termed anticipated loneliness, and other predictors including sociodemographics, indicators of subjective well-being and perceived social support (N = 331, aged 40–87). Anticipated loneliness predicted conflict avoidance above all other predictors and partially mediated the age-association of conflict avoidance. Results suggest that belongingness regulation accounts may deepen our understanding of conflict avoidance in the second half of life.
