Komposisi dan vegetasi ekosistem mangrove pada suatu kawasan yang tumbuh di pulau-pulau kecil umumnya tidak sama dan tergantung kepada ekologi dari ekosistem pulau tersebut. Tujuan ini penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh informasi dari komposisi, struktur vegetasidan jenis mangrove yang hidup pada masing-masing pulau kecil di kawasan Pasaman Barat. Metode ang digunakan adalah survei lapangan untuk mendapatkan jenis, komposisi dan struktur vegetasi dari masing-masing pulau dengan melakukan teknik  transek kuadrat. Pada penelitian yang telah dilakukan di beberapa tiga pulau di Kabupaten Pasaman Barat (pulau Taming, pulau Harimau, dan pulau Panjang) menunjukkan bahwa ke tiga pulau tersebut telah teridentifikasi tumbuhan 15 spesies, 11 famili, 2 famili dan 5 spesies merupakan masuk pada kategori mangrove sejati dan spesies dominan adalah R. stylosa dengan indek nilai penting (IVi) untuk tingkat pohon 192,88% di pulau Taming, pulau Harimau 36 spesies, 24 famili, 9 spesies dan 4 famili masuk pada mangrove sejati, spesies dominan R. apiculata, (IVi ) adalah 229,82%, sedangkan pada pulau Panjang 18 spesies, 14 famili, dimana 5 spesies dan 2 famili masuk kategori mangrove sejati, spesies dominan R. mucronata dengan (IVi ) 92,98%. Dari masing-masing pulau menunjukkan komposisi, struktur vegetasi dan kedominan speises yang berbeda dan ini disebabkan oleh perbedaan  subtrat yang dominan yang terdapat pada masing-masing pulau. Kata kunci: komposisi; vegetasi; mangrove, pulau-pulau kecil; Pasaman Barat Composition and vegetation of mangrove ecosystem in an area including that grown in small islands is different and depends on ecology and ecosystem of the islands. The purpose of the research is for getting the information of composition, vegetation structure and mangrove type that grown an each small islands in west Pasaman area. The method use was a survey of the field to get the type, composition and vegetation structure of each island by using transectsquares technique.In the research that has been done on several islands in the West Pasaman (Taming Island, Harimau Island, and Panjang Island), have been identified plants on Tamang Island that had 15 species and 11 families, which 2 families and 5 spesies were categorized as true mangroves and the dominant spesies is R. stylosa with important value index (IVi) is 192.88%, on Harimau Island found 36 species and 24 families, which 9 species and 4 families were categorized as true mangroves and the dominant is R. apiculata with 229.82% (Vi), while on Panjang Island found 18 plant species and 14 families, which 5 species and 2 families were categorized as true mangroves, the dominant species is R. mucronata with 92.98%. From each island showed composition, vegetation structure and different dominant spesies and this different is caused by the dominant substrate fand on each island. Mangrove forest is a vegetation that grows in the estuary beaches and who has the function of ecological, biological, economic and social culture, but now its existence has been degraded by the use of a less appropriate or changing function. Research on the structure of mangrove forest vegetation in the Wasti Bay Sowi IV Manokwari District of Southern District Manokwari conducted in April 2018 with the aim to determine the structure of mangrove forest vegetation and utilization. The method used in this research is the approach of ecological (biological) and anthropological approach. From the analysis of vegetation, found as many as 8 species of mangrove plants. Rhizophora apiculata is the dominant species on the level of a tree with a Density Value of 784.66 Individuals/Ha with an Important Value Index (IVI) 50.06 followed Rhizophora mucronata with a Density Value of 770.34 Individuals/Ha with the Important Value Index (IVI) 41.01. At the level of belta Rhizophora mucronata is the dominant species with a Density Value of 385.66 Individuals/Ha with the Important Value Index (IVI) 45.13 then Rhizophora apiculata with a Density Value of 263.33 Individuals/Ha with the Important Value Index (IVI) 40.22. At the seedling stage Rhizophora mucronata a dominant species with a Density Value of 760.00 Individuals/Ha with the Important Value Index (IVI) 45.42 and Rhizophora apiculata had Density Value of 681.66 Individuals/Ha with the Important Value Index (IVI) 41.04. Based on interviews of 8 mangrove species found in the observation plot, 3 species used as building material, 6 species as a source of firewood, 3 species as drugs and 5 species for other purposes.

Abstrak : Rehabilitasi mangrove merupakan salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengurangi laju kerusakan hutan mangrove di Indonesia salah satunya di kawasan Teluk Gerupuk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi mangrove hasil rehabilitasi di Teluk Gerupuk dengan mebandingkan struktur vegetasi mangrove di kawasan tersebut dengan ekosistem mangrove alami. Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April-Juni 2019 di dua kawasan hutan mangrove di pesisir selatan pulau Lombok yaitu hutan mangrove alami desa Pemongkong dan hutan mangrove rehabilitasi Teluk Gerupuk. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode transek berpetak dengan ukuran petak 10 x 10 m untuk tipe pohon, sub petak 5 x 5 m untuk tipe pancang, dan petak semai berukuran 2 x 2 m. Terdapat 11 spesies mangrove ditemukan di dalam plot penelitian dengan persebaran spesies yaitu 8 spaesies ditemukan di hutan mangrove alami Pemongkong dan hanya 7 spesies ditemukan di hutan mangrove rehabilitasi Gerupuk. Spesies mangrove yang dimaksud termasuk ke dalam 4 famili yaitu Avicenniaceae (Avicennia alba, A. marina, A. lanata), Rhizophoraceae (Ceriops decandra, C. tagal, Rhizophora apiculata, R. mucronata, R. stylosa), Rubiaceae (Scyphiphora hydrophyllaceae) dan Sonneratiaceae (Sonneratia alba, S. casiolaris). Struktur vegetasi kedua ekosistem sangat berbeda terlihat pada vegetasi penyusunnya. Hutan mangrove alami Pemongkong didominasi oleh jenis Sonneratia alba dan Avicennia alba yang memiliki Indeks nilai penting (INP) untuk tipe pohon dan pancang dengan nilai masing-masing 132,37 dan 141,52, sedangkan hutan mangrove rehabilitasi didapatkan INP tertinggi pada tipe pohon dan pancang yaitu jenis R. apiculata dan R. stylosa dengan INP berturut-turut 140,5 dan 116,41. Rehabilitasi hutan mangrove dengan metode yang selama ini dilakukan telah mengubah struktur vegetasi hutan mangrove di Pulau Lombok yang juga dapat mempengaruhi fauna asosiasi dan ekosistem sekitar mangrove. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan perencanaan serta analisis terlebih dahulu terhadap lokasi tujuan rehabilitasi mangrove agar untuk terbentuknya hutan mangrove rehabilitasi yang lebih sesuai dengan biota asosiasi dan ekosistem sekitar yang telah ada sebelumnya.Kata Kunci : Struktur Komunitas, Mangrove, Alami, RehabilitasiAbstract : Rehabilitation of mangrove vegetation was an effort in order to decrease the rate of mangrove ecosystem destruction. This research aimed to determine the vegetation structure and the community status of natural and rehabilitation mangrove forest at South Lombok seashore. This research held on March – June 2019 at two types of mangrove ecosystem such as natural ecosystem at pemongkong, East Lombok and rehabilitation ecosystem at Gerupuk bay, Central Lombok. Data collection used plotted transect method by placed a plot sized 10x 10 m alternately. There are 11 species of mangrove found which belong to 4 families such as Avicenniaceae (Avicennia alba, A. marina, A. lanata), Rhizophoraceae (Ceriops decandra, C. tagal, Rhizophora apiculata, R. mucronata, R. stylosa), Rubiaceae (Scyphiphora hydrophyllaceae) and Sonneratia (Sonneratia alba, S. casiolaris). Vegetation structure in these 2 location was different based on the composition each vegetation and it proportion. Natural mangrove forest in pemongkong dominated by Sonneratia alba with importance value reached 132,37, meanwhile the rehabilitation area of mangrove ecosystem Gerupuk dominated by Rhizophora apiculata with number of importance value reached 140,5. These differences drove the value of persent of similarity (PS) between these ecosystem only reached 10.41% which categorized as low similarity. Mostly of rehabilitation of mangrove ecosystem conducted cause the alteration of vegetation structure of mangrove in Lombok coastal and affect the mangrove associated fauna and ecosystems. In that case, it really important to analys the condition of mangrove rehabilitation plan location to determine the mangrove species to plant in order to formed a rehabilitiation of mangrove area which more compatible to its associated biota and ecosystems.Keyword : Structure, Mangrove, Natural, Rehabilitation

AbstractForests in Northeast China in the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains (GKM and LKM) account for nearly 1/3 of the total state-owned forests in the country. Regional and historical comparisons of forest plants and macrofungi will favor biological conservation, forest management and economic development. A total of 1067 sampling plots were surveyed on forest composition and structure, with a macrofungi survey at Liangshui and Huzhong Nature Reserves in the center of two regions. Regional and historical differences of these parameters were analyzed with a redundancy ordination of their complex associations. There were 61–76 families, 189–196 genera, and 369–384 species, which was only 1/3 of the historical records. The same dominant species were larch and birch with Korean pine (a climax species) less as expected from past surveys in the LKM. Shrub and herb species were different in the two regions, as expected from historical records. There was 10–50% lower species diversity (except for herb evenness), but 1.8- to 4-time higher macrofungi diversity in the GKM. Compared with the LKM, both tree heights and macrofungi density were higher. Nevertheless, current heights averaging 10 m are half of historical records (> 20 m in the 1960s). Edible macrofungi were the highest proportion in both regions, about twice that of other fungal groups, having important roles in the local economy. A major factor explaining plant diversity variations in both regions was herb cover, followed by shrubs in the GKM and herb-dominant species in the LKM. Factors responsible for macrofungi variations were tree density and shrub height. Vaccinium vitis-idaea and Larix gmelinii in the GKM but tree size and diversity were important factors in the LKM. Our findings highlighted large spatial and historical differences between the GKM and LKM in plant-macrofungal composition, forest structure, and their complex associations, which will favor precise conservation and management of forest resources in two region in the future.

Carriacou is a small island situated about twenty miles to the north of the island of Grenada, the chief of the Windward group, and furnished an excellent site for the observation of the last solar eclipse. Most of the observers sent by the Eclipse Committee of the Royal Society to the West Indies in August of last year remained at Grenada, or on the small islands in its immediate vicinity, whilst Mr. Maunder and myself occupied the more distant northern station, where the totality was slightly diminished in duration. The work proposed for Mr. Maunder was to secure a series of photographs of the corona, with exposures of 40s. and under, and also to obtain two photographs of the spectrum of the corona with the longest exposures possible.

Abstract:The present study aims to investigate the effects of vegetation structure (plant abundance and height) and soil characteristics (soil organic matter and macronutrients) on insect gall richness, and determine the extent to which these effects are mediated by the indirect effects of plant species richness. The study was performed in forty-nine 100-m2 savanna plots in Parque Nacional das Emas (Brazil) and sampled a total of 985 individual plants of 71 plant species and 97 insect gall morphotypes. Cecidomyiidae (Diptera) induced the most insect galls (38.1%), and the plant family Myrtaceae had the greatest richness of insect gall morphotypes (16). Path analysis of plant abundance, plant height, soil macronutrients, soil organic matter and plant species richness explained 73% of insect gall richness. The results show that soil macronutrient quantity has a direct positive effect on insect gall richness, whereas plant abundance and plant height had only indirect positive effects on insect gall richness via the increase in plant species richness. These findings showed that both plant-related and environment-related factors are important to induce insect gall richness in Neotropical savannas, and that plant species richness should be taken into account to determine the richness of insect galls.

BKPH Tampomas is part of the FMU area of Sumedang entirely classified into protected forest area. However, part of treated as CBFM with the aim of involfing the community in forest concervation activities the aim of this research is to describe and compare the structure and composition of the plant species between the subjected to CBFM and non CBFM Tampomas. The reaserch location was based on forest status of the protected area as having the same stand age and tree spacing. Data collection conducted throught the analysis of vegetation and soil sampling at each observation location species richness of BKPH Tampomas protection forest was relatively low either non CBFM of protected forest, CBFM protection forest of coffe and CBFM protection forest of cardamon. At the level of seedling stage there are 9 species and Calliandra haematocephala, the dominant. Species at the pole stage are found 3 species with Pinus merkusii species as the dominant species, at the tree stage are 2 species that dominated by Pinus merkusii. The covercrop found were 30 species and dominated by Lepturus repens. The low soil fertility and sandy soil texture composition also account for the low plant species in the BKPH Tampomas protection forest areas.Key words : CBFM cardamon, CDFM coffee, species composition, structure vegetation, Tampomas Mountain

Abstract Mangrove forests are natural resources in coastal areas that have an important role in terms of social, economic and ecological aspects. However, the utilization of the mangrove ecosystem makes it vulnerable to damage. This study aims to determine the level of public knowledge of the economic, ecological benefits and damage that happened to mangrove areas in Tarakan City. The scoring method was used to determine the total score or the total score of the respondents’ answers, which amount to 50 people. that the community’s knowledge of the economic benefits of mangrove forests was categorized as know for the benefits of mangroves as firewood, mangrove areas as a place for settlement, mangroves as a place to get fish and mangrove benefits as aquaculture areas with total scores of 226, 200, 232,230 respectively. However, the level of community knowledge about the benefits of mangroves as a medicinal ingredient obtained a total score of 164, which means the level of community knowledge was in the doubtful category. While the level of community knowledge of the ecological benefits of mangrove forests as coastline guards, sea wave barriers, sea wind protectors, and animal breeding sites were included in the category of “Know” with a total score of 228, 224, 234, 240 respectively, but the level of knowledge The community regarding the benefits of mangroves that can manage household waste was in the “doubtful” category with a total score of 128. The community was aware of the damage to mangrove forest ecosystems caused by garbage, logging / mangroves, expanding aquaculture, settlements and increasing population. with a total score of 234,232, 210,228 and 200 levels of knowledge, respectively, which are included in the “Know” category.

Abstract Mount Ciremai National Park forest that area had been encroached. Because of that condition, stand structure especially the species composition and vegetation structure need to be researched. The aim of this research was to identify plant species and analyze forest vegetation structure. This research was conducted between March–April 2018 in the 15.500 ha area with 0.02% sampling intensity. Data was collected using grid line method that consisted of 34 sample plots with the 10 m distance between the plots and 20 m between the lines. The numbers of identified plant species at the research location were 43 species, classified by 10 families and 24 genera. Cinnamomum sintoc has a high level of dominance species. The forest vegetation was consisting by the different growth phases. The tree phase has the highest density of 3672 species/ha, while the seedling phase was lowest density of 1060 species/ha. The forest crown stratification were consisting of A, B, C, D and E stratum. The highest number of plants were from C strata for 4651 trees and the least from A strata with 25 trees with the highest tree was 42 m. Could be concluded that the composition of Mount Ciremai National Park forest have so many number of species and complex structure vegetation forest.

Pinus Jantho Forest (PJF) Nature Reserve has unique characteristics and distinctive ecosystem that plays an important role in the preservation of germplasm and the protection of natural resources. The sustainability of the PJF Nature Reserve is strongly determined by vegetation of its constituents. Therefore, an effort is needed to help its management properly, one of which is by knowing the diversity of plants that make up the community in PJF Nature Reserve. The purpose of this research is to analyze the composition and diversity of plant species in PJF Nature Reserve. Data collection and sampling were done using multiple square method. The plots were laid out by systematic sampling. PJF Nature Reserve composed of 111 species from 46 family. The seedling and understorey have the highest number individuals (1028 in total). Then there are 240 individuals at sapling level, 108 individuals at pole, and 72 individuals for tree.  The Euphorbiaceae family has the largest number of species (11 species). The highest Important Value Index (IVI) for seedlings and understorey, sapling and pole, and tree respectively were Chloranthus elatior (11.09%), Piper aduncum (21.90% and 19.32%), and Pinus merkusii (25.52%). The Diversity Index indicates a high level of plant species diversity (3.25-3.63).
