In the middle of increasing concerns about acts of sexual violence, the Draft Law on the Elimination of Sexual Violence (RUU PKS), has not yet been ratified. It is made worse by many people who refuse the approval due to the circulation of misinformation. And the press plays an important role here. It can be a corrector or even a disseminator of misinformation, depending on the framing that is formed. Therefore, this study explains the framing patterns of republika.co.id and tirto.id in presenting news related to the RUU PKS. The research method used is Pan and Kosicki model framing analysis. The researcher looks for the reality that the two media want to build by analyzing the news that is spread around the RUU PKS using four structures, namely: syntax, script, thematic and rhetorical. And it was found that republika.co.id had a framing that the RUU PKS. was not ready to be ratified because many parties, both in general and from the Indonesian House of Representatives itself, thought that this bill could not be ratified. Meanwhile, tirto.id has framing to describe the lack of seriousness of the Indonesian House of Representatives in discussing the RUU PKS, which led to the failure of this bill to be passed, as well as trying to correct the misinformation circulating. Therefore, the two media analyzed have different framing in presenting news related to the RUU PKS.

The ‘underclass’ is widely held by commentators of the Right to be responsible for a host of social problems, including violent crime. This paper shows how in the reporting of sexually motivated murder in a sample of nine British newspapers for one complete year (1992), the image constructed is one where unemployed and other marginalised men are portrayed as the main perpetrators of sexual violence. This, the authors argue, hampers our understanding of sexual violence, for it suggests that it is only men of a ‘low’ socio-economic background who are a potential threat to women and children. It is also suggested that the ‘symbolic environment’ of the press reporting of sexual murder provides a context in which a more authoritarian benefit regime and greater control of poor communities can be spuriously justified.

Subject Libya's media landscape. Significance Four years after the fall of Muammar al-Qadhafi, Libya is experiencing an unprecedented information war. Its media are divided along partisan lines, reflecting the country's deepening political and armed power struggle. Privately-owned media push their respective agendas and sometimes engage in incitement. State-run media have split into two camps, one aligned with the House of Representatives (HoR) government of Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni in eastern Libya, and the other with the self-declared government of Omar al-Hassi in Tripoli. The deliberate peddling by partisan media of false or misleading narratives is feeding the country's conflict and making prospects for consensus and reconciliation bleaker. Impacts The dearth of accurate, non-partisan reporting is skewing domestic and international perceptions of the conflict and efforts to resolve it. The marked partisanship of Libya's media will cause armed and political groups to become more suspicious of broadcasters and the press. This will lead to further harassment of and violent attacks on local and foreign journalists. The information war risks further alienating a population already disconnected from the political process and state institutions.

This article examines the communicative activities and press coverage of the alcohol industry-funded social-change organisation DrinkWise. Established in 2005, DrinkWise funds health research in universities, runs public health campaigns and engages in public relations activities. We use a framing analysis to examine the way DrinkWise frames problems, judgements and solutions related to alcohol consumption and policy. The aim of this analysis is to examine how journalistic practice legitimises DrinkWise and facilitates the organisation's communicative activities. In addition, we consider how DrinkWise's representation in the press works alongside the organisation's array of communicative activities to facilitate the commercial objectives of the alcohol industry. We draw on the implications of this analysis to conceptualise how distinct forms of communicative work – such as academic research, policy-making, journalism and marketing, advertising and public relations – are interconnected.

This study aims to explain how online media framing sees an event being reported. And how is the influence of media ownership on online media behavior to keep a neutral and objective position on their news. The object of research is the coverage of "Pinocchio Jokowi Silhouette" on the cover of the 16-22 September 2019 edition of the Tempo Magazine in online media Detik.com and Suara.com. The research method used is a qualitative approach using the Zhong Pan and Geral M. Kosichi framing analysis method. The results showed that the framing of the two media were very different in their presentation. Detik.com framed the news on Siluet Pinocchio Jokowi which seemed less objective and tended to use a single response from the editor of Tempo Magazine and did not pay attention to the balance aspect in the selection of news sources, and showed an attitude of denial of Jokowi's insults. Meanwhile, Suara.com, in its framing, tends to be more objective because it considers other aspects that are more memorable to produce information that is in accordance with its social reality. There were also responses from several figures as sources who had no connection with Tempo Magazine. Although the next announcement, Suara.com was considered insulting Jokowi, which ended with Suara.com reporting to the Press Council. Keywords: Pinocchio Silhouette, Tempo Magazine, Framing Analysis
