Indonesia is one of the countries that has the potential of natural resources other than agriculture, namely mining, especially gold. Gold mining without permits is one of the mining activities which results in a decrease in the quality of the surrounding environment, especially land. The purpose of this study was to look at the land damage that occurred as a result of unlicensed gold mining activities around the Singingi River in the massive Kuantan Singingi Regency in the past two decades. The method used in the analysis is the scoring and overlay method, the data used are Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 8 OLI which are processed using the supervised cllasification method and digitized on screen. Furthermore, as comparative data, surveys and interviews are carried out and utilizing high resolution image data from SPOT images and google earth. The results of this study were found that there was a change in land use from other land uses into unlicensed gold mining land covering an area of 2,680.03 Ha from 2006 to 2018. Then a land damage map with three parameters was produced, namely vegetation density, mine life and type of tailings . Land with a high level of damage covering 699.34 ha, moderate damage 1,501.04 and low damage 479.65. The largest area of land damage occurs in Sungai Paku Village and the smallest village is Pulau Padang.

Daerah penelitian terletak di desa Muaro Limun, Kecamatan Limun Kabupaten Sarolangun Provinsi Jambi. Sungai limun, salah satu sungai besar di daerah kabupaten sarolangun yang dimanfaatkan oleh mayarakat sekitarnya sebagai sumber penghidupan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kegiatan penambangan terhadap kualitas air sungai Batang Limun, dan perubahan sifat fisik dan  kimia yang diakibatkan   kegiatan penambangan.Metode yang digunakan adalah  metode grab sampel, serta stream sedimen untuk dianalis di laboratorium. Sejumlah sampel diambil di beberapa lokasi Penambangan Emas berdasarkan Aliran Sub-DAS dan dibandingkan dengan beberapa sampel lain yang diambil pada lokasi yang belum terkontaminasi oleh kegiatan penambangan. Analisis kualitas air mengacu pada  SMEWWke 22 tahun 2012 dan standar baku mutu air kelas II dalam PP No 82 yang dikeluarkan oleh Menteri Kesehatan No. 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010. Diketahui sungai Batang Limun telah mengalami perubahan karakteristik fisika dan kimia. Dari grafik  kosentrasi kekeruhan, pH, TSS, TDS  Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Hg terlihat bahwa penambang emas tanpa izin (PETI) dengan cara amalgamasi yang menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kualitas air sungai. Sejak tahun 2009 sampai tahun 2015  sungai Limun dan sekitarnya terus mengalami penurunan kualitas air. Penurunan kualitas yang cukup tinggi terjadi  yaitu peningkatan nilai Rata-rata konsentrasi merkuri pada sungai Batang Limun dari 0,18ppb (0,00018 mg/l)  menjadi 0,3ppb (0,0003 mg/l), peningkatan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh proses kegiatan penambangan dan nilai tersebut masih dibawah standar baku mutu air kelas II  pp nomor 82 tahun 2010.Kata kunci :   Kualitas Air, Sungai Limun,TSS, Merkuri, PETI Limun river is one of the major rivers in the area of Sarolangun, which utilized by the society as a source of livelihood. The aim of study  to analyze the effect of mining activities on  the water quality of Batang Limun River, and the changes of physical and chemical properties of water. The method used are grab  and stream samples to  sediment analyzed in the laboratory. A number of samples were taken at several locations based Flow Gold Mining Sub-watershed and compared to some other samples taken at the location that has not been contaminated by mining activities. Water quality analysis referring to SMEWW, 22nd edition 2012 and refers to Regulation No 82 that issued by Minister of Health No. 492 / Menkes / Per / IV / 2010.The results showed that the Limun river has undergone chemical changes in physical characteristics. These symptoms can be seen from the discoloration of clear water in the river before the mine becomes brownish after mining, based on graphic of muddiness concentration: pH, TSS, TDS Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Hg have seen that  the illegal miner which used amalgamation caused deterioration in water quality, data from 2009 to 2015 Limun river and surrounding areas continue to experience a decrease in water quality. The decreasing of water quality showed in the TSS parameter which found in the area is to high based on  the standard of water quality class II pp number 82 of 2010. An increase in the value of average concentrations of mercury in the Batang Limun river before mine 0,18ppb (0.00018 mg / l) into 0,3ppb (0.0003 mg / l) on the river after the mine. The increase was affected by the mining activities and the value is still below the air quality standard Grade II pp numbers 82 years 2010, although the value is still below with the standards quality standard, the mercury levels in water should still be a major concern because if it accumulates continuously in the water levels will increase and will be bad for health. In contrast to the concentration of mercury in sediments that have a higher value is 153 ppb (0,513ppm ) .Key Words :   Water Quality, Limun River, Mercury, Illegal gold mining

The topic of seismic anisotropy in exploration and exploitation has seen a great deal of progress in the past decade‐and‐a‐half. The principal reason for this is the increased (and increasing) quality of seismic data, of the processing done to it, and of the interpretation expected from it. No longer an academic subject of little practical interest, it is now often viewed as one of the crucial factors which, if not taken into account, severely hampers our effective use of the data. The following brief overview is not intended to be exhaustive, since any such attempt would surely be incomplete. However, it does provide a high‐level survey of the advances seen (at the end of this period) to be important by one who was closely involved, and it directly extrapolates this history to predict the future development of the topic.

The research was done in December 2016 to March 2017 and located in Pasir Keranji Village, Pasir Penyu Districts, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The purpose of this research is analizing the impacts of sandstone mining activities against erosion in Indragiri River, quality of Indragiri River water and local socio-economic conditions. Based on the reasearch, sand-stone mining in Indragiri River causes erosion so that the river body widened and the depth of the river is shallower due to sedimentation. Other than that, quality of Indragiri River water such as brightness, turbidity, TSS, DO and BOD5 including the polluted category. This is caused by sand-stone mining activities, waste from palm factory and gold mining along the Indragiri River. Socially and economically, the sand-stone mining activities have a positive impact in improve the living standards of local communities and have a negative impact on environmental quality

Abstract Java is Indonesia’s and the world’s most populous island. The increase in population on the island of Java reduces the area of forest and other vegetation covers. Landslides, floods, and other natural disasters are caused by reduced vegetation cover. Furthermore, it has the potential to lead to the extinction of flora and fauna. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) can be used to monitor the vegetation cover. This study analyzes the NDVI changes value from 2005 to 2020 using Terra and Aqua MODIS image data processed using Google Earth Engine. Processing was carried out in some stages: down-setting, performing NDVI processing, calculating monthly average NDVI, calculating annual average NDVI, and analyzing. From the study results, the NDVI value of Terra and Aqua MODIS data has a solid but imperfect correlation coefficient due to differences in orbital time which causes differences in solar zenith angle, sensor viewing angle, and azimuth angle. Then from this study, it was found that overall, changes in vegetation density cover on the island of Java decreased, which was indicated by the NDVI decline rate of -0.00047/year. The most significant decrease in NDVI value occurred in the period 2015–2016, covering an area of 13994.630 km2, and the most significant increase in NDVI occurred in the period 2010–2011, covering an area of 2256.101 km2.

Land cover mapping by optical remote sensing has many obstacles including clouds. Clouds block solar radiation coming to earth surface and reflective radiance from the earth surface to remote optical sensors resulting. Therefore, clouds result no-signal areas in images that cannot be used for study of ground objects. In many cases, thin clouds degrade quality of reflective radiance and some times alter, unexpectedly, spectral reflectance characteristics of ground objects leading to false classification. In this paper, the authors present an algorithm on application of multidate for development of cloud free image. The used image data were received in rainy and dry seasons and by stacking, cloud free images representing rainy and dry seasons were created. These cloud free images can be used further for classification of land cover in rainy and dry seasons. Experiments were conducted with Landsat 8 OLI images with path/row number 124/51 covering Dak Lak province of Vietnam. The results of case study were development of cloud free image data representing rainy and dry seasons allowing separation of evegreen and deciduous forests in the study site.

SummaryIn this paper I mention the 19-year history of International Health Evaluation Association (IHEA) which was started in Washington D.C. by the great effort of Dr. G. Gilbert in Hawaii. In 1973 three regions were organized in this Association: 1) U.S.A., 2) Europe and 3) Pan-Pacific including Asia.I also mention the history of periodical health checkups in U.K., U.S.A. and Japan. In Japan it started in 1954, however, after adapting the system of Automated Multiphase Health Testing designed by the Kaiser Foundation of Auckland, Calif., in 1973, Japanese people paid much attention to this health screening system and the number of hospitals and clinics for health screening has increased tremendously and the number of examinees amounted to 2,875,449 in 2001.Finally, I conclude that IHEA should create a multi-disciplinary system to sustain a lifestyle with a high level of Quality of Life (QOL) for the people who really want to live fruitful lives by the successive health education.

In this paper is describing an initiative in cultural, outdoor science education that took place in the west Crete-Greece(Chania & Rethymnon counties) in 2015, and organized in collaboration with teachers and social bodies, to connectScience, Education and Local Communities for a better quality of everyday life. The initiative concentrated inorganizing the European Educational Conference “Mediterranean Sea Connects Us: Progress in Education withLocal Communities”, which hosted as a training program that can be applied elsewhere, with different target groups,promoting the aims of participatory acquisition of knowledge by sharing them in company, with experientialactivities in moments of joy, happiness and wisdom. Educators-officials of high level and much experienced in thethree levels of Education from Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and Romania, with representatives from local bodies, wereinvited to deposit experience, aspects, ideas and expectations on future educational collaboration in the area ofBalkans, East Mediterranean and widely. As coexisting in the same geographical area, with long and importantcommon past, as collaborators in educational projects from the past, intended to be partners in important andinnovative future jointed actions in cultural STEM Education, for the progress of Mediterranean local educationalcommunities.

PT. Prima Timah Utama is one of the companies that received a Production Operation Mining Permit from the Bangka Regency Government in May 2014. The company has been carrying out mining activities since Mei 2014, with a maximum production level of 500,000 m3 of ore per year. This study made a field study of the impact of mining activities carried out by the company, looked at the success rate of reclamation, and calculated the ideal costs to improve environmental quality after mining activities. Reclamation planning for mining operations at PT. Prima Timah Utama is included in the type of non-experimental qualitative research conducted desktop study and field observations in the mining field. This research will analyze and make a reclamation plan based on the criteria of success of ex-mining land that is standard for sustainable mining. The results of the study show a lack of guarantee of the implementation of reclamation guaranteed by the Company to the government of ± 50% of ideal conditions. Based on the results of the study, the company will use plants that are able to have a high level of adaptation to critical environments. One type of plant chosen is Acacia mangium. The costs needed to carry out the ideal reclamation activities to improve the quality of the environment after mining are IDR 3,642,427,321.- or IDR 65,629,324.- / hectare

SC Cuprom SA Bucharest Branch Baia Mare is known as one of the biggest copper factory from ores from Romania, but at the same time one of the biggest polluters from the recent history of the country. Placed in the Baia Mare basin, at the outskirts of the city, the plant generated, in the past, a significant negative impact over the environmental factors, especially over the air and soil. The monitoring of the environment factors in the period offunctioning and after closure revealed a high level of pollution of the emplacement. After ceasing of the activity, in 2009, the emplacement passed through a period of continuous degradation, successive demolitions of the buildings and minimum involving regarding the protection of the environmental factors and application of depollution processes. In this moment the platform of Cuprom Sa represents a tampon zone placed in the eastern part of Baia Mare, which stand in the path of development of the city in that direction due to the high level of degradation of the site, high level ofpollution and lack of capitalization measures.

AbstractWith changing time and lifestyle, general health of population has been drastically affected, and deteriorating quality of life. The transition from a traditional to modern lifestyle and consumption of diets rich in fat and calories combined with a high level of mental stress has compounded the problem further. Diabetes is one of the consequences of such a lifestyle change. Over the past 30 years, the status of diabetes has changed from being considered a mild disorder of the elderly to one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality affecting the youth and middle-aged people. This paper aims to present review of association between diabetes and quality of life as quality of life is considered to be one of the major factors affecting diabetes.
