Today the growth of modern cities is unprecedented in the history of urbanization and the urban environmental problems have also been increased. Unfortunately, there is no much time to modify past failures and improve the status quo, and ensure the protection of the environment. Consequently, it’s important to pay attention to the development of sustainable urban planning and its role in urban management issues is an objective that requires a new approach.On the other hand, Industry 4.0 (I.4.0), as called the 4th Industrial Revolution, carries impacts in the production on companies, the economy and society, with disruptive character, creating new markets and destabilizing the traditional way of doing business. Once I.4.0 is a strategic approach to the integration of advanced control systems with internet technology, enabling communication between people, products and complex systems, it’s expected to follow the same in the Smart Cities development.This article aims to relate technological tools of I.4.0 and the dimensions of “Smart Cities”, based on analytical framework for better understanding the emergence of new society ecosystem focused on the redefinition of the cities’ concept, urbanism and way of life, motivated by this new reconfiguration.

The present comment examines to what extent science communication has attained the status of an academic discipline and a distinct research field, as opposed to the common view that science communication is merely a sub-discipline of media studies, sociology of science or history of science. Against this background, the authors of this comment chart the progress science communication has made as an emerging subject over the last 50 years in terms of a number of measures. Although discussions are still ongoing about the elements that must be present to constitute a legitimate disciplinary field, we show here that science communication meets four key elements that constitute an analytical framework to classify academic disciplines: the presence of a community; a history of inquiry; a mode of inquiry that defines how data is collected; and the existence of a communications network.

Abstract Digital transformation is one of the most discussed themes across the globe. The disruptive potential arising from the joint deployment of IoT, robotics, AI and other advanced technologies is projected to be over $300 trillion over the next decade. With the advances and implementation of these technologies, they have become more widely-used in all aspects of oil and gas industry in several processes. Yet, as it is a relatively new area in petroleum industry with promising features, the industry overall is still trying to adapt to IR 4.0. This paper examines the value that Industry 4.0 brings to the oil and gas upstream industry. It delineates key Industry 4.0 solutions and analyzes their impact within this segment. A comprehensive literature review has been carried out to investigate the IR 4.0 concept's development from the beginning, the technologies it utilizes, types of technologies transferred from other industries with a longer history of use, robustness and applicability of these methods in oil and gas industry under current conditions and the incremental benefits they provide depending on the type of the field are addressed. Real field applications are illustrated with applications indifferent parts of the world with challenges, advantages and drawbacks discussed and summarized that lead to conclusions on the criteria of application of machine learning technologies.

Purpose Industry 4.0 is a term for the so-called Fourth Industrial revolutions. It is the technological integration of cyber-physical systems (CPS) in the process of production. CPS enables internet-based process networking with all participants in the process of value creation. The industrial revolution is actually changing how we live, work and communicate. Many trades have highly been affected by 4IR, libraries are one of them. The libraries of twenty-first century are shifting their paradigms from traditional setup to modern information networking. As people and machines are connecting to each other at enormous speed, artificial intelligence, mobile computing, machine learning and automation of every trade have become a need of the day. Automation and artificial intelligence are change agents in 4IR that will make certain groups of employees redundant, replacing them with new workers with the needed skills or with machines that do the job cheaper. This paper aims to shed light on how the 4IR will “shape the future of education, gender, work and library services”. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the challenges being faced by the library and librarians in the age of Industrial 4.0 revolution in contemporary society. The purpose of this study is to review the past literature on Industrial Revolutions 4.0 in education and interlink them with Library services. Design/methodology/approach The current study performs a systematic and content-centric review of literature relevant to library services. The literature of this study is based on a six-stage approach to identify the design principles and technology trends of 4IR in education and Library services. Findings Industry 4.0 Revolution is the current trend of revolutionary technology, which has affected many services in this age of globalization. Similar, Library services have highly been affected by 4IR. An effort has been made to highlight the vari-ous challenges being faced by libraries and librarians in this age of information. Some solutions have been presented to the library professionals to overcome this technology to boost its services up to the entire satisfaction of the patrons. Research limitations/implications The strategic approach in this study can serve the academicians and practitioners in the field of librarianship as a stepping stone to develop a successful transition from traditional manufacturing into the industry 4.0. Originality/value The study is among the first to identify the challenges being faced by libraries and librarians in this age of Industrial revolutions.

The preprint is a presentation about the contributions of Muslim scientists to technology enabling the fourth industrial revolution. First, the presentation illustrates the industrial revolutions and their enabling technologies, and then it focuses on the industry 4.0 technologies by highlighting the history of artificial intelligence. It continues with the flashback of the contributions of scientists from the Islamic Golden Age to technologies used in industry 4.0, such as mechanics, automation, robotics, and IT. The presentation presents the works of Banu Musa, Al-Jazari, and Al-Khawarizm. Then, the presentation gives an overview of the implications of industry 4.0 on business, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Finally, the presentation presents the challenges and opportunity of current Muslim scientists and communities in facing the industry 4.0 era.

The rapidly changing world around us requires constant reflection and assessment of past changes and metamorphoses in order to prepare for the challenges of the future. The speed of change today is very high and every step aimed at adapting to these changes must have an appropriate basis. The cost of errors and delay increases many times. The article presents a brief history of the evolution of the profession of architect abroad and in Russia, with an emphasis on the methods of training future architects and the disciplines studied. The retrospective analysis is aimed at identifying patterns and features of the development of professional skills from ancient times to the present. It allows us to assess how much the attitude to the profession, approaches to education and the status of the architect has changed over the past time, how gradually there was a transition from a «significant figure in society» to a «blurring of the boundaries» of the profession, its branching. The analysis of current trends presented in the second part aims to formulate the requirements for which it is necessary to prepare future specialists in the field of architecture (the development of Smart cities and co-participating design), as well as to evaluate approaches to the participation of architects in the development of Smart cities abroad.

Employees globally are expected to flourish amidst the uncertainty, volatility, and complexities of the muddy waters of Industry 4.0. To identify changes in the perceived workplace relationships and consider initiatives that will improve interpersonal relationships at work in the 4IR. A review of literature will be conducted on the following key variables: 4IR. In the 4IR, provision of interpersonal other than digital means of communicating with employees, effectiveness in intra-organizational information sharing among employees, constant training on new and improved technological tools of working will be useful. Human resource practitioners should focus on designing strategies to improve IR at work, in order to minimize interpersonal conflicts, provide social support and improve organisational performance.

Purpose The development of information technology is highly influential to all sectors, including the financial industry. Various transformations are made in overcoming the dynamics of technological advancements, including the mapping of human resources. This study is conducted in the banking industry and companies operating using financial technology (FinTech) in Indonesia. This study aims to identify talent competencies needed in the future, based on current conditions and future needs, through mapping talent in the banking and FinTech industries. Design/methodology/approach This study provides empirical evidence about the mapping of talent management with eight basic competencies. It uses a mixed-method, explanatory sequential with survey approach in the first phase and focus group discussions (FGD) in the second phase. The questionnaire is distributed to 309 respondents who are the specific decision-makers in this industry. Meanwhile, the FGD is conducted twice at different times with academics and practitioners, human resources and talent managers. This research used analytic hierarchy process as a tool for data processing. Findings This study provides current competency positions and future needs in the banking and FinTech industries in Indonesia where it found a lot of competence segregation. It also discovered three priority competencies for dealing with Industry 4.0, which included relating and networking, adapting and responding to change and entrepreneurship and commercial thinking. Practical implications This study is valuable for decision-makers and regulators; these results can be used to find new competencies and talents to develop existing human resources. Also, these results can be used as a basis for policy-making related to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Originality/value This study provides new insights on talent mapping in the banking and FinTech industries as a strategic approach in the digitalization era. In addition, this research also adds knowledge related to Industry 4.0 as a result of industry developments in the digitalization era.

Innovation has been and continues to be an important theme in management literature, and almost any improvement upon the status quo could be regarded as some sort of innovation. Such an improvement could be made in terms of an increase of efficiency for an existing process or the creation of something new, such as a new process, product, position (perception), or even a paradigm (mental model) (Tidd, Bessant et al., 2005). Not all innovations are therefore the same. Some are more disruptive, while others are incremental, reinforcing the existing order of things. This paper discusses the evolution of innovation as a management concept in the context of a physical product or technology and studies innovation from a longitudinal perspective, i.e., from a single physical product to a product family to smart services associated with the physical products and to the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) in which physical products are now part of an extensive industrial network, namely the internet of things. How does the theme of innovation (management) change and evolve during this industry transition? More importantly, what are the managerial implications for innovating in the era of Industry 4.0?

IV industrial revolution and digitalization of production and labour have a positive impact on economic and social development. However, consideration and analysis of the challenges of adapting the existing international legal framework in terms of guidelines for redefining national policies and responding to changes in the field of work are necessary to ensure decent working conditions and protection of the basic rights of employees. By applying the normative, comparative-legal, and axiological method, the paper aims to identify basic legal issues of the status of workers regarding changes caused by the IV industrial revolution. After determining the theoretical-conceptual framework of the so-called platform work, the advantages and disadvantages of using Internet technology in the field of work, as well as possible ways to eliminate them are pointed out. Furthermore, a special focus is on the application of the Internet of Things technology in the field of health and safety at work. The worker-oriented concept in terms of a holistic and integrative approach to the subject of the research should result in the establishment of basic legal assumptions of the regulatory and normative framework of new forms of work.

<div><p class="Els-history-head">Revolution couldn’t be separated in the history of the struggle of the Indonesian nation. Experience and real evidence that the involvement of every component in the elements of the nation plays a crucial role in making Indonesia be one of the great countries in the world. This experience was adopted into a state defense system known as the Total People’s Defense and Security System. Growing globalization could be a threat to a country's sovereignty, mainly in the era of the sixth genealogy war. The purpose of this study is to develop knowledge about the importance of strengthening Sishankamrata (Total People’s Defense and Security System) in presence of industry 4.0. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative analysis through literature studies with the development of thinking through literature studies and research tour of duty. In this study, the PMESII and VUCA construction is used. The result of this study is confirmed that strengthening Sishankamrata was needed to improve the readiness of the national defense strategy in facing the threat of the sixth-generation war. This strengthening includes strengthening the posture and capabilities of the main components, reserve components, and supporting components, and strengthen state defense as a foundation in Sishankamrata by optimizing national insight integrated with every policymaker.</p></div>
