Abstract The condition and quality of atmospheric air plays a very important role in the life of every living organism, including man. Every day we breathe atmospheric air containing CO2 whose level changes depending both on many external factors and physicochemical processes. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the air changes, among other things, due to the influence of communication routes which may adversely affect the environment. For this reason it is necessary to analyze changes in CO2 concentrations and try to determine their impact on the functioning of users of the area (so, one can observe and analyze seasonal impact of communication routes on separate sub-areas of research).

Abstract The quality of atmospheric air and the level of its pollution is inextricably linked with the development of humanity. Its prevalence and the lack of any natural protective barriers causes that it becomes a recipient of increasingly large amounts of different types of pollutants. This is particularly dangerous in the areas where both meteorological conditions and type of building prevent the spread of pollution. By using a portable gas micro-chromatograph it is possible to observe and analyze a seasonal impact of building density on carbon dioxide concentration and the effect of atmospheric conditions on CO2 level in the air in a specified area.

The work considered a system of knowledge control of the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University. It was shown that the quality of higher education depends mainly on the level of student training, the qualifications of teaching staff, the organization of the learning process, the efficiency of monitoring the quality of the education, and also factors allowing to improve the quality of education in the university. Assessment of the knowledge quality received by the students in the "Chemistry" discipline was carried out among the students of the Automobile Faculty of the KHNADU, entered the first year of the Bachelor of full-time education, during 2014/15–2018/19 academic years. The control was carried out with the help of traditional pedagogical practice types – the main (preliminary, final, and control of residual knowledge) and periodical (current and thematic knowledge tests). Statistical research on the performance of the main types of students' knowledge control, as more significant, shows that the important part of educational activity in university is an effective organization of its control. It was established that main principles of the control of students’ knowledge received during learning subject are the regularity and systematical conduct, the objectivity of assessment of the level of students' skills, the ability to identify the actual level of learning educational materials by the students, the timeliness of identification of the gaps in the learning process by the teacher and applying ways to overcome them. The internal and external factors affecting the performance of students during studying the "Chemistry" discipline have been distinguished. The internal factors are the knowledge level before entering the university and the motivation for learning the subject. The external are an organization of the educational process, self-organization of student learning activity, teaching methods and forms and professionalism of the educator, quality of additional services (holding consultations and individual lessons), educator-student relationship. It was identified that during studying the "Chemistry" discipline, the influence of the factors that students had before entering the university is weakened, and the external factors, which appeared in the process of studying in university, have a significant impact.

Purpose The United Nations (2030 Agenda) recognize the need to work with sustainable urban mobility problems such as traffic jams, pollution, inadequate infrastructure are becoming recurring issues in urban centers, directly affecting the quality of life. Such an unsustainable system is frequently observed at universities, as these houses a large concentration of people and vehicles, without proper planning. To promote sustainable strategies at universities, this research aims to focus on the sustainable mobility plan (SMP) applied at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF). Design/methodology/approach Bibliographic research about the current mobility of the campus has been carried out. A questionnaire was distributed to understand opinions about the subject of key people. Findings The priority treatment given to vehicles, mostly, is an alert factor, which must be solved immediately, considering the need of planning and restructuring it. The suggestions of possible solutions were also relevant, and are being considered for the plan’s implementation. Originality/value This study stands out for using the 2030 Agenda, specifically Goal 11 (Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable), using the university campus as a study object. The mobility plan elaboration was constituted by several actions to fill all parts of the mentioned goal. This study stands out because its methodology can be used in other universities besides UPF and also, to a larger scale, in cities, with similar technical features.

A orientação espacial se relaciona aos processos cognitivos, perceptuais e comportamentais pelos quais uma pessoa passa para achar seu caminho desde o ponto de partida até seu destino final. Por entender que o ambiente nem sempre está adequado e contribui para as tomadas de decisão durante este processo, esta pesquisa possui como objetivo avaliar as estratégias de orientação espacial e wayfinding de alunos no campus da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, em Florianópolis/SC, a partir de uma rota pré-estabelecida. Foram selecionados dois métodos para pesquisa. O primeiro, consistiu na produção de Mapas Mentais do campus universitário pelos participantes da pesquisa, e o segundo, na aplicação do método Passeio Acompanhado. Ao longo do percurso os participantes encontraram dificuldades em encontrar o destino final, demonstrando que os recursos gráficos não estavam dispostos em locais estratégicos, e a quantidade/qualidade dos recursos atuais é insuficiente. Ao final são propostas algumas recomendações – espaciais – que melhorem o deslocamento dos usuários no campus universitário.                  *****Spatial orientation process is related to the cognitive, perceptual and behavioral process that a person goes through to find his way from the starting point to his final destination. By understanding that the environment is not always adequate and contributes to decision making during this process, this research aims to evaluate the spatial orientation and wayfinding strategies of students on the campus of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, in Florianópolis/SC, from a pre-established route.Two research methods were selected. The first consisted of the production of Mind Maps on the university campus by the research participants, and the second, the application of the Accompanied Stroll method. Along the way, the participants found it difficult to find the final destination, demonstrating that the graphic resources were not available in strategic locations, and the quantify/quality of current resources is insufficient. At the end, some recommendations are proposed – spatial – that improve the displacement of users on the university campus.

The article aims to assess the quality of public spaces of the Third Campus of the Jagiellonian University and to determine to what extent the mobile crowdsensing survey method is useful in this respect. Public spaces are nowadays considered the key elements of the university campus structure. Their appropriate shaping and management fosters social interactions between different user groups, which should consequently strengthen creativity and interdisciplinarity within the university milieu. Our paper presents contemporary trends in the campus planning and organisation. In the empirical part, the quality of selected public spaces (main avenue, squares and courtyards, and green areas) was determined based on the behaviour of campus users as observed by participants of the crowdsensing study. These results were confronted with the visual material and comments of the study participants, as well as with the expert assessment of the authors. In the final part, activities aimed at improving the quality of public spaces of the campus were proposed.

Chulalongkorn University (CU) is the oldest university in Thailand. In the campus, it provides various environmentally friendly transportation modes such as shuttle buses, EV sharing vehicles, bicycles, and cover way for walking. Students today need convenient and fast commuting in the campus. As a new emerging way for students using, bike-sharing system (BSS) has been provided in the campus since 2014. However, the BSS in CU is still not so efficient and unpopular. This research aims to find out how to encourage the use of on-campus BSS in CU by using various research methods including interview, questionnaires and observation plans, and the researcher own experiences on using BSS in the campus. The survey results indicate that only 2% used bicycle for traveling from accommodation to the university; the most popular transportation mode was MRT/BTS, followed by public bus for graduate students, and by walking for undergraduate students. This implies that most of the respondents preferred public transportation rather than using their own cars or motorcycles. Upon questions about the preferring on-campus transportation modes, it was found that nearly half preferred using shuttle bus, followed by walking, while only 2.4% prefer using BSS. The university should raise awareness of the students to realize advantages of the BSS and providing more opportunities for students to know the bike-sharing system. Then, the university should improve the quality of the sharing bikes and motivate more students to use the system.Keywords: Bike-sharing system; University campus; Encouraging using

INTRODUCTION: Iran has long been recognized as one of the most accident-prone areas in the world due to its special geographical location. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to devote special attention to crisis management in organizations and the identification of related strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. METHODS: The present study aimed to identify the strategic positioning of crisis management after natural disasters at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the center of excellence in the east of the country. To this end, the internal and external factors which militate against university crisis management were identified. Thereafter, the strategic positioning of this university was determined among four positions, namely offensive, defensive, adaptive, and contingency, using a combination of SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis, analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and Monte Carlo simulation, and strategies were presented. The statistical population were university facility experts and managers among whom 10 cases were selected by purposive sampling. FINDINGS: Based on the obtained results, the highest weights in different sub-criteria were as follows: compliance with the required technical and safety standards in new constructions of the university campus (strength), the absence of any specific plan for dealing with various types of crises in different buildings (weakness), the proximity of the fire station to the university campus (opportunity), and indecisiveness of organizations supervising building retrofitting, including provincial government and Roads and Urban Development Office (threat). CONCLUSION: The results of the present study demonstrated that strategic positioning can be identified by analyzing internal and external factors. Moreover, among the four strategic positions, it was found that the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad adopted an offensive crisis management strategy in 45.4% of the cases.

Vending machines (VMs) have been identified as an obesogenic factor, offering mainly energy-dense and nutrient-poor foods, with limited healthy options available. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess consumption trends and attitude toward vending machine (VM) foods in a university setting. A web-based survey was conducted among 1250 students and staff. Most participants reported weight gain (43.4%) and poorer food choices (53.4%) since joining the university. Participants described VM foods as expensive (53.7%) and lacking variety (34.3%). Over 81% demanded the availability of healthier options. About 75% of participants were VMs users. The most frequently purchased VM items were water, chocolate, and chips. Males reported consuming nuts, soda, iced tea, and energy drinks more frequently than females (p < 0.005). The main reasons for using the VM were hunger and lack of time. Over 40% nominated fresh fruits, baked chips, sandwiches, and dry roasted nuts to be provided in the VMs as healthier food options. Males and those responsible for buying their own food were more likely to select healthier options (p = 0.001). Findings can be used to inform stakeholders of current vending behaviors and to plan tailored interventions to improve the nutritional quality of vended items and promote healthier food choices.

In a study of the quality of runoff from roof surfaces, five individual house roofs in the city of Bayreuth, Germany, were compared with experimental roofs on the university campus and with the depositing precipitation. While the city locations all had different exposition characteristics, the campus site experienced urban background conditions without local emissions on or nearby the roofs. The concentrations of the substances under investigation showed a high degree of variability both within and in between single precipitation events. While the wet deposition load of organic micropollutants is increased by washoff of dryly deposited substances (e.g. PAH, ammonium) from the roof surfaces, the concentrations of inorganic ions like calcium were also increased by leaching from the roof material itself. For both processes, there were marked differences between the roofs studied. PAH concentrations in runoff from one roof receiving emissions from old heating systems were elevated by more than one order of magnitude. According to the source variability for the respective substances, seasonal trends could also be detected. The investigation shows that it is difficult to generalise the pollution level of roof runoff even within a small area. This has to be taken into account for the planning of alternative urban drainage systems like infiltration facilities.
