The article presents some considerations on the motives for the creation and text strategies of Akhmatova’s memories of Mandelstam. The Pages from a Diary are viewed from two points of view: first, as a fragment of Akhmatova‘s memoir prose of a certain historical time, as an actualization of personal memory in order to correct collective cultural memory; secondly, as a supertext formed by numerous drafts, lists and variations.Within the framework of this genre, it is possible to single out a number of principles that Akhmatova is guided by when creating a memoir text: for example, a dialogical mode of a “conversation” with existing memories, documents, oral evidence; intention of myth-fighting, etc. A look at the Pages from a Diary as a work of narrative prose (based on Akhmatova’s definition of memories as a “short story”), called “The Death’s Way,” allows us to add the hero of her memoir to a number of “damned poets” that are not alien to Mandelstam.

Summary This article focuses on Pencho Slaveykov’s concept of “work in the present,” which forms the core of his definition of modernity, blending together literature and social experience. Slaveykov’s literary project and author persona are viewed in the broader context of aesthetic modernity. The Bulgarian modernist is a cultural engineer pushing the idea of a differentiation of cultural and artistic spheres. His goal is to autonomize literature after the utilitarian imperatives of the Bulgarian National Revival. The author simultaneously embodies a Balkan ‘crank’ and a German conceptualist. Slaveykov’s work not only demonstrates that modernism has broken with the past, but also constructs an alternative cultural memory shaped in the generic modes of the epic, the lyric, and the anthology. The author entitles himself with the power to be a guardian of cultural memory. Pencho Slaveykov’s conceptualizations envisage the creation of the author as an institution pivotal for the construction of a national literature.

This article reveals the definition of “narration”, which is closely related to such categories as “narrator” and “types of narration”. The characteristics that influence the types of narration are analyzed. Scientists pay attention to the narrator’s awareness, his/her presence in the novel, his/her attitude to other characters, and according to that identify the types of the narrator. The form and type of narration of the modern American novel “Gone Girl” by G. Flynn influences the creation and revealing of heros’ images. The narrators describe the same events from their own points of view. The first person narrative, as a rule, creates an atmosphere of confidential conversation; however, the opposite perception is formed through the type of narration chosen by the author from the first person of two unreliable narrators.

Introduction: the article deals with the methodological problem of the meaning of the goal of civil law research. The author analyzes the dissertation abstracts from the point of view of goal setting, which were completed in different periods of the development of Russian civil law science, identifies the qualitative characteristics of the stages, and proves the connection of the achieved results with the researcher’s knowledge of the methodological methods of goal setting. Purpose: to show the value of goal setting in scientific research in general and in civil research in particular; to consider the relationship of goal setting with the achievement of specific scientific results on the examples of dissertations defended in the specialty 12.00.03; to justify the need to set as goals the fundamental problems associated with the identification of patterns of development of relations that are part of the subject of civil law regulation and the creation of effective mechanisms that mediate them. Methods: system-structural, system-functional, generalization, abstraction, analogy, logical, statistical, classification, legal modeling, comparative legal, forecasting, formal legal, historical. Results: civil methodology should take into account the importance of the goal in the organization of scientific work. Only a competent possession of goal setting skills can ultimately ensure the creation of scientifically-based mechanisms for effective impact of civil law norms on regulated social relations. Conclusions: 1) any science, including the science of civil law, is not only designed to study and describe existing problems, including legislative, doctrinal, and law enforcement. Research, in order to meet the criterion of scientific character, must attempt to identify the laws of development, both regulated relations and mechanisms that mediate them; 2) the significance of the goal in the development of science has been proven by outstanding philosophers. In addition, the very definition of science indicates that goal setting is one of its essential characteristics; 3) the analysis of the author’s abstracts of leading Russian tsivilists showed how the skilful setting of research goals helped to achieve them consistently, as well as to create a high-quality categorical apparatus of civil law science; 4) the analysis of modern dissertations showed that not all young researchers see the value of goal-setting and this methodological disadvantage is important for the author to eliminate.

The article “Problems of defining folk dance in Latvia today” examines the aspects that affect the current situation in Latvia, where folk dances are understood as both folk dances that have not been modified by choreographers, dances passed down through generations that can be danced every day, and stage folk dances, which are a type of art performed by folk dance ensembles, created by choreographers and dances adapted to the stage performance. The research aim is to identify and describe the problems that currently exist in the Latvian cultural space, where the definition of folk dances creates tension in the public space and ambiguous opinions among dancers. Nowadays, it is possible to identify such concepts as, for example, folk dance, ethnographic dance, authentic dance, traditional dance, folklore dance, folk dance, folk dance adaptation, field dance, folk ballet, etc. Consistent use of concepts is rarely seen in the documents and research of cultural policymakers and the historical and contemporary works of choreographers and researchers. Often they are only described in general terms. A survey conducted in 2019 shows that dancers consider stage folk dances to be folk dances, and often this separation of dances is not important for them. Another problem is the designation of folk dance ensembles where stage folk dance dancers are dancing. The term misleads; it suggests that folk dances are danced there. However, this designation is linked to its historical time of origin. It is not insignificant that the stage folk dance is more popular, more visible, and massively represented at the Song and Dance Festival. Thus, a part of the society associates it with our folk dances.
