This study aims to find out the improvement of cognitive ability through the implementation of guided inquiry and guided discovery model in integrated natural science learning. Alternative energy sources was chosen as the learning theme which contain Biology, Physic, Chemistry concepts, which consist of briquettes as the heat source, and battery as the power source. This study used quasi experiment method with matching only pretest posttest control group design. The subject of this study were 42 students of VII grade of Junior High School in Kampar District which consist of experiment and control class with 21 students in each class. Student cognitive learning outcomes was measured by multiple choice test instrument, which contain of 21 items which was done twice (pretest and posttest). The technic of data analysis was normality test and hypothesis test (U test). Data were analyzed by IBM SPSS 22 statistics and Microsoft Excel 2010 program. The N-Gain average of cognitive ability shows that there is an improvement of student cognitive ability in experiment class as 0,44 with intermediate category, and in control class as 0,21 with low category. While, the result of U test toward N-Gain value shows that there is a significant difference on student cognitive ability between students in experiment and control class. Thus, it can be concluded that guided inquiry model can improve student cognitive ability more than guided discovery model. Keywords: guided inquiry model, discovery guided model, cognitive ability, alternative energy sources

The subjects of this study were all eighth grade students of Togomangura Public Middle School with 18 students, consisting of 11 men and 7 women. The data collection technique was carried out by observation and student learning achievement test in the form of a description test. Data analysis techniques using descriptive  statistics. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that: (1) the learning activities of students by applying the guided inquiry learning model in each cycle tend to increase and improve in each unit of student activity. This is indicated by the acquisition of an average score of cycle I of 2,6 which belongs to the sufficient category and increased in cycle II to 3,8 which belongs to the good category; (2) science learning outcomes of students in class VIII Togomagura Satpap can be improved by applying the guided inquiry learning model to the subject matter of light and optical devices, where in cycle I is obtained an average value of 59,2 with a standard deviation of 22,9 and at cycle II obtained an average value of 65,6 with a standard deviation of 23,4; (3) completeness of science learning for students of class VIII Togomagura Satpap Junior High School taught through the use of guided inquiry learning models in each cycle tends to increase, where in cycle I the percentage of mastery learning outcomes is 27,8 % and in cycle II is 66,7 % .

This study aimed to produce a guided inquiry learning science model through flipbook media which is appropriate for training critical thinking skills for junior high school students on the Human Respiratory System material. The development of the device is a modification of the 4-D model which was tested on eighth grade students of the junior high school even semester semester 2019/2020 and was repeated twice. This is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design research design and the data collection uses the method of validation, observation, tests, and questionnaires. The research data generated are validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning devices analyzed descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that (a) learning devices developed were categorized as very valid, (b) learning activities were carried out very well with an average score of 3.69, (c) student activities in learning were carried out very well, (d) student responses to learning inquiry was very good (95.99%), and (e) the results of students' critical thinking tests had a high increase, critical thinking skills increased from 28.37 (Very Less Critical) to 81.21 (Critical). The conclusion of the science learning device with guided inquiry learning model through the developed flipbook media is appropriate to be used to train students' critical thinking skills.

This research aimed to produce science learning materials that are feasible  to fascilitate student’s science process skill of junior high school. This research was conducted to implement the teaching and  learning materials based on guided inquiry model. This research developed them using Dick-Carey’s model and try outed using one group pre-test post-test design. The subjects of this research was science learning materials that consist of syllabus, lesson plan, student’s work sheet, instructional media, evaluation sheet to measure student’s science process skill. It was conducted to 28 eighth grade students in junior high school. The data were collected using validation, observation, test, and questionnaire. The data were analyzed  using descriptive quantitative and qualitative technique. The results  showed: (1) the teaching and learning materials developed are valid; (2) learning implementation got a good category; (3) the student’s participation  in actively learning; (4) student’s science process skill showed high category, (5) the students give positive response with very good category toward teaching and learning process. Based on this results, it can be concluded that the set of learning materials based on guided inquiry model have been developed are feasible to fascilitate  the student’s science process skill. Subject. The article discusses limited sources of energy nowadays and an ongoing survey of new ones. I focus on fuel and energy complexes worldwide and in Russia. Objectives. The study is to analyze the future use of alternative energy sources in the fuel and energy complex nationwide and worldwide. I review the existing energy sources of the fuel and energy complex in the global and regional markets, specifically the alternative ones. Methods. The study relies upon methods of statistics, analysis and systems approach. Results. The article demonstrates that the fuel and energy complex strongly depends on the current situation in the energy resource market, which is difficult to forecast. If we continue relying on traditional energy resources, we get exposed to some risks affecting the sustainable development of the economy. Russia should diversify the power engineering sector by developing alternative energy sources. The article sets forth the economic rationale for alternative sources and key steps Russia shall make. Conclusions and Relevance. Considering the current situation in the energy balance, alternative energy is what any advanced society seeks for, being supported by manufacturers, governmental institutions, and researchers, though low profitability and high infrastructure costs impede its development. In Russia, these challenges are even more palpable. However, even now Russia is able to find alternative energy solutions. In addition to advantages of alternative energy, which is globally proclaimed, they will also help Russia diversify and update the economic system.

The goal of this research is gaining description on science literacy improvement of junior high school students regarding the topics of earthquake and flood as an effect of Contextual Based Learning (CBL) implementation during science instruction. Quasi-experiment serves as the method of this study with non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test design. Jigsaw cooperative learning method functions as the control treatment. Research subjects involve 52 students of grade VII in a state junior high school in Bandung Regency, West Java. Those research subjects are divided into two classes namely experiment class and control class. The instrument used to collect relevant data is science literacy test covering aspects of science content, science competence, and attitude towards science. Two independent sample t-test is applied to analyze the comparison of science literacy improvement reached between experiment and control class. The result of statistical calculation for two independent sample t-test N-gain using version 23 SPSS software shows a significant value of 0.00 < α. 0.05 for all aspects. The findings indicate that CBL implementation during science instruction within topics of earthquake and flood is proven to be valid to improve students’ science literacy compared to jigsaw cooperative model.
