Self-assessment is one of alternative ways to evaluate students’ speaking talent in English. Through this evaluation, students are allowed to discover, know, and develop their speaking skill. Nonetheless, this sort of project was probably not common in Indonesia. Thus, this study was aimed to know students’ perception of using self-assessment for assessing their oral performance at Link and Match vocational high school. The information of this study was gathered by means of questionnaire which consists of 5 questions about the use of self-assessment. In this qualitative study, the data had been analyzed descriptively. There have been 30 vocational high school students who stand in Multimedia Major as the participant of this study. The results of this study indicated that most of the students thought that self-assessment very helpful for them because it allowed them to know their functionality and develop it to achieve the course goal specifically the speaking course objective. However, some students though that self-assessment was considerably useful since the teacher not often use this assignment and the students not take pleasure in whereas attempting to assess themselves. Interpersonal intelligence is social intelligence that shows one's ability to create good relationships with friends or the environment. In fact, this intelligence has not been maximally trained in learning at school, especially in chemistry learning, even though the intelligence is important enough to hone the child's ability to be able to socialize with their environment. The purpose of this study was to identify the real conditions of students' interpersonal intelligence in Pharmacy Vocational High School in the city of Semarang. A survey was performed in the academic year 2018/2019 with a sample of 57 students of class XII Pharmacy Vocational High School in the city of Semarang, Indonesia, who had given their approval as participants. Sampling was done randomly. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, peer assessment, and self-assessment when applying chemistry learning. The results showed that 56% of students had low interpersonal intelligence based on observations and, according to the results of survey analysis with peer assessment instruments, there were 59% of students also categorized low for this capability. The survey results with self-assessment instruments also showed 56% of students had low interpersonal intelligence. Low intelligence is mainly in the indicators of the ability to ask, answer questions, and provide answers. This fact is relatively similar to the literature, which reveals that 50% of students have interpersonal intelligence with a medium-low category. So the conclusion is that in reality, this intelligence is still low.

Abstract Implementation of demonstration method in the teaching of chemistry is assigned as the right strategy to improve students’ achievement as it is proved that the method can bring an abstract concept to reality in the class. The study is conducted to vocational high school students in SMKN1 Pargetteng getteng Sengkut Pakfak Barat at accademic year 2013. The teaching has been carried out three cycles on the teaching of chemistry topic of colloid system. In the study, the class is divided into two class, experiment class and control class. The demontration method is used to teach students in experimental class while the teaching in control class is conducted with lecture method. Both are evaluated by using multiple choise tests before and after the teaching procedures, and the ability of students to answer the problems are assigned as students’ achievements. The results showed that demonstration method improved students’ achievement in chemistry. The students in experimental class who are taughed with demonstration method (M=19.08±0.74) have higher achievements compare with control class (M=12.91±2.52), and both are significantly different (tcalculation 22.85 > ttable 1.66). The effectivity of demostration method in experimental class (97%) is found higer compare to conventional method in control class (91%).
