Discovery learning is a learning situation on wich the principle content of what is tobe learned is not give but must be independly discovered by student. The effectiveness of guided discovery learning model to improve students’ critical thinking skills uses 6 indicators, are: formulating problems, formulating hypotheses, analyzing date, providing alternatives, summing up, communicating and applying principle. The guided discovery learning model was included in the effective category in terms of: (a) Improvement (N-gain) of students’ critical thinking skills by 0.65 with moderate criteria and (b) Students respond positively to learning using guided discovery learning model and its learning tools on implementation.

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of P21 students in solving Arithmetic Two Dimensional problems through the application of Guided Discovery Learning. GDL is a learning process that occurs when students are not presented  with material in final form but learners are expected to organize their own material with guidance from educators if needed. Implementation of GDL in learning process is expected to improve students' thinking ability, especially critical thinking ability version P21. According to P21, in the 21st century, every individual is required to have 4C's skills in order to compete globally and one of 4C's skills is critical thinking. By having these skills, learners are expected to achieve success in life and work. The subjects of this study are discrete mathematics class students, as many as 64 students. Research steps are by providing initial knowledge of Two Dimensional Arithmetic materials through GDL method and Student Worksheet (LKM) then at the end of student learning work on Test Mastery of Teaching Materials (TPBA). The test results are then analyzed using the P21 critical thinking indicator that is reasoned effectively, using a system of thinking, making judgments and decisions. From the analysis result of Teaching Material Mastery Test obtained data about critical thinking level of students, in class A there are 25 students being in very high category (level 4), 10 students are in high category (level 3) and 9 students are in medium category (level 2). While in class C there are 22 students being in very high category (level 4), 4 students are in high category (level 3) and 4 students are in medium category (level 2). The study also produced a two dimensional arithmetic monograph. From the results of this study can be concluded that the application of GDL has a positive effect in developing students' critical thinking skills in solving two-dimensional arithmetic problems.

This study aimed to develop guided discovery learning-based android learning media to improve critical thinking skills. The developed biology learning media was applied to the nervous system material. The discussion of the physiology of the nervous system is one of the difficult biological materials to understand because it includes the organization and structure of neurons and their functions, ion pump mechanisms when neurons are at rest, action potential mechanisms, mechanisms for neurons to communicate with other cells in the synapses, and organization of the nervous system. This study used research and development (RD) with a method developed by Thiagarajan, namely the 4D model with stages: define, design, develop and disseminate. The stages of this study are limited to the development stage. The results showed that the media was feasible with media, language, and a material expert validation of   3.5, 3.8, and 3.3, respectively.

ABSTRACT   In the 21st century where people have used technology, it is feasible that early childhood are also prepared to have better abilities, especially being able to think. It's time for children to be given more challenging activities and use the right strategies, and the children ability can really improve better. One of the efforts to improve children's critical thinking skills through playing science, one of the games that children love is playing balloons. Strategies used to improve children's ability, problem solving and guided discovery. The problem that will be solved in this action is how the game of science can improve children's critical thinking skills, in group A (4-5 years) in the Laboratory of Paud Yasmin Jember 2018/2019 academic year. The type of lecturers conducted is class action lectures, data collection methods used in this lecture are observation, interviews and documentation. Data collected in the form of children activities during science playing activities, results of interviews with children and teacher of group A. Based on the results of lecturers, it can be concluded that playing science can improve critical thinking skills in a significant way. Classically from 15 children there are 13 children who develop their critical thinking skills, and 2 children are undeveloped. It is known that the development of children critical thinking abilities classically is 86.66% which means that the development of children critical thinking abilities in group A is classically achieved.   Keywords: Critical thinking, science games, PAUD.

Critical thinking is widely recognized as a necessary skill for growth and intellectual development due to a variety of factors, including globalization, the revolution of information technology, modernity, and connectivity. EFL teachers can lay the groundwork for their students to attain critical thinking through various methods, models, and strategies. The present investigation suggests that the teacher could promote EFL learners’ critical thinking through guided discovery model of instruction. Henceforth, the current paper endeavors to enlighten the adequacy of applying guided discovery for developing learners’ critical thinking skills. It is an experimental research that investigates: how may guided discovery contribute to the development of EFL learners’ critical thinking? It attempts to examine the utility of discovery learning in teaching students how to process and think critically about the education they receive where information has become readily available and accessible. To this aim, 40 EFL Master students who took educational psychology courses were nominated from the university center of Naama, Algeria. The researcher selected Peter Honey Critical Thinking test and focus group discussions to attain data on students’ critical thinking skills. The test results demonstrated that the experimental group outperformed the control group. The students become more autonomous, reflect on their learning experiences, and identify the most useful strategies. Furthermore, the analysis of focus group interviews revealed that the experimental group participants hold positive attitudes toward discovery learning. They perceive it as a precious method that can enhance their awareness about the value of thinking critically.
