Abstract Kelantan is situated somewhat in isolation from the industrial corridor of the west coast and far from thesphere of influence of Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore. It is important to determine the forces of thestate’s urban growth determinants because urban centers in Kelantan have their unique mix of potentialsand constraints. However, as far as globalization and urbanization that are taking place worldwide, thearchitectural evolution in Kelantan is not exempted and the preservation of any unique historical valueshould be done. The heritage architecture value of Kelantan today, has not been appreciated by localfolks and society because of its isolated and poor characters which has not been maintained and wellemphasized by the authority and society themselves. Hence, the remarkable heritage property has been‘invisible’ and demolished due to negligence and time factors. Moreover, there are many historical buildingsin Kota Bharu that had been demolished for urban development purposes and the influence of modernand contemporary architecture style without considering the existing and distinctive of historical value. The growth of architectural intervention is inevitably due to society and its demands to fulfill their urbanneeds nowadays. As a result, the pattern of urban setting and heritage property had changed throughoutthe years of urbanization. Moreover, the changes have affected the ambiance of surrounding i.e. buildings(built-heritage), and streets planning and activities.

The importance of physical and nonphysical architectural design values made architectural designers need good experience to be experts of architectural values reasonably without neglecting any value in the design process.  The importance of such values made that ignoring any values and mistakes occurs in the design process. Simultaneously, architectural designers' different nature and the difference in their experiences are causing different understandings of the design values, thus causing architectural mistakes. The research problem appears from the randomly propagating of mistakes in contemporary architecture, which is about to become a phenomenon in Al Sulaymaniyah city. The research aims to find the main reasons and influences of making architectural mistakes and propagating such mistakes in the contemporary architectural design depending on randomly selected samples. The study took the factor of "Architectural Designers' Experience" as an influential factor in avoiding the propagation of architectural mistakes. To see architectural mistakes in real existing cases, the research took some of the different types of residential buildings in Al Sulaymaniyah city designed during (2000-2010) as case study to show architects' architectural mistakes in residential buildings

AbstractHousing is a widespread and complex issue with a variety of dimensions. First, housing was considered as a physical location and as a shelter and basic necessity of the households, but today the concept of dwelling as the place that provides all the services and facilities necessary for a better life of the family has been created. One of the issues discussed at many conferences and in general in the scientific community is the definition of sustainability in the psychological point of view, along with the ways to introduce this concept into the architecture and human habitat environments. This research first begins with the main question about how the concept of sustainability can be found within the scope of housing. Then existing resources search is done and accessible projects are analyzed and the weaknesses and strengths of traditional architecture and contemporary architecture are compared. Finally, the relationship between the definitions of three concepts: dwelling, sustainable design and traditional Iranian architecture was discussed. At the end, the sustainable design that is also appropriate to the Iranian culture was presented.

Photography is historically used to display architectural works to distant audience. Digital media, mainly the Internet, have expanded the distribution of images, especially through the websites of architecture offices, which found a handy tool for the dissemination of its portfolio. The perception of the resulting image from the photographic registration technique varies depending on the means it is presented, either digital or analogical. This finding led the investigation presented in this article: How architecture design companies present photographic images to promote their work through electronic portfolios? Is there any strategy that prevails? These questions inspired a research that analyses the architectural photographs digitally presented by Brazilian contemporary architecture offices. The goal is to build a diagnosis of the use of photography on their website by identifying recurrent strategies and techniques. This article presents the examination of photographic images displayed in the Jacobsen Architecture office site, which is relevant in the contemporary Brazilian scene. Procedures consisted of bibliographical and documentary researches, followed by analysis. The literature was addressed to the architectural photography. The documentary research explored all the photographs available on the office's website, totalling 418. It was established 25 objective parameters, which were recognized in each image, and the data were tabulated. The operation of the entire universe of data allowed the statistical and comparative analysis. The result identifies the most common practices and the nature of the photographic image from that office.

One of characteristics of urbanization in old Iran has been its ways and paths fabric. This characteristic was generally formed in all climates in regard to available substances and materials. This principle has been creating visual coherence, order, and hierarchy. Framework of rural paths is a distinctive example in this regard. The main objective is to exemplify connective coherence of frameworks, surface, roofs, and physical aspects of Iran’s rural architecture as an indication for urbanization in contemporary architecture. So ways and paths of Iran’s architecture and urbanization are studied in this paper by means of a descriptive analytical method, and the data is compiled by field, documentary research. The result of present study is the answer to this question: How can revitalize a city within physical, semantic, and connecting aspects using interaction in coherence of paths components in Iran’s architecture and urbanization?

Architecture is a reality which is recognized within the space. Accordingly, there is a spatial continuity (hierarchy) across various elements in the historical context of old Iranian cities, which had promoted a kind of movement, dynamism, discipline and hierarchy. Without a discontinuity, an individual may find himself/herself within something with the sense of place would be induced into him/her. Iranian bazaars along with adjacent spaces are highlighted examples of such continuity. The present research is mainly aimed at providing a pattern of communication and physical spatial continuity within old Iranian architecture to be used by contemporary architecture. The main research question is that: how can one express the spatial continuity of architecture and urban development across bazaar?Followed in the present study is a descriptive – analytic approach. In particular, Tabriz Bazaar is considered via data gathered by documentary – field methods. The results emphasized on the fact that, meeting the principle of hierarchy, a spatial continuity is established, i.e. any activity defines a specific scope and territory. Furthermore, communication and physical features (the principle of link among urban elements) of architecture and urban development are created. Working as a joint, the principle of spatial continuity either connects or disconnects a place to/from another place; it is the physical connection between the spaces and their continuity.
