The present investigation was conducted to study the effect of zinc fertilization on major biomeric characteristics, yield and post-harvest soil nutrient status. The experiment was carried out at college of Agriculture, Vellayani during 2017 - 2019. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with eight treatments and three replications. The treatments were Absolute control (T1), N, P, K as per POP- 75:45:25 kg ha-1 (T2), N, P, K+ Soil application of Zn as ZnSO4- 10 kg ha-1 (T3), N, P, K+ Foliar application of Zn as 0.5 per cent ZnSO4 (T4), N, P, K+ Zn as Zn EDTA-18 kg ha-1 (T5), N, P, K+ Zn solubilizer -5 per cent (T6), N, P, K+ Zn Humate- 44 kg ha-1 (T7), N, P, K+ K solubilizer 5 per cent (T8). From the study, it was observed that the treatment T7 with the application of N, P, K+ Zn Humate (44 kg ha-1) recorded the highest for enzymes such as carbonic anhydrase, peroxidase and catalase viz., 910 EU g-1, 48.17 activity min-1 g-1 and 27.06x103 units ml-1, respectively. An incubation study was carried out to assess the trend os activity of the enzymes and the results revealed peroxidase and carbonic anhydrase showed an increasing trend in activitfy while peroxidase registered a decreasing trend. Treatment T4 with the application of Soil + Zn as 1.5 ppm ZnSO4 registered the highest value for peroxidase (11.98 activity min-1 g-1) and carbonic anhydrase activity (385 EU g-1) in the incubation study.

The field experiments were conducted in farmer's field at five locations each of kole lands to study the effect of Magnesium (Mg) on yield and soil and plant nutrient status of rice during 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The treatments comprised of different levels of Mg viz; 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 kg Magnesium sulphate(MgSO4)/ha along with control. Observations on growth characters yield attributes, yield and soil and plant nutrient status were recorded. The results revealed that application of 100 kg MgSO4 / ha recorded the maximum number of panicles/m2 (419.13), number of grains/panicle (109.36), thousand grain weight (28.78 g), grain (9.27 t/ha) and straw yield (9.04 t/ha) of rice. The results of pooled data on plant and soil nutrient status revealed that application of magnesium had a positive effect on nutrient content and availability of nutrients in soil. A significant positive correlation was also noticed between Mg application, yield attributes, yield and nutrient contents. The study concluded that application of 100 kg MgSO4 / ha was found to be optimum for correcting the deficiency in Mg deficient areas of kole lands under below sea level farming.

Background: The improvement in livestock productivity may be possible by availing better quality fodder in adequate quantity to the dairy farmers. Zinc deficiency might be a major factor for lower quality fodder of cowpea. Methods: The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design; comprised of three cowpea cultivars viz., C-152, MFC-08-14 and MFC-09-1 and five zinc management practices viz., control; 10 kg ZnSO4 as basal; 20 kg ZnSO4 as basal; 0.5% ZnSO4 as foliar spray at 20 DAS; 0.5% ZnSO4 as foliar spray at 20 and 40 DAS. Result: Results revealed that C-152 showed significantly better quality in terms of higher dry matter, crude protein and total ash; and lower acid insoluble ash, neutral detergent fibre, acid detergent fibre and acid detergent lignin amongst all the three varieties. Though, remarkably higher ether extract was obtained with MFC-08-14. Among the zinc management practices, 20 kg ZnSO4 as basal (Zn3) and foliar application of 0.5% ZnSO4 at 20 and 40 DAS (Zn5) recorded significant improvement in fodder yield and quality traits of cowpea.

The field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2014-15. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design, replicated thrice with eleven cropping systems. Significantly highest NPK uptake (38.97, 13.39 and 34.85 kg ha-1 respectively) was recorded in the cropping system of sole cotton. Significantly highest available N (222.75 kg ha-1) was recorded in sole blackgram and maximum available P (21.52 kg ha-1) was recorded in cotton + cowpea intercropping system. Cotton + clusterbean intercropping system was recorded significantly highest available K (355.60 kg/h

Aims: To study the impact of Urea, K2SO4, ZnSO4, FeSO4 and boric acid on leaf nutrient status of Kinnow mandarin. Study Design: The experiment was performed in randomized block design with three replications per treatment on Kinnow mandarin. Place and Duration of Study: The current study was carried out on seven years’ old earmarked plants at the Horticultural Orchard and in Soil Testing Laboratory of College of Agriculture, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during the year 2016-17.  Methodology: The eleven fertilizer treatments in different combinations of Urea, K2SO4, ZnSO4, FeSO4 and boric acid were arranged in randomized block design with three replications on seven years old uniformly grown Kinnow mandarin trees. All the chemicals were sprayed twice, i.e., first in last week of April and second in the last week of July. Leaf samples were taken in the month of October for analysis of leaf N, P, K, Zn and Fe content. Results: The results of the experiment indicate that the foliar application of Urea, K2SO4, ZnSO4, FeSO4 and boric acid had a significantly positive influence on the recorded parameters. The content of nitrogen, zinc and iron in Kinnow mandarin leaves was recorded maximum when the plants were sprayed with Urea 1.5%  + K2SO4 1.5% + ZnSO4 0.75%, Urea  1.5%  + K2SO4  1.5%  + ZnSO4  0.75%  + FeSO4  1.0%  + Boric Acid  0.4% and Urea  1.5%  + K2SO4  1.5%  + ZnSO4  0.75%  + FeSO4  1.0%, respectively, while phosphorous and potassium content in leaves of Kinnow mandarin remained unaffected by the foliar application of Urea, K2SO4, ZnSO4, FeSO4 and boric acid. Conclusion: Based on this study, it is concluded that the foliar application of Urea, K2SO4, ZnSO4, FeSO4 and boric acid had a significantly positive influence on leaf mineral nutrient status of Kinnow mandarin plants.

The field experiment was carried out during Mar-May 2019 at the Experimental Farm, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalai nagar-608002, to study the effect of different planting geometry and sulphur levels in sunflower + greengram intercropping system on the yield, quality, nutrient uptake and post harvest nutrient statusof sunflower. The experiment consisted of twenty treatments and were laid out in factorial randomized block design with two replications. The treatment consisted of Factor A (different plant geometry levels): M1 - sole sunflower (60 x 30 cm), M2 -sunflower (60 x 30 cm) + 1 row of greengram, M3 -sunflower (90 x 30 cm) + 2 rows of greengram, M4 - sunflower (120 x 30 cm) + 3 rows of greengram, M5 - sole greengram and Factor B (sulphur levels): S0 - 0 kg S ha-1, S1 - 20kg S ha-1, S2 - 40kg S ha-1 and S3 - 60kg S ha-1.The results revealedthat yield, quality, nutrient uptake and post harvest nutrient status were significantly influenced by different plant geometry and various sulphur levels. Among the different planting geometry levels tried, sole sunflower (60 x 30 cm) (M1 ) significantly recorded maximum yield, quality, and nutrient uptake of sunflower. With regard to various sulphur levels tried, application of sulphur at 40 kg ha-1(S2 ) significantly recorded maximum yield, quality, and nutrient uptake of sunflower. Interaction between planting geometry and sulphur levels were significant. Among the treatment combinations tried, sole cropping of sunflower (60 x 30 cm) along with application of S at 40 kg ha-1 (M1 S2 )had a spectacular effect on yield, qualityand nutrient uptake of sunflower.The minimum yield, quality and nutrient uptake of sunflower were recorded in sunflower (120 x 30 cm) intercropped with three rows of greengram along with application of S at 0 kg ha-1 (M4 S0 ). A pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different RSC waters and zinc fertilization on soil properties, yield and nutrient ratios of fenugreek on loamy sand soil. The experiment comprising 12 treatment combinations replicated three times was laid out in completely randomized block design with four levels of RSC water (control, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 mmol L-1) and three levels of Zn (0, 10 and 20 mg ZnSO4 ha-1 soil). Results revealed that under 7.5 mmol L-1 RSC of irrigation water, the ECe, content of different fractions of soil Zn and available soil Zn was decreased significantly, while pH and ESP of soil increased significantly. The seed and straw yield of crop, P/Zn in straw and Ca/Mg ratios of seed and straw decreased significantly with all levels of RSC of irrigation water. While, Na/K, Na + K/Ca and Na/Ca ratio of seed and straw increased significantly. P/Zn and Fe/Zn ratios of seed also increased significantly. The increasing level of zinc significantly increased the seed and straw yield of crop, Ca/Mg ratio of seed and straw. While P/Zn, Zn/Fe, Na/K, Na + K/Ca and Na/Ca ratios of seed and straw decreased significantly.

Tidal swampland is potential but negligible land characterized by poor soil fertility. The study aimed to determine the effect of fertilization packages on the growth and yield of Inpara 2 rice in the tidal field. This research was conducted on the tidal field of Mon Mata Village, Krueng Sabee Sub District, Aceh Jaya, from July to November 2018. The study was designed in a Randomized Block Design three treatments, and three plot replications of 10 m x 10 m. The treatments comprised of three fertilization packages, namely: Farmer’s package A (Urea 100 kg ha–1 + SP 36 50 kg ha–1); Package soil nutrient status B (Urea 200 kg ha–1 + SP36 100 kg ha–1 + KCl 50 kg ha–1), and Recommended package C (Urea 200 kg ha–1 + SP36 100 kg ha–1 + KCl 100 kg ha–1 + 1000 kg dolomite ha–1). The experiment showed that all three fertilization packages significantly impacted plant height, panicle length, number of panicles per hill, grain per panicle, and grain yield. The recommended fertilization package C gave the highest yield (5.20 t ha–1), followed by Package B (4.78 t ha–1) and Package A (3.55 t ha–1). The research suggests that Inpara 2 rice and fertilizers, according to the recommendations, are needed to increase rice productivity in tidal fields.

A pot experiment was conducted at the experimental net house of the Department of Soil Science, Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet, Bangladesh to observe the effect of fertilizers on yield and nutrient uptake of local aromatic rice varieties during the Aman season of 2015. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Five local aromatic rice varieties (Kalizira: V1, Muktasail: V2, Nagrasail: V3, Maloti: V4 and Chinigura: V5) and four packages of fertilizers (F1:  Recommended package i.e. 45-10-20-10-0.5 kg ha-1 of N-P-K-S-Zn, F2: 2/3rd of recommended package, F3: 1/3rd of recommended package, and F4: Control) were used. Urea, TSP, MoP, gypsum and ZnSO4 were used as N, P, K, S and Zn source, respectively. According to the treatment, all fertilizers were applied as basal during final pot preparation while urea was applied in two equal splits (one half as basal and another half at 40 DAT). Nutrient content and uptake of the aromatic rice varieties were significantly affected by the application of different fertilizer packages (with few exceptions). Mostly Kalizira (1.10-0.44-2.31-0.67-13.75 g pot-1 of N-P-K-S-Zn) and/or Nagrasail (1.15-0.46-2.70-0.62-11.74 g pot-1 of N-P-K-S-Zn) varieties showed the highest nutrient uptake in grain and straw with recommended package of fertilizers. While in maximum cases Chinigura (0.41-0.16-0.76-0.197-3.17 g pot-1 of N-P-K-S-Zn) was observed to have the lowest with control treatment. In case of post harvest soil nutrient analyses, Kalizira and/or Chinigura variety associated with recommended package of fertilizers showed the highest nutrient status.

Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo L.) is a horticultural crop of great socioeconomic importance in Brazil and in the world. However, inappropriate fertilization management, such as over-fertilization of soils, may become a limiting factor for its development. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the morpho-physiological behavior of zucchini submitted to nitrogen (N) doses applied via soil and foliar application of silicon (Si). The treatments were distributed in split-plot scheme in a randomized block design, with three replications. The plot was formed by silicon levels (0.0 and 6.0 g plant-1) and the subplots constituted by five nitrogen levels (30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 kg ha-1), adding up to 30 experimental units. Gas exchanges and growth parameters were assessed at 35 days after planting. The data were submitted to analysis of variance by the F test and in the cases of significance was performed a polynomial regression analysis for the nitrogen factor and Tukey test for the silicon factor. The supply of Si positively enhances the effects of N on growth characteristics and gas exchanges of zucchini. The simultaneous application of Si and N does not influence the leaf area of zucchini. The N dose of 93.9 kg ha-1 provides greater assimilation of CO2 in zucchini plants under the conditions in which the experiment was performed.

Background: Blackgram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] is one of the most important cultivated legume crops with high nutritive value and agricultural importance. The productivity of blackgram is not adequate to meet the domestic demand of the growing Indian population. Consequently, there is an urgent need for enhancement of productivity through proper agronomic practices. With this background, a research experiment was conducted in a farmer’s field at Pudhupalayam, Coimbatore to investigate the effect of foliar application of PPFM, plant growth regulating compounds and nutrients on growth, yield attributes, yield and economics of irrigated blackgram. Methods: A field experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications during 2019 (kharif and rabi) season. The treatments include 100% recommended dose of NPK along with foliar application of diammonium phosphate (DAP), brassinolide (Br), salicylic acid (SA) and pink pigmented facultative methylotrophs (PPFM) with different concentration (1%, 2%, 1 ppm, 2 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm, respectively) in addition to control. PPFM and PGRs were sprayed at 30 and 45 days after the sowing of blackgram. Result: The experiment results of the two seasons study revealed that the application of 100% RDF + PPFM @ 2% recorded higher growth characters viz., plant height (cm), number of branches plant-1, leaf area index and yield attributes viz., number of pods plant-1, number of seeds pod-1, pod weight (g), pod height (cm), 100 seed weight (g) and yield viz., grain yield (kg/ha), straw yield (kg/ha) and harvest index (%). As well as the same treatment recorded higher net return and B:C ratio. Correlation and regression analysis also indicated that the yield attributes had a positive impact on the grain yield with a magnitude of 1.91 and 1.67, respectively. Therefore, application of 100% RDF+2% PPFM spray can be recommended as the best technology to improve the yield and economics of blackgram.
