During the second half of 20th century, a high level of plague incidence in the world was in 1960–1979 and 1990–2009. The significant decrease of infection cases was in 1950–1959, 1980–1989, 2010–2015. It is noticed, that the observed cyclical nature of the alternation of high and low incidence plague’s periods, in many respects related to modern trend of climate fluctuations.

Purpose. To consider the concept of “phototourism”, to find out its essence and difference from other special types of tourism, to characterize its classification features. To reveal the prerequisites for its development in Ukraine to increase the tourist attractiveness of the country. Methods. For research, methods such as system-structural, abstract-logical, analysis, synthesis, generalization, observation, comparison were used; classification and literary methods. The system-structural method was used to assess the possibility of the existence of domestic hotels that will be able to provide photo tourists with services such as renting specialized photo equipment, workshops on using cameras, organizing photo tours and others. Thanks to the abstract-logical method, the theoretical aspects of the development and functioning of phototourism in Ukraine were revealed. The comparison method was used to evaluate the pricing policy of digital and film cameras. Results. The classification of photo tours and the specific features of phototourism, which distinguish it from other types of tourism, are given. The main trends in the development and popularization of phototourism in the world and Ukraine are investigated. Foreign photo tours and their specifics are analyzed. A survey was carried out among the population of Ukraine about their interest in hotel enterprises that can provide services for phototourists, organize tours and offer specialized photographic equipment for rent. A comparative assessment of the pricing policy of various types of photographic equipment is provided, which can be used in phototours organized by a hotel company specializing in phototourism. The innovative aspects of phototourism, which can be used in practice in the domestic hotel business, are analyzed. The given examples of such phototouristic regions as Cherkasy, Carpathian, Transcarpathian and Chernigov, which testify to the potential of Ukraine as a country that has the opportunity to expand its tourism market. Scientific novelty. Scientific novelty lies in substantiating the feasibility of creating a hotel for phototourists in Ukraine, as a new way to popularize phototourism in the hotel industry of the country. Phototourism with the use of film cameras is the newest direction in the tourism sector not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world. The practical significance lies in the fact that the popularization of phototourism can bring the industry to a qualitatively new level in the formation of tourism offers and contribute to the creation of a modern competitive tourism product.

Eating is something we all do. We need to in order to survive. However, beyond mere sustenance, food and cooking is something all cultures have embraced. Every part of the world has its own distinct ingredients and dishes that exploit different flavours. An essential ingredient for the evolution of these cuisines is the ability humans have to taste. Our sense of taste allows us to distinguish between the different ingredients, combinations of ingredients and preparation styles and, more importantly, to decide what we do and do not enjoy. Everyone has a unique pallet of flavours and foods they enjoy dictated by the sense of taste. Dr Shinichi Etoh is a food technology expert and researcher at the Department of Information Network Engineering at the Kurume Institute of Technology. He explains that experiencing taste requires a sophisticated set of physiological structures and processes. 'These detect subtle differences in the molecules that make up food at the point of contact, the mouth and tongue, which then transmit this information to the brain,' outlines Etoh. The complexity of this system, like all human senses, is difficult to unravel for researchers and even harder to duplicate artificially. The goal of developing a system to visualise human palatability has been elusive but researchers are closing in on viable designs for such a product and with it, they hope to build a system with which unique consumer preferences can be accurately quantified, adding to the modern trend of ever more customisable products designed to appeal to each person individually.

The paper proposes a scientific approach to determining the impact of globalization processes on the development of Ukraine’s economy based on the analysis of the dynamics and modeling of indicators of the degree of integration of Ukraine’s economy into the system of world economic relations. Globalization is seen as a modern trend in the world economy as a system of interconnected and interdependent economic entities, among which a significant place is occupied by countries. The authors determine the degree of Ukraine's integration into the world economic space by its place in the ratings of globalization and economic openness. Analysis of the dynamics of the degree of integration of Ukraine's economy into the global economy is based on GDP, export and import quotas during 2006 – 2020. Based on the results of the analysis, the authors developed an econometric model for assessing the impact of factors on the globalization index of Ukraine, identified the most significant positive factors, namely the volume of exports of goods and services as a percentage of GDP, GDP, the ratio of foreign direct investment to GDP, the share of innovative exports export of goods and services of the country. The import quota and the corporate income tax rate have been identified as negative factors. Based on the results obtained during the modeling, the authors have developed and proposed a sequence of measures to increase the level of openness of Ukraine's economy in the context of its globalization. Perspective forms of globalization in the context of forming a new perspective of the international community on changing the vector of world economy - from globalization to regionalization and nationalization which have materialized in increasing the volume and diversification of the structure of international trade, intensification of international financial transactions, the emergence of transnational business, a sharp increase in foreign direct investment and intensification of international labor migration.

The Dover Strait is not the most congested stretch of narrow water in the world but it is the gateway used by ships of almost every kind on passage to and from nearly all the important ports in northwest Europe, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. While the recent increase in shipping may not continue at its present rate, the modern trend towards larger vessels and higher speeds has enhanced the hazards to navigation in narrow waters and port approaches, while the volume and nature of modern cargoes have dramatically increased the risk of widespread pollution in the event of any major snipping casualty.

Abstract The object of this research is the activity of 25 leading research universities in the world. One of the most problematic issues is the in-depth analysis of the ranking indicators of world-class research universities in order to identify the priorities for the development of research universities in the European Union. The following scientific methods were used in the research: generalizations, analysis, synthesis, graphical method, and also comparison method. The study is based on data on the global university rankings in QS World University Rankings 2018 and empirical data from publicly available sources provided by the research universities. The article also systematizes the scientific views of the leading scientists of Europe and the world on the course of development of research universities and analyses the experience of implementing joint scientific projects in the EU countries. The importance of international cooperation between research universities in the fields of academic mobility and scientific research is underlined due to the fact that the global challenges and prospects that the research universities in the European Union and the world are facing are transient and create a tough competitive environment. Strengthening their leadership potential and developing entrepreneurial thinking has been revealed as a modern trend in the development of research universities. The article characterizes the 25 best world-class research universities, and the factors which have enabled them to uncover their strengths and systematize the key areas of in-depth specialization. The contrasting differences between the analysed research universities are shown, as there are significant disparities in the total number of students, foreign students and staff of research universities, showing fundamentally different approaches to the organization of educational and research processes, even within a single country. This is due to the fact that the ratio of student per staff representative significantly affects the quality of education. The author proposes the key development priorities for research universities in the European Union, which consist in intensified work on: academic reputation; the number of foreign students; reputation of employers; improvement of the ratio of the number of students to the number of staff; improvement of quality and increase in the number of citations of scientific publications by university researchers; increasing the share of the university’s participation in international educational and scientific networks of other countries and continents.

The development of a market economy involves the socialization of its economic entities, i.e. the direction of their activities to solve social problems. The purpose of this article is to consider the theoretical and practical aspects of social entrepreneurship as a modern trend of economic development. The authors note that the main features of social entrepreneurship are: innovative activities; its dual focus, which combines non-profit goals with the ability, necessity and ability to make a profit; public nature of social enterprises and complexity in the organization and development, the presence of significant risks. Studies of the functioning of social entrepreneurship in the world have identified the following trends in its development: due to the different participation of the state in its support; lack of a single “acceptable” or effective form of social entrepreneurship and a certain generally defined area of activity; the success of social entrepreneurship in the world and its significant contribution to the economy. In Ukraine, social entrepreneurship is a new form of business. The main trends in the functioning of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine are: a fairly wide geography of distribution of their activities, although the vast majority of them operate in large cities; the most common organizational form is individual small business; the main activities are: employment of vulnerable groups and generating income for social activities, etc. However, despite the rather rapid development of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine, the problems of its functioning are: lack of financial and institutional state support; lack of motivation to create social enterprises and low level of public awareness of their significant positive potential; its significant dependence on foreign support and investment. According to the authors, these problems do not allow social entrepreneurship in Ukraine to realize its potential and become a trend of economic development. JEL classіfіcatіon: D64, L26, L31

Digitalization today is a modern trend focused on streamlining processes and improving efficiency. The introduction of information and communication technologies has affected not only enterprises, but complex socio-economic systems as cities, and this predetermined the development of smart cities. Today, IBM, McKinsey or Price Waterhouse are considered the brain centers for the development of this concept, while Siemens, BMW, Mercedes Benz, IBM, Phillips, General Electric, etc., discovered the “smart” city as a future-oriented concept, and chose only that a niche in which they can offer their products and services. The development of smart cities is also influenced by intergovernmental organizations and their specialized departments, as well as research centers, institutes and laboratories. There are more than 100 cities in the world that claim the title of “smart city”. At the same time, their current ratings reflect the implementation of modern information and communication technologies in the life of a person with the aim of improving the quality of his life in the development of the urban environment. The IESE Cities in Motion Index, Global Power City Index, The Global Cities Index, The Global Cities Outlook, Juniper Research, EasyPark Smart City Index ratings provide sufficient and comprehensive indicators to give this title. The developed standards ISO 37120 and ISO 37122 determine the main indicators for smart cities, while the criteria that determine the achievement of city smartness are conditionally formed today, which allows to clarify the semantic loads implemented in this definition, namely, to prioritize technologies for people and society, improving quality of life, and highlight differences with other similar definitions.

Street foods are becoming more and more prominent in countries all over the world. There are many reports of disease due to consumption of street foods contaminated by pathogens. With the modern trend toward more natural preservatives, the use of organic acids can achieve a good microbiological safety in food. In the present study, stuffed mussels were inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium suspension to provide initial populations of approximately 6 and 3 log CFU/g. After inoculation, samples were treated with fresh lemon juice and lemon dressing for 0, 5, and 15 min, and pathogens were enumerated by using direct plating on brilliant green agar. Treatment of stuffed mussels inoculated at high inoculum level, with lemon juice and lemon dressing for different exposure times caused reduction ranging between 0.25 and 0.56 log CFU/g and 0.5 and 0.69 log CFU/g, respectively, whereas in stuffed-mussel samples inoculated at low level, lemon juice and lemon dressing caused 0.08 to 0.25 log CFU/g and 0.22 to 0.78 log CFU/g reductions, respectively. Results of the study showed that both lemon juice and lemon dressing used as flavoring and acidifying agents for stuffed mussels caused slight decrease in Salmonella Typhimurium as an immediate inhibitor, but this effect increased by time. However, treatment of stuffed mussels with the inhibitors until 15 min is not enough to prevent Salmonella Typhimurium outbreaks related to stuffed mussels.
