As an international scientific journal, Studies in Informatics and Control (SIC ) covers the field of Information Technology (IT) and topics related to research areas, as well as important applications in IT, with particular emphasis on Advanced Automatic Control, Modeling and Optimization. SIC has greatly contributed to the areas where it involves since its first online publication way back in 1992. This paper sets out to analyze the structure and the underlying trend of the journal by making use of bibliometric methods. Firstly, the classical indicators are provided to illustrate the performance of the journal. This current study performs an in-depth analysis of the most productive and the most influential authors, institutions, and countries/regions, as well as the most cited research works published in SIC. Secondly, the visualization tools VoS viewer and CiteSpace are used to create scientific maps that may explain the structure of the journal in an intuitionistic way. In the science mapping, the co-citation maps, and the co-authorship networks of various items (such as authors, institutions, and countries/regions) are conducted. Also, the bursts detection of these items are derived. The co-occurrence of keywords and their bursts detection and timeline review are shown, respectively. Finally, some conclusions are given. This paper provides a comprehensive and visual understanding of this well-regarded scientific journal.

Software-defined networks (SDN) are a new paradigm shift in the world of network centralized command and control, providing network omniscience and separates control and data planes. Most of the research work till date focuses on increasing efficiency and manageability of computational and storage resources which results in emergence of current virtualization technologies. The feasibility and applications of SDN in current datacenters and network infrastructures is being studied by academia, industry, and the standardization bodies. This chapter explains SDN concepts and its difference from legacy networking, interrelated terminologies, protocols, programming languages, benefits, and shortcomings. Moreover, exploration of current research areas and techniques along with in-depth analysis and future research directions will be presented.

Characteristics of the industrial revolution 4.0 is the wide application of high-tech achievements, especially information technology, digitalization, artificial intelligence, network connections for management to create sudden changes in socio-economic development of many countries. Therefore, to reach the high-tech time, many magazines in Vietnam have changed dramatically, striving to reach the international scientific journal system of ISI, Scopus. The publication of international standard scientific journal will meet the demand of publishing research results of local scientists, on the other hand contribute to strengthening exchange, cooperation, international integration in science and technology.

For a long time, the study of the brain capabilities for the improvement of the quality of education has been an urgent direction in pedagogical science. Due to the development of digitalization, new areas of research have emerged related to the use of special equipment that makes it possible to assess and control brainwork, develop mental abilities, cognitive functions, etc. One of them is neurotechnology, which is an effective means of transforming the educational process: it offers educational content based on the individual characteristics of students. Thus, a need to concretize the terminology and determine the current research areas arises. The article aims to attempt to fill this gap with the help of a representative analysis of publications on neurotechnologies, as well as the essence of neuroeducation.

The article discusses the Gorilla case, an officially still-contested partial state capture by a single local oligarchic group, in line with the (partial) Elite Cartels corruption pattern in Slovakia. Due to the manner in which evidence, although considered unofficial, was made available, this case illustrates secret political and business processes during partial state capture. The initial absence of the case in public, political, and academic discourses, suggests that state capture can be present and operate undetected for a long time. This study also shows that in-depth analysis of the Gorilla case was avoided by both domestic and international political scientists, despite its paramount practical and theoretical importance. This, in turn, reflects a methodological capture of political science. Consequently, this article disentangles the complexities of the Gorilla case and lays down the foundation for further studies. Specifically, it highlights the need for more careful research, terminological precision in both theory-building and empirical findings on state and media capture based on case studies, as well as re-assessment of the methodology of political sciences used in these research areas.

This study aims to analyze status, trends, and possible future research areas in the literature on “disability and work.” It is an in-depth analysis of articles related to this field, published during 1991–2017, in journals included in the Science and Social Sciences Citation Index. Bibliometric methods helped to describe evolution in publications, the most representative contributors, methods applied, main concepts and theories, and topics explored (content analysis). A co-word analysis allowed to create knowledge maps on topics and identify potential venues for future research. The contribution is threefold. First, it contributes to knowledge advancement concerning disability in workplaces, opening new possibilities to discover important research areas. Second, it offers conceptual, theoretical, and methodological suggestions for future research. Third, it has practical implications related to inclusive strategies and initiatives in the workplace which human resource practitioners can use to promote the participation of workers with disabilities improving their labor experience. Compared with the traditional activated sludge process, a membrane bioreactor (MBR) has many advantages, such as good effluent quality, small floor space, low residual sludge yield and easy automatic control. It has a promising prospect in wastewater treatment and reuse. However, membrane fouling is the biggest obstacle to the wide application of MBR. This paper aims at summarizing the new research progress of membrane fouling mechanism, control, prediction and detection in the MBR systems. Classification, mechanism, influencing factors and control of membrane fouling, membrane life prediction and online monitoring of membrane fouling are discussed. The research trends of relevant research areas in MBR membrane fouling are prospected.

Abstract Enteric (typhoid) fever remains a problem in low- and middle-income countries that lack the infrastructure to maintain sanitation and where inadequate diagnostic methods have restricted our ability to identify and control the disease more effectively. As we move into a period of potential disease elimination through the introduction of typhoid conjugate vaccine (TCV), we again need to reconsider the role of typhoid diagnostics in how they can aid in facilitating disease control. Recent technological advances, including serology, transcriptomics, and metabolomics, have provided new insights into how we can detect signatures of invasive Salmonella organisms interacting with the host during infection. Many of these new techniques exhibit potential that could be further explored with the aim of creating a new enteric fever diagnostic to work in conjunction with TCV. We need a sustained effort within the enteric fever field to accelerate, validate, and ultimately introduce 1 (or more) of these methods to facilitate the disease control initiative. The window of opportunity is still open, but we need to recognize the need for communication with other research areas and commercial organizations to assist in the progression of these diagnostic approaches. The elimination of enteric fever is now becoming a real possibility, but new diagnostics need to be part of the equation and factored into future calculations for disease control.

Axial force monitoring of steel support is one of the important factors for foundation pit safety monitoring. In the monitoring of steel support, there are many problems, such as unreasonable installation of axonometer, irregular monitoring behavior of axonometer, incomplete analysis of axial force and imperfect early warning system. Collecting many engineering cases, and in-depth analysis and research on the problems and irregular behavior of steel support axial force monitoring in every link. The influencing factors and control measures of steel support axial force are discussed in detail, and some useful conclusions are obtained. It has been applied in the actual monitoring work and achieved good results. It is of great significance to guide subway safety construction and promote the development of axle force monitoring industry.
