The objective was to understand the perspective of nurses about the participation of the family in palliative cancer care and to analyze the nursing care strategies to meet their needs. Descriptive and qualitative research, conducted at the National Cancer Institute between January and March 2013, with 17 nurses. Elements of the Roy Adaptation Model were used for the interpretation of the data. Two categoriesemergedfrom the thematic analysis: perspective of nurses about the presence and valuation of family in the hospital; and appointing strategies to encourage family participation in care and meet their needs. This participation is essentialand represents a training opportunity for the purpose of homecare. Nurses create strategies to encourage it and seek to meet the needs. The results contribute to promote the family adaptation and integrity, in order to balance the dependent and independent behaviors, aimingfor quality of life and comfort. Further studies are neededdue to the challenges of the specialty.

Cooperation of nurses needed in helping to resolve the client's problem. Cooperation was an important element in developing quality of human resources and improving performance. The general objective of this study was to identify cooperation-relation nurse with motivation in implementing the family nursing care at Surabaya city. The research method was analytical observational with cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 175 nurses at local government clinic at Surabaya city. The sample size of this study was 122 gained by probability sampling. The research variables include the cooperation of nurses and motivation in implementing family nursing care. Instrument used questionnaire. Bivariate analysis of the data was done by Spearman correlation test. Limit the test of significance is 0.05. The test resulted that there was a relationship of cooperation with the motivation of nurses in implementing family nursing care (p = 0.03). Nurses should develop cooperative relationships in order to increase their motivation to carry out the nursing care of the family.

Every human is getting old and we must attempt to be happy in the old time. The problem is 17.5% of elderly people have poor quality of life and 62.5% are sufficient. Elderly at this level needs immediate intervention because it will be a burden for families. communities and governments. This study aims to analyze the family participation on improving the quality of life. An observational study with cross sectional approach with population study at Posyandu Lansia Mekar Sari Surabaya. We used purposive sampling method. We took 54 samples elderly aged ≥ 60 years out of 96 elderly who enrolled in Posyandu year 2016. Data were obtained from WHOQoL-BREF and family role questionnaire. We analyzed the data with Rank Spearman’s Correlation. There was a positive correlation between the family role and the quality of life (p=0.000.. r=0.568). mainly by environmental domain (p=0.000. r=0.561). psychological domain (p=0.008. r=0.358). and social relations domain (p=0.011. r=0.345). but not for physical domain (p=0.154. r=0.917). The family participation such as adaptation. partnership. growth. affection. and resolve could be one method to improve the quality of life of elderly. Every increasing family value would add up to 26.3-43.2% assessment the quality of life.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to capture the existing relationship between the nursing team and the child’s family; and to learn about the family’s contribution as companion in the hospitalization process. Method: literature review done through the data base of the Virtual Health Library and in journals by means of indexed descriptors, having as criteria for selection: publications in the form of articles in their complete form and which are adequate for the discussion of the proposed theme, being freely available online without any costs and having been published between 2000 and 2011. Results: with the results of the study one can conclude that the relationship between the nursing team and the family is tangibly therapeutic, promoting a relationship of trust which is better for the quality of assistance offered to the hospitalized child. Conclusion: what has been understood is that the act of caring lies somewhat beyond the hospitalized child, involving a family who accompanies the child and ends up sharing the process of caring. Descriptors: nursing care; child hospitalized; professional-family relations.RESUMO Objetivos: apreender a relação existente entre a equipe de enfermagem e a família desta criança e conhecer a contribuição desta família como acompanhante no processo de hospitalização. Método: revisão de literatura realizada na base de dados da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde e em periódicos por meio dos descritores indexados, admitindo como critério de seleção: publicações na forma de artigos na íntegra adequadas ao tema proposto, estar disponível, online, gratuito e ter livre acesso, como também, período de publicação (2000-2011). Resultados: com os resultados da pesquisa, pode-se inferir que relação entre a equipe de enfermagem e a família pode ser considerada como terapêutica, promovendo uma relação de confiança para a qualidade da assistência prestada à criança hospitalizada. Conclusão: pode-se compreender que o ato de cuidar ultrapassa a criança hospitalizada, envolvendo também a família que ao acompanhar o infante acaba por compartilhar o processo de cuidado. ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the family dynamics in face of the reality of the elderly living alone. Method: study of qualitative approach with theoretical reference of symbolic interactionism that involved interviews with families. Data were analyzed by thematic analysis. Results: six families participated in the study. The discourse analysis originated the following categories: The family respecting their decision making; The family organizing itself to the process of living alone after the age of 80 years; The family experiencing the freedom of living alone. Conclusion: in this study, it was possible to identify the facilitation of the possibility of living alone with preparation and agreements between the family during the family life cycle, leading to the feeling of freedom and quality of life of all members. Nursing, as a science responsible for elaborating care strategies, should work together with families to assist in the planning of care plans based on the individual social reality of the family.
