Background Strabismus is one of the most common visual disorders in children, with a reported prevalence of 2.48% in preschoolers. Additionally, up to 89.9% of preschool children with strabismus do not have normal stereopsis. Whether this lack of normal stereopsis affects the motor competency of preschool children with strabismus is unknown. The Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency Second Edition short form (BOT-2 SF) can be a useful tool for screening; however, its sufficiency as a diagnostic tool for children with various disorders is controversial. Objective The aims of this study were thus to examine motor competency in preschool children with strabismus by using the BOT-2 and to evaluate the usefulness of the BOT-2 SF to identify those at risk for motor competency issues. Methods Forty preschool children (aged 5–7 years) with strabismus were recruited, all of whom had abnormal stereopsis. The BOT-2 complete form (CF) was administered to all children. The BOT-2 CF was administered to all children. The scores of the BOT-2 SF were extracted from the relevant items of the BOT-2 CF for further analysis. Results The prevalence of children with strabismus who had below average performance in the composites of “Fine Manual Control”, “Manual Coordination”,”Body Coordination”, and “Strength and Agility” were 15%, 70%, 32.5%, and 5%, respectively, on the BOT-2 CF. Compared with these results, the sensitivity of the BOT-2 SF was 33.33% (95% CI = 7.49%–70.07%) and the specificity was 100% (95% CI = 88.78%–100%). Conclusion Preschool children with strabismus had a high prevalence of impaired motor competency, especially in fine motor competency. The BOT-2 SF was not as sensitive in identifying motor difficulties in preschool children with strabismus. Therefore, the BOT-2 CF is recommended for evaluating motor proficiency in preschool children with strabismus.

Socio-philosophical content of the term “social policy”, its difference from the definition of “political economics” and also some features of technologies in a social area are described and analyzed in the article. The author distinguishes between the concepts of “labor” and “social labor activity” (deiatel’nost’). Using the concept of philosophy of a name developed by A. F. Losev, the definition of the "ideal" (“ideal’noe”) considered by E. V. Il’enkov, and A. V. Dakhin’s definition of “socio-historical memory” the author gives the definition of social policy that is understood as social labor activity (deiatel’nost’) of a man. This definition is focused on the ideas of safety and the development of essential forces of a personality-and-society, which relates to a name of a personality, to a name of a social community, to a name of a man as the complete form of social being, that contains concrete knowledge, experience, attitudes etc. as forms of social existence. The author shows that some aspects of technologies analysis in the social area give reasons to conclude: as distinct from more popular deserted technologies of commodity industry, the social policy area is in need to use another type of algorithms of social labor activity, – these are people intensive (chelovekoеmkie) technologies, the main peculiarities of which are described in the article. Main fields of social labor activity (deiatel’nost’) where people intensive technologies are reasonable to be used include pedagogical, medical, organizational ones etc.

Abstract Background Androgens are well known to be necessary for spermatogenesis. The purpose of this study was to determine Sertoli cell responsiveness to androgens according to age from birth to puberty. Results Testicular tissue samples were studied in a population of 84 control boys classified into seven groups according to age: group 1 (1–30 days), group 2 (1–3 months), group 3 (3–6 months), group 4 (0.5–3 years), group 5 (3–6 years), group 6 (6–12 years), and group 7 (12–16 years). We compared these data with those of 2 situations of pathology linked to androgens: 1/premature secretion of testosterone: 4 cases of Leydig cell tumor (LCT) in childhood; and 2 /defect of androgen receptors (AR): 4 cases of complete form of insensitivity to androgen syndrome (CAIS). In control boys, AR immunoreactivity (ir) in Sertoli cells appeared between 4.6 and 10.8 years of age, Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) ir in Sertoli cells disappeared between 9.2 and 10.2 years of age. Connexin 43 (Cx43) ir in Sertoli cells and histological features of the onset of spermatogenesis appeared between 10.8 and 13,8 years of age. Cx43 ir was significantly higher in 12–16 year-olds than in younger boys. In case of CAIS, no spermatogenesis was observed, both AR and Cx43 ir were undetectable and AMH ir was elevated in Sertoli cells even at pubertal age. In the vicinity of LCTs, spermatogenesis occurred and both AR and Cx43 ir were strongly positive and AMH ir in Sertoli cells was low for age. Conclusions Androgen action on Sertoli cells is required for onset of spermatogenesis and premature androgen secretion by LCT can induce spermatogenesis in the vicinity of the tumor. AR ir appeared earlier than onset of spermatogenesis, with large interindividual variability. The timing and mechanisms of Sertoli cell responsiveness to androgens are important issues for understanding the induction of spermatogenesis at puberty.

The research entitled Tekad choreography by Zhola Verucha Taruna aims to find out and explain descriptively about the form of Tekad choreography, which includes the creation process. The theoretical basis used is the theory of structure, according to Suzanne K. Langer. The creation process uses the thoughts of Alma H. Hawkins and uses the approach of Sumandiyo Hadi to explain the choreographic elements. The method used in this research is Practice-Based Research. The results showed that the choreography of Tekad by Zhola Verucha Taruna was non-literal. This dance form consists of four parts. The use of everyday movements is varied with the Aikido movement of the Muso Jihiden Eishin Ryu flow, which has been developed and uses the ideas of the katana as a symbol property of determination. While the music used is music in the form of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), and lighting is more about spatial attitudes. The process of creating this dance work uses the principle of re-interpreting the Four-Day General Attack of the City of Surakarta with elements of novelty in the form of works through seeing, feeling, and imagining, and manifesting them into form. Determination is the title of a dance work resulting from exploration, improvisation, and evaluation of ideas into a complete form to accommodate messages or contents about struggle or spirit.

Shāh ‘Abd al-‘Azīz was the son of an illustrious Muslim scholar of the Indian Subcontinent, Shāh Walī Allah. Like his father, he was greatly interested in Qur’ānic Studies and wrote a commentary on the Qur’ān in Persian titled Fatḥ al-‘Azīz. This commentary, however, is not found in its complete form anywhere. Only the commentary on 184 verses (ayāt) of the second chapter, al-Baqarah and on the last two parts (ajzā’) of the Qur’ān is published in two volumes. It is commonly thought that the commentary had remained incomplete and only the parts that have been published were penned down. There are, however, certain clues to the possibility that Shāh ‘Abd al-‘Azīz might have completed the commentary but most of it was lost. This article appraises the views about the completion or non-completion of this commentary and assesses the evidence of each side.

Abstract This paper presents a corpus-based perspective on the phonetic fusion of disyllabic words in a Chinese conversational speech corpus. Four categorical types that reflect the phonological features of reduction degrees are automatically derived from gradient, acoustic properties. A transcription experiment is conducted with the most common disyllabic words. Both automatic derivation by acoustic signals and human transcription by perceptual judgment refer to the same sound inventory. We have shown that the complete form of fusion occurring in conversation need not be legitimate syllables and it appears consistently in the form of syllable merger that represents a group of phonetic variants.

Abstract Heating under pressure treatment (HUP) is a method which can keep the complete form of quinoa grain after processing, which is beneficial to the development of subsequent products. The conditions for quinoa heating under pressure was optimized by response surface methodology to be: quinoa grains were regulated with adding 6.3% of pH 7.0 water and heated under 0.36 MPa pressure for 3–5 min, resulting in the predicted maxima of total phenolic content (TPC), Flavonoid and Saponin content were 313.21 mg GAE/100 g, 1.621 mg/g, and 16.78 mg/g and the values of OH Scavenging Rate, DPPH Scavenging Rate, ABST+ Scavenging Rate were 69.45, 91.73, and 52.38% separately. The content of flavonoid and saponin in the HUP samples were more than that in the boiled, baked, and extruded samples, which were close to that in raw quinoa sample, and meaning high retention of active phytochemicals and antioxidation activity in HUP quinoa. The hydroxyl radical scavenging rate is related to the content of polyphenol, flavonoid and saponin.
