The traditional assessment of parasites by veterinarians and medical professionals is une-quivocally negative. In this minireview, we focus on the positive aspects of the presence of parasites in the environment. Most notably, the host-parasite system is a long-term interac-tion because parasites, despite their negative impact on the host, rarely lead to its death. We analysed three important aspects of the presence of parasites in the environment: (i) participation in the regulation community balance leading to changes in the dominance structure, the formation of trophic chains as well as the inclusion of new energy sources into the ecosystem, (ii) control of invasions of alien species to new areas through the im-pact on the adaptive abilities of invaders and (iii) efficient accumulation of heavy metals resulting from the physiological properties of parasite tissues, and thus providing the ad-ditional environmental pollution index. The presented examples show that parasites play an important role as ecosystem engineers, affecting the dynamic balance of ecosystems. The present review aims to challenge the stereotype of parasitism as an unambiguously negative interaction and show evidence of the significant impact of parasites on healthy functioning communities and environmental safety.

Abstract Annotation. The results of a study on the water quality, bottom sediments and coastal soil based on the level of anthropogenic pollution by heavy metal compounds and organic polutants are presented. The most commonly used integral and complex indicators used to assess the environmental safety of territories have been calculated. A comparative analysis, using the Shannon Biodiversity Index, highlighted the total pollution index (Zc) as the most informative, among those analysed, in terms of the impact of anthropogenic pollution on biota. The results established a methodology for assessing the environmental safety of territories that needs to be improved. By using the Maximum Permissible Exceedance (MPE) indicator, objective data will be available when determining the negative impact of pollution of natural environments on the state of ecosystems.

As a result of research into the state of the housing stock in Kiev and the prospects for its reconstruction, the main levels of implementation of eco-energy-efficient measures have been identified, taking into account the increasing cost / effectiveness ratio, which will include problem assessment, optimizing energy costs, eco-energy efficient housing reconstruction, application of innovative technologies. Based on the national and international experience of reconstruction and overhaul, the 6E concept is proposed, which focuses on energy efficiency, environmental safety, economy, ecology, ergonomics and aesthetics of the reconstruction process. Compliance with the basic requirements of eco-energy efficiency in the process of housing reconstruction will ensure the comfort of residents and will improve the level of environmental safety of our country. Introduction of the principles of energy efficiency in the process of reconstruction of housing stock is an integral part of Ukraine's environmental and national security, as it ensures a reduction in the negative impact on the environment and people, and also significantly reduces the waste of the construction industry.

With the rapid development of social economy, the demand for new energy is also increasing, and then the problem of large consumption also has a negative impact on the development of the construction industry. Under the concept of green building, the design and construction units pay more attention to energy conservation and environmental protection, so they actively use photovoltaic new energy in the field of electrical energy conservation of construction projects, so as to improve people's quality of life. Starting from the principles and characteristics of building electrical energy conservation, this paper discusses the methods of building electrical energy conservation, and analyzes how to use photovoltaic new energy in the field of building electrical energy conservation, hoping to better practice the concept of energy conservation.

Industrial enterprises and other business entities whose activities involve direct or indirect impact on environmental components must comply with legal requirements in the field of environmental protection. Over the past 5 years, there have been significant changes in environmental legislation. All objects that have a negative impact on the environment are subject to state registration. When registering an enterprise, it is subject to assignment to one of four categories of objects of negative impact, depending on the industry affiliation, production capacity, chemical composition of emissions, discharges, and other criteria. Currently, legislative innovations are aimed at business development and reducing the administrative burden on business entities, but this creates a threat to the safe operation of industrial facilities. There are more than 340 thousand objects of negative impact on the territory of Russia, of which one third is subject to Federal supervision. According to 2019 data, less than 4% of enterprises had their operational safety audits performed. The detection of violations of the requirements of legislation in the field of environmental protection, as well as failure to eliminate the identified violations, indicates the formation of potential threats to environmental safety. Taking into account the current economic crisis, in which solving environmental problems will not be a priority for business structures, the protection of the population and the natural environment is fully transferred to the state level.

The negative impact on the environment is carried out from almost all oil and gas facilities. One of such objects are wells of any purpose. The causes of negative impacts on the environment from plugged and abandoned wells were identified in the course of the study. Existing methods and technologies of well liquidation and conservation have been analyzed in the article. Existing problems in the legal regulation of the issue of environmental safety of abandoned wells have been investigated. The result of comparison of the international and domestic legislation on this problem has been presented.

From the perspective of crude oil price, this paper investigates the effects of new energy vehicles on air quality by applying a time-varying parameter–stochastic volatility–vector autoregression model. NEVs benefits from the continuous adjustment and improvement of subsidy standards by the Chinese government, and the share of new energy vehicles in the market has been continuously improved. The empirical results show that the increase in new energy vehicles can reduce PM2.5 emissions, which is also consistent with the energy and environment theoretical model, and replacing traditional energy with new energy is helpful for controlling environmental pollution. Oil price has a direct negative impact on PM2.5 concentration, and the influence of new energy vehicles on air quality is also regulated by changes in oil price. A high oil price leads to an increase in driving costs, and consumers are more inclined to purchase new energy vehicles, which achieves the purpose of improving air quality to a certain extent. To improve the air quality, the relevant departments should adjust the subsidy policy of new energy vehicles according to the change in oil price and appropriately increase gasoline or diesel consumption taxes to provide development space for the new energy vehicle market.

In China, debates on energy security are diverse and far beyond geopolitical analysis. Findings from the ever-expanding literature indicate two major schools of thought, namely the nationalist and globalist ones, while a pragmatic approach has been prevailing that integrates exploring domestic sources and engaging external actors when needed. The challenges of having to do whatever feasible to meet energy demands and at the same time, pursuing alternatives that reduce its negative impact on human health and environment, have led to growing pluralism in policy advocacy in China. While the two schools of thought on energy security will continue to compete against each other, the argumentative strength of each school shall be conditioned by many factors influencing China’s macro-economic fluctuations in general and energy economies in particular. The Chinese government’s energy policy-making is expected to reflect a dynamic balance between both schools.

In this study, we defined new energy generation inputs as the installed capacity of solar energy, wind power, geothermal energy and biofuel production, and we defined electricity from new energy as an output indicator. Based on panel data in OECD and non-OECD countries from 2007 to 2016, we used stochastic frontier analysis to calculate the efficiency of new energy generation and analyzed the influencing factors. We found the following results: the efficiency of global new energy generation is improving; the energy price, technological progress and education level have positive impacts on the efficiency of new energy generation; and industrial structure and opening up have a negative impact on the efficiency of new energy generation. Based on our study results, we offer some recommendations to promote the development of new energy generation.

The article is devoted to the new trends of sustainable development of the Republic of Tatarstan in conditions of implementation of the large regional projects. Classification of the most significant regional projects implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan in recent years is presented in the article. On the basis of these projects, new "growth points" of the development of the regional economy are formed. Macro-economic effects of projects’ implementation caused by changes of the key indicators are observed. Activities of the regional authorities to ensure environmental safety aimed at reduction of the negative impact on the environment within the implementation of the large regional projects are described in the article.
