The article is devoted to the study of the interrelation between the phenomenon of «neglect» and the leisure sphere of a minor. Consideration of this social problem has a sociological nature, based on the results of an expert survey in this field. Neglect and homelessness are the result of stagnation and degradation of family, educational and cultural institutions. As a result of such downturns of the most important institutions of the state, there is a degradation of the younger generation and a high level of criminality among minors. Over the past decade, many factors have appeared that undermine the stability of the family and prevent parents from raising their children. Todays reality is the growth of incomplete and troubled families, intra-family conflicts, the number of social orphans children. All of the above allows us to conclude that the phenomenon of «neglect» occupies an important place in todays social policy. Despite the decrease in the quantitative indicators, the importance of this problem does not diminish. The phenomenon of «neglect» in peacetime is described. The research method of such an acute social problem is substantiated. The main stages of collecting sociological information are shown. The results of the expert survey are systematized and analyzed.

In the article, the author raises controversial questions concerning the functioning of the Norwegian institution Barnavernet, seen from both Polish and Norwegian perspectives. A diplomatic conflict, in which the Norwegian representatives recognized the Polish consul Sławomir Kowalski as persona non grata in Norway, constitutes a pretext for discussion. The main thesis of the article is the indication of the different and deep mental characteristics of Poles and Norwegians, which determine the image and evaluation of the institution’s functioning. It is constituted by: (1) the trust, especially bridging trust, significantly low in Poland and very high in Norway; (2) the very Polish “culture of complaining” staying in opposition to affirmativeness of Norwegians; (3) the act of giving more significance to the country while solving the family conflicts in Norway and leaving those conflict, especially the issues concerning children, in the area of responsibility of the family only; (4) mentality based and built on tradition and the past in Poland and the orientation directed towards the future in Norway; (5) high level of social consent to violence in Poland in opposition to Norway, where violence is additionally seen in more sophisticated and differentiated way. The latest research of brain physiologists concerning experiencing violence and fear by the child, especially in the early period of its life proves that the changes in the child’s brain have destructive, and what is even more important, permanent effect. In some way, this fact reinforces the practice of taking away children from their biological families. On the other hand, the trauma of being taken away is not noticed by the Norwegians. In a sense, the diplomatic conflict resulting in expulsion of the Polish consul from Norway can begin the freshening corrections in the functioning of this institution.

Introduction. Professional construction customers (investors) often face the problem of selecting a reliable contractor, when they have to assess construction companies for potential involvement in their projects guided, among other things, by a directly non-measurable emergent indicator of sustainability (from now on referred to as sustainability of a construction company). The given problem is of particular concern as most construction companies are now financially unstable. Materials and methods. The article defines the sustainability of a construction company. It also evaluates the sustainability of a construction company indicator by a number of statistical estimate iterations. The study proposes an evaluation method for quantitative integrated synthetic aggregators of sustainability of a construction company and identifies several private indicators Xj characterizing a construction company’s stable condition. Results. The advantages of the proposed evaluation method for the sustainability of a construction company are as follows: a unified information basis (construction operations indicators) for the assessment of qualitative and quantitative integrated synthetic aggregators of sustainability. This method is based on unified evaluation indicators of construction operations: technical, technological, organizational, and economical. The proposed method has an advantage of the versatility of the resultant own and comparative assessments of the sustainability of construction companies, visual clarity of obtained results, and relative ease of calculation procedures. Conclusions. This study illustrates a procedure developed for evaluating quantitative indicators of the sustainability of a construction company. This procedure offers a high level of accuracy in determining the reasons contributing to the lower sustainability of a construction company and identifying symptoms indicative of loss of sustainability. An integral indicator is formed that assesses the stability of the construction company according to the results of statistical analysis and represents a weighted sum of the values of the initial indicators of construction operations and activities of the enterprise. In this way, businesses can assess both their own condition and the condition of proposed contractors.

Most of the people from various races and nations of the world have reached a high level of material civilization. Nevertheless, the moral and social decline are seen at the same time which leads to numerous consequences such as destruction of the family institution and children, the spread of dangerous diseases, and various other adverse effects. The issue arises from several key factors such as free sex culture or what is called in Islam as adultery. The practice of free sex or adultery is viewed in Islam as a serious social problem and the need to be battled from being transmitted into society. Study after study shows an increase in cases over the years and very a low awareness amongst the public regarding the prohibition of free sex culture and it's implications. The transmission of the culture is now at worrying stage because most of those involved in this phenomenon consists of young people who are an important asset for the future of the country. Therefore, this article will debate the meaning of adultery, the importance of preserving the lineage, Islam and other religions such as judaism and Christianity against the evil of adultery, and the adverse effects caused by the practice. Thereafter, I will formulate the measures and approaches taken by the Sunnah (prophetic traditions) in particular to address this social ill of the society.

© 2020 American Chemical Society. Evidence is presented that the polysaccharide rhamnogalacturonan I (RGI) can be biosynthesized in remarkably organized branched configurations and surprisingly long versions and can self-assemble into a plethora of structures. AFM imaging has been applied to study the outer mucilage obtained from wild-type (WT) and mutant (bxl1-3 and cesa5-1) Arabidopsis thaliana seeds. For WT mucilage, ordered, multichain structures of the polysaccharide RGI were observed, with a helical twist visible in favorable circumstances. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations demonstrated the stability of several possible multichain complexes and the possibility of twisted fibril formation. For bxl1-3 seeds, the imaged polymers clearly showed the presence of side chains. These were surprisingly regular and well organized with an average length of ∼100 nm and a spacing of ∼50 nm. The heights of the side chains imaged were suggestive of single polysaccharide chains, while the backbone was on average 4 times this height and showed regular height variations along its length consistent with models of multichain fibrils examined in MD. Finally, in mucilage extracts from cesa5-1 seeds, a minor population of chains in excess of 30 μm long was observed.

Extraction of microamounts of Sr2+ and Ba2+ (henceforth M2+) from the aqueous solutions of perchloric acid (0.0125-1.02 mol/l) by means of the nitrobenzene solutions of dicarbolide (0.004-0.05 mol/l of H+{Co(C2B9H11)2}-) was studied in the presence of monoglyme (only Ba2+), diglyme, triglyme, and tetraglyme (CH3O-(CH2-CH2O)nCH3, where n = 1, 2, 3, 4). The distribution of glyme betweeen the aqueous and organic phases, the extraction of the protonized glyme molecule HL+ together with the extraction of M2+ ion and of the glyme complex with the M2+ ion, i.e., ML2+ (where L is the molecule of glyme), were found to be the dominating reactions in the systems under study. In the systems with tri- and tetraglymes the extraction of H+ and M2+ ions solvated with two glyme molecules, i.e., the formation of HL2+ and ML22+ species, can probably play a minor role. The values of the respective equilibrium constants, of the stability constants of complexes formed in the organic phase, and the theoretical separation factors αBa/Sr were determined. The effect of the ligand structure on the values of extraction and stability constants in the organic phase is discussed.

ABSTRACTProgress on separating the long-lived fission products from the high level radioactive liquid waste (HLW) has led to the development of specific host matrices, notably for the immobilization of cesium. Hollandite (nominally BaAl2Ti6O16), one of the main phases constituting Synroc, receives renewed interest as specific Cs-host wasteform. The radioactive cesium isotopes consist of short-lived Cs and Cs of high activities and Cs with long lifetime, all decaying according to Cs+→Ba2++e- (β) + γ. Therefore, Cs-host forms must be both heat and (β,γ)-radiation resistant. The purpose of this study is to estimate the stability of single phase hollandite under external β and γ radiation, simulating the decay of Cs. A hollandite ceramic of simple composition (Ba1.16Al2.32Ti5.68O16) was essentially irradiated by 1 and 2.5 MeV electrons with different fluences to simulate the β particles emitted by cesium. The generation of point defects was then followed by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR). All these electron irradiations generated defects of the same nature (oxygen centers and Ti3+ ions) but in different proportions varying with electron energy and fluence. The annealing of irradiated samples lead to the disappearance of the latter defects but gave rise to two other types of defects (aggregates of light elements and titanyl ions). It is necessary to heat at relatively high temperature (T=800°C) to recover an EPR spectrum similar to that of the pristine material. The stability of hollandite phase under radioactive cesium irradiation during the waste storage is discussed.

The polarization of postures in conflicts among parents and adolescents involve a threat for family harmony. Skills for argumentation and perspective taking are required to enable the achievement of satisfactory agreements during the processes of negotiation. The purpose of this paper has been to analyze the skills of parents and adolescents to adopt other perspectives when discussing a conflict by means of observational methodology. The study was carried out with 29 families (constituted by father, mother and an adolescent son or daughter) who were recorded while they argued about a real conflict. Frequency and duration of five levels of perspective-taking were registered (Myself; Reasoned myself; the other like an obstacle; the other adding to me; and us) in the discourse of the family, and also in the different members of the triad, considering their interrelations. The results were showing a moderated level of perspective-taking in family discussions, predominating the levels Reasoned myself, focused on explaining own perspective, and The other like an obstacle, focused on reasons to contest the perspective of the other. In general parents showed more perspective-taking. Particularly the mothers exhibited more sensitivity with her adolescent son or daughter, providing higher levels of perspective-taking and argumentation.

The purpose of this project was to determine if bedside intensive care unit (ICU) nurse buy-in to the Family Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) protocol was sufficient to make implementation feasible at one county hospital in West Texas. Surveys were anonymous with ballot box collection being available to the bedside ICU nurses for one week each. Questions were based on literature findings of expected outcomes, identified barriers and facilitators, Calgary Family Intervention Method framework domains, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Framework for program evaluation. Outcome measures were taken from the stated aims of the project and evaluated from paired baseline and summative survey questions. Survey participation was approximately half of nurses employed in the studied ICU. Analysis of the surveys showed a positive perception of family presence decreasing patient delirium symptoms, and a positive perception of the Family HELP protocol. The results described a high perception of family members as partners in care and high intention to implement the Family HELP protocol, indicating strong support of a full implementation of the protocol. The high level of bedside nurse buy-in present in this study has large implications for successful implementation of the Family HELP protocol in the near future, with sustainability and continued use supported by potential inclusion of the task in the electronic health record charting.

Showing whether the longest-edge (LE) bisection of tetrahedra meshes degenerates the stability condition or not is still an open problem. Some reasons, in part, are due to the cost for achieving the computation of similarity classes of millions of tetrahedra. We prove the existence of tetrahedra where the LE bisection introduces, at most, 37 similarity classes. This family of new tetrahedra was roughly pointed out by Adler in 1983. However, as far as we know, there has been no evidence confirming its existence. We also introduce a new data structure and algorithm for computing the number of similarity tetrahedral classes based on integer arithmetic, storing only the square of edges. The algorithm lets us perform compact and efficient high-level similarity class computations with a cost that is only dependent on the number of similarity classes.
