ABSTRACT. Gastronomy is an inseparable element of human life. It has its own cosmology that ties into the culture of a nation. Comparing two different cultures towards gastronomy opens up a new paradigm of thinking to gather a point of view on the world since it is about intercultural communication which brings students to life skills side by side. This study therefore attempts to analyze interculturality in order to solve the problems of cultural understanding from culinary terms in French and Indonesian as well as the values understood. The research is conducted using the descriptive-qualitative method, observing the data linguistically and culturally. As the data come from different cultures, there are therefore comparative measures. Research results show that gastronomy includes symbols and that it takes a relevant position in cultural conception, especially in the formation of stereotypes. This finding of the analysis is only a simple copy of the intercultural study which still has possibilities to develop. Keywords: interculturality, gastronomy, symbolism.

Intercultural communication develops based on two interconnected premises. First, you live in a time when changing technology, travel, economic and political systems, immigration patterns, and population density have resulted in a world in which you regularly interact with people from different cultures. Second, nowadays, people are very sensitive to the fact that the influence of culture on communication is very close and great. Your cultural background and experience help you determine how the world should be for you and how you will interact with it. Anthropological perspective in intercultural communication is looking at intercultural communication from an anthropological point of view, because the communication already contains cultural values. Intercultural communication is part of the marriage between the disciplines of anthropology and communication which later became a separate discipline both in communication science and in anthropology. Anthropology is one of the fields of science that is the root or foundation of the birth of communication science. In subsequent developments, cultural experts realized the importance of communication in the cultural field.

According to the World Health Organization, human life expectancy has increased signifi cantly around the world over the past century, but this process is inevitably accompanied by aging. Therefore, persons who have reached the elderly and senile age often become infirm, especially physically. As a result, such people find it increasingly difficult to make movements related to self-service and movement when using standard clothing and shoes. In a study of 55 patients (from 60 to 87 years), conducted for the first time from the point of view of medical and social rehabilitation, data were obtained that reveal the nature of physical limitations of this group of people, which significantly complicate them use of standard clothing and shoes. The main conclusion of the work is the relevance of the development of medical and technical requirements for the design and production of clothing and footwear specifically for the elderly and senile taking into account their changed anthropometric parameters and their characteristic functional limitations.

Abstract This study is about heroism in the novel The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. There are three points of discussion under this title: giving protection, defending rights and gratitude. Defending rights is associated with heroic deeds. A hero is a random citizen that rises to an occasion and performs an action of superhero proportions. Gratitude implies thankfulness or an appreciation of benefits conferred together with a desire, when practicable, to return those benefits. Defending rights is tied to human rights which are universally applicable to one and all. These are the significant components of heroism. One of the relevant and outstanding modern theories of heroism applied here is proposed by Gibbon (2009) stating that hero is just an average man who fights to solve a common problem in today’s society. The study is conducted with Descriptive Qualitative Method proposed by Haughman (2009) in which he states that Qualitative research is a form of social inquiry that focuses on the way people interpret and make sense of their experiences and the world in which they live. Kipling leads children down the jungle path into adventures beyond their day to day imagining and along the way he shows the value of ‘doing for yourself', of 'learning who to trust'. The result shows that heroism is highlighted through the major characters and the conclusive points are some of the significant characters such as Mowgli, Father Wolf, Mother Wolf, Hathi, and Bagheera have done heroic deeds. Their heroism is presented in the forms of giving protection, defending rights and gratitude. Keywords: heroism, human rights, gratitude
