Background: Ficus carica and Olea europaea are two medicinal plants which are widely distributed in Algeria, and used in food and traditional medicine. Objective: The objective of this work is the evaluation of the antioxidant capacity of different extracts of F. carica and O. europaea, for ends of flora valorization in Algeria. Methods: The dried leaves of the concerned plants Ficus carica and Olea europaea were submitted to sequential extraction with solvents of increasing polarity to give hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts. The total phenolic and flavonoids were determined spectrophoto-metrically. The antioxidant activity of extracts was evaluated using 1,1’-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicalscavenging and ferric reducing power test. Results: The results of the quantitative analysis show that the Methanolic Extract (ME) gives the highest yield with 16.43% and 19.98% for F. carica and O. europaea respectively. The analysis show that the highest amount of phenolic compounds was recorded in the ME of O. europaea (171.40±6.79 µg GAE/ mg E), when the the highest amount of flavonoids was recorded in the CHE of the F. carica (34.06± 0.05 µg QE/ mg E). In addition, the results show that the Ethyle Acetat Extract (EAE) exhibit the highest antiradical activity against DPPH free radical with an EC50=45.21±1.12 and 8.20±0.37 µg/ml for F. carica and O. europaea, respectively. Moreover, the EAE of the two plants present the highest reducing effect compared to other extracts at concentration of 200 µg/ml. Conclusion: The obtained results revealed the presence of a strong correlation between the antioxidant activity of the extract and its total phenolic content. Furthermore, they reported that the EAE have a considerable antioxidant capacity. This can be considered as an alternate natural source of antioxidants used generally as additives in food and pharmaceutical preparation.

In this study, the extraction parameters for antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of Ficus carica L. latex from White Genoa cultivar were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). Effect of temperature, extraction time and solvent concentration for maceration extraction were investigated. The antioxidant activity was determined with DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) assay and expressed as percent of inhibition. Total phenolic content (TPC) was determined with Folin-Ciocalteu assay and expressed as μg GAE/mL. The optimum points that maximize the DPPH inhibition are 32 °C temperature, 31.50 min extraction time and 65 % ethanol. The optimum points for TPC are 32 °C temperature, 37.50 min extraction time and 70 % ethanol. The predicted DPPH inhibition and TPC at these predicted points are 67.08 % and 313.811 μg GAE/mL respectively. In this model, the F value (26.03 and 20.96), R-Squared value (0.9591 and 0.9497) and signal to noise ratio (13.431 and 12.799) are reasonable to fit the model.

Taxus species in different parts of the world prevent the formation of hepatoprotective, anticoagulant, antiulcerogenic, anti-coagulant, antifungal and tumour cells. In this study, biological activity studies were performed on the leaves, branches and fruits of the methanol extract of Taxus baccata L. species collected from Sivaslı district of Uşak province. The methanol extract of the T.baccata species, the total amount of phenolic content of the sample was found to be 14.76 mg GAEQ/1g dry sample in the highest leaves. In T.baccata methanol extract, the maximum amount of flavonoid content was 0.468±mg QE/g dry sample. Antioxidant activity value as DPPH radical; % inhibition value was found as 93.21%. Based on the results; It can be concluded that the leaves of T.baccata have higher antioxidant activity than fruits and branches. Future studies need to explore the chemical components contained in the T.baccata species to determine and investigate in further detail.

<strong><em>Flavanoid, steroid, and terpenoid contents of 20 Manokwari medicinal plants were analyzed.  The antioxidant activity, total phenolic contents and antitumor activity of 20 Manokwari medicinal plants were also evaluated. The result shows that 83% positif to flavanoid test, 59% positif to terpenoid test and only 25% positif steroid. Antioxidant activity and total phenolic contents evaluated using Ferric Thiocianate (FTC) and Folin-Ciocalteu methods respectively. Antioxidant activity and total phenolic contents of medicinal plants were extracted by the traditional method, boiling in water and also in 80% methanol. Twenty plants evaluated in both exstracts have significantly varies of antioxidant activities and phenolic contents,  A significant and linier correlation coefficient between the antioxidant activity and the total phenolic content was found in both aqueous (R<sup>2</sup>= 0,77) and methanol (R<sup>2</sup> = 0,85). Antitumor activity was tested using cell maurine P-388 and only 2 of medicinal plants are active to inhibit cell maurine P-388. Comparing extraction efficiency of the two methods, the methanol extracted phenolic compounds more efficiently, and antioxidant activity of the extract was higher.</em></strong>

Avocado peel has been considered as a potential source of natural antioxidants in which phenolics are among the most important compounds. Therefore, this study aims to optimize the extraction process of phenolics using response surface methodology and evaluate the corresponding antioxidant activity. From the quadratic model, the optimal condition was determined including the ethanol concentration 54.55% (v/v), the solvent/solute ratio 71.82/1 (mL/g), temperature 53.03 oC and extraction time 99.09 min. The total phenolic content and the total antioxidant capacity at this condition with minor modifications were 26,74 ± 0,04 (mg GAE/g DW) and 188.06 ± 1.41 (mg AAE/g DW), respectively. The significant correlation between total phenolic content and total antioxidant capacity was also confirmed. The aim of this study was to determine the phenolic content and antioxidant activity of extracts obtained from herb of Tanacetum vulgare L. (tansy) harvested in two different locations from the western part of Romania. Aqueous extracts of tansy presented high antioxidant activity that ranged between 295.77 and 653.65 mg GAE/L, and remarkable percentage of inhibition (31.82-65.05 %). The compounds quantified in the plant extracts that were determined by UHPLC are: ascorbic acid, riboflavin, pyrocatechol, rutin, quercetin, and kaempferol. Extracts obtained from tansy flowers showed higher content of phenols compared to that obtained from leaves. Similarly, the flower extracts present a high antioxidant activity that could suggest their use as natural additives in food preservation and also in pharmaceutical industry and veterinary medicine.
