The paper reflects the results of a study aimed at studying the features of the identity of the personality of active users of network mass media of young age. The research is based on the idea of modern authors that identity on the Internet is one of the aspects of real identity that arises due to the projection of stable, significant personal characteristics into the virtual world, the use of the possibilities of information and communication technologies to construct new ones, as well as the transformation of existing aspects of personal identity. To compare the aspects of the identity of the personality of active Internet users (I-virtual, I-ideal and I-real), the criteria of differentiation of existing images, the multiplicity of created Self-images, as well as the degree of fullness and development of specific aspects of identity are used. The degree of differentiation of the types of identity real and virtual-was diagnosed based on the analysis of the results of Osgoods semantic differential; the indicator of the multiplicity of Self-images presented in reality, as well as in virtual space, was measured using the Kuhn-McPartland test Who I am? and its modification Who I am online?; the variability of real personality traits in the aspect of virtual self-presentation was diagnosed by comparing the results of the individual typological questionnaire (ITO) and the method of diagnosing interpersonal relations (DMO) by L. N. Sobchik. As a result of the analysis using theoretical and empirical research methods, as well as data processing methods (descriptive statistics, graphical analysis and calculation of criteria for differences and correlation), it is proved that the identity of the personality of active Internet users is characterized by a greater multiplicity of Self-images, less differentiation of the Self-concept (the image of the virtual Self merges with the image of the real Self), as well as a pronounced tendency to variability of personal characteristics due to an increase in the severity of socially desirable personality traits and a tendency to aggravity of existing ones.

The FOREX market has become a popular ground amongst all kinds of market players. The leverage transactions of the market that may generate higher profit levels with low capital/investments make it very attractive for the individual risk takers. The research investigates the trading behavior of FOREX investors relying on the survey data collected from 167 Turkish investors in 2019. Within the scope of the research, the authors evaluate whether and to what extent behavioral factors, namely demographic characteristics; personal characteristics such as personality traits, love of money, and biases like disposition effect influence investment performance. The results reveal that among the personality traits, openness to experience and conscientiousness have a positive impact while disposition effect and love of money have a negative impact on the performance of investors. Additional analysis suggests that the effects of personality traits and biases on trading performance remarkably change among subgroups of investors regarding their income level.

his paper examines personality traits as antecedents of online privacy concern. The aim of the research is to analyze if and how personal characteristics of Internet users affect their concern for privacy in online environment. The theoretical framework consisting of the Big Five theory of personality traits has been used to test the variations in online privacy concern. The model includes a range of other variables that might affect online privacy concern, such as sociodemographic factors, cultural values and computer literacy. The empirical analysis is based on survey data collected in 2016 on a large sample of 2,060 Internet users in Croatia. Results of bothOLS and ordered probit estimations show that two personality traits dimensions, namely extraversion and neuroticism, signifi cantly determine the level of online privacy concern. The more extraverted, i.e., more energetic and outgoing Internet user is less concerned about his/her online privacy, whilst the more neurotic one is more concerned. Privacy awareness, computer anxiety and previous negative experience were also observed as antecedents, all positively affecting the level of privacy concern of Internet users. The results of this research fi ll the gap in the underexplored area of personality traits and onlineprivacy concern literature and contribute to developing an extended model of online privacy concern.

The article analyses theoretically the problem of human identification in the Internet and studies the phenomenon of an individual’s virtual identity. We have analysed the concept and features of self-presentation as the primary element of an individual’s identification in the virtual space in order to create a desired impression on the individual with an opportunity to be perceived there as he/she want to be perceived in the real world; which, to a certain extent, contradicts to the concept of “identity”. An individual’s presentation via the Internet is often only a manipulation with an impression on him/her and an imitation of sincere communication and frank disclosure of his/her own real identity, since a virtual identity rarely reflects the individual’s true self-image; whereas the question of identity concerns an individual’s real identity in the real world. An individual’s virtual identification is chanced in time from multiple existing identities to Internet users’ tendency to open more real information about them in the Internet space; the ways of virtual identity creation are examined. The phenomenon of an individual’s multiple identification in the Internet is investigated, which is connected both with the period of an anonymous existence of the Network and the desire to study oneself and one’s capabilities regarding the optimal self-representation in virtual space, on the one hand, and with insufficiently adequate self-understanding, one’s real identity as a modern virtualized person, on the other hand. People are inclined to play and experiment with their self-images and self-identification, by constantly changing it and improving it, in particular, by adding desired (idealized) features; and this virtual identity is imitated during communications with other Internet users. That is, playing and communication in virtual space are factors of virtual identity formation, which evidences transformations of identity of a modern individual as a representative of the information society. The conclusion is that people in the Web, partly due to its anonymity, are inclined to manipulate with impressions on them, focusing on their positive perception by other Internet users. As a result, not so much an individual’s virtual identification is created, but a set of mask images, simulacra (which in fact only hide a user, giving out desirable for valid), behind which there is no real identity.

The features of the self-nomination of English-speaking adolescents in Internet communication - in a social network such as Twitter microblogging are discussed in the article. The focus of the article is the anthroponymic units of Internet communication - nicknames belonging to Internet users of the age group of 12-17 years. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to fill up research gaps in socio-, psycho- and ontolinguistics, as well as the unflagging attention of philologists to the anthropocentric aspects of Internet communication. The novelty lies in an integrated approach to the consideration of the features, methods and means of naming teenagers on Twitter. The nominative potential of nicknames is analyzed. In accordance with the nature of the constitutive token, self-nomination groups of autonomous, pseudonymous, and transitional types are distinguished. Conclusions are drawn about the characteristics of the anonymity of teenage names on Twitter (the degree of anonymity and its expressiveness). The authors also dwell on the structural aspect of virtual individual names, identifying the most productive models of property creation in virtual space. The results of a graphical analysis of the research material are presented, accompanied by a quantitative characteristic of paraverbal means. The analysis has established a correlation between the psychological new formations of adolescents and the characteristics of their nicknames on Twitter. It is shown that the inconsistency and originality of the considered stage of the ontogenetic development of users is projected onto their self-nomination.

Psychological correction of Internet addiction is possible by means of art therapy. The advantage of the method is that art therapy acts in the language of visual and plastic expression, which is especially effective in working with adolescents and allows you to use it as a tool for research, development, and harmonization in cases where it is difficult for a teenager to express his emotions verbally. Modern studies of the relationship between Internet addiction and personality traits in adolescents, the relationship between the propensity to Internet addiction and character accentuations in adolescents, and the differences in personality traits and character accentuations of Internet-addicted boys and girls have been analyzed. There is a lack of scientific research on the effectiveness of psychological correction and prevention of Internet addiction among adolescents, taking into account their personal characteristics. Identifying and taking into account such features will further individualize the process of correctional, developmental, and psychoprophylactic activity of a psychologist. A description of the study of the effectiveness of methods in adolescents is given. The results of the analysis of the personality traits of adolescents prone to Internet addiction are presented. The personality traits of adolescents prone to Internet addiction include instability of the emotional sphere, self-doubt and increased personal anxiety, a reduced level of social and emotional intelligence. These personality traits create difficulties in the adolescent's communication with others and his interaction with society and also lead to difficulties in the further socialization of the individual. This further engages teenagers in using the Internet. The analysis of personality traits made it possible to develop a program for correcting Internet addiction in adolescents. Comparative results showed that the number of subjects at risk with Internet addiction and propensity to it decreased. The effectiveness of the developed program is noted.

The goal of this chapter is to describe how the POPC environment operates in tandem with personal characteristics to influence people’s exposure to and processing of political information. In describing the political consequences of the POPC phenomenon we take a social-psychological perspective and focus on the individual level (for a more sociological perspective see the chapter by Vromen, Loader, and Xenos, this volume). We sketch the psychological contours of the contemporary “POPC citizen” and outline recent developments in citizens’ use of mobile information and communication technologies (ICTs) for political information, which have consequences for their individual civic competencies as well as democracy at large.

Internet of Things is a new world for connecting object space in the real world with virtual space in a computer environment. To build IoT as an effective service platform, end users need to trust the system. With the growing quantity of information and communication technologies, the need to ensure information security and improve data security is increasing. One of the potential solutions for this are steganographic methods. Steganography based on the least significant bit (LSB) is a popular and widely used method in the spatial domain.

In today’s America, not every child starts on a level playing field, and very few children move ahead based solely on hard work or talent. Generational poverty and a lack of cultural capital hold many students back, robbing them of the opportunity to move up professionally and socially. Children of immigrants are especially at-risk because, in addition to facing poverty, race, geographical location or economic disadvantages, they are also confronted with failure due to their limited or non-existent English proficiency. This study focuses on the degree to which teachers in a mid-sized urban school district take into consideration the individual needs of immigrant children in the process of their education. The study also examines the preparation teachers have had to equip them with knowledge of best practices in teaching immigrant children, and the relationship between teachers’ practices, beliefs, and their demographic and personal characteristics (age, gender, years of experience, level of education, etc.). Quantitative data was collected via a survey. Interviews with teachers and one central office administrator provided data for the qualitative section of the study. The findings revealed that teachers, in general, appeared to lack knowledge of specific policies for mainstreaming immigrant students into general education classrooms; their use of effective teaching practices for working with immigrant children were limited; and most of the teachers had not participated actively in professional development that focused on teaching immigrant children.

Personal concerns about climate change and the environment are a powerful motivator of sustainable behavior. People’s level of concern varies as a function of a variety of social and individual factors. Using data from 58,748 participants from a nationally representative German sample, we tested preregistered hypotheses about factors that impact concerns about the environment over time. We found that environmental concerns increased modestly from 2009-2017 in the German population. However, individuals in middle adulthood tended to be more concerned and showed more consistent increases in concern over time than younger or older people. Consistent with previous research, Big Five personality traits were correlated with environmental concerns. We present novel evidence that increases in concern were related to increases in the personality traits neuroticism and openness to experience. Indeed, changes in openness explained roughly 50% of the variance in changes in environmental concerns. These findings highlight the importance of understanding the individual level factors associated with changes in environmental concerns over time, towards the promotion of more sustainable behavior at the individual level.
