The purpose of this study is to describe a MSc course aimed at preparing the elite of engineering education, providing knowledge, developing skills and experience that will allow graduates of Master degree programs not only to find a job, but also to build a successful professional career and a happy life consciously. The presented masters course introduces the best practices of leadership development from the rector of KNRTU-KAI, Albert Gilmutdinov (20122021) (based on his book Leadership Lessons), advanced experience in the development of leadership skills from Russian and foreign universities, as well as a unique American teaching methodology aimed at the peculiarities of training engineering personnel. The study reveals the problems of training modern engineering specialists: engineering student negative attitudes (I cannot learn English, it is too difficult to apply for a grant, an interesting job can only be found by acquaintance); inability of young people to answer questions about how to find a job in their life, how to work hard and not get tired, how to become successful and at the same time maintain good relations with people. The team of authors of the course believes that the results of the implementation of the Leadership Lessons project can be of professional interest not only among masters students, but also among all students of engineering schools, increasing the personal activity of students, their demand in the labor market, as well as strengthening ties between employers and the university.

The Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Pittsburgh provides an extra-curricular leadership development experience called the Leadership Portfolio Program. The Leadership Portfolio Program uses both classroom and community-based experiences to develop and refine leadership skills in graduate students who are preparing for careers in public service. This article describes the Leadership Portfolio Program and, based on student feedback, offers insights on pedagogical strategies for teaching leadership to pre-service students.

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a very popular teaching strategy nowadays because it offers a great number of advantages and/or opportunities from a teaching point of view, such as achieving a deeper learning, developing teamwork and leadership skills, or getting the student to take control of what and how to learn. For all these reasons, the authors believe that, in the context of the Master's studies, as the last studies before insertion into working life, the PBL can be a very appropriate teaching methodology, since well thought out it will prepare students for the real situations that they will later experience in their professional lives. The objective of this workis to present the experience of the application of PBL in the development of a common project for four subjects of the University Master in Engineering, Processing and Characterization of Materials, taught at the Polytechnic School of Alcoy, belonging to the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).

The application of constructive geometric modeling to pedagogical models of teaching graphic disciplines today is a promising direction for using computer technology in the educational process of educational institutions. The essence of the method of constructive geometric modeling is to represent any operation performed on geometric objects in the form of a transformation, as a result of which some constructive connection is established, and the transformation itself can be considered as a result of the action of an abstract cybernetic device. Constructive geometric modeling is a popular information tool for information processing in various applied areas, however, this tool cannot be appreciated without the presence of appropriate software systems and developed design techniques. Traditionally, constructive geometric modeling is used in the design of mechanical engineering, energy, aircraft and shipbuilding facilities, in architectural and design engineering. The need to study descriptive geometry at the university in recent years has something in common with the issues of mastering graphic packages of computer programs in the framework of the new discipline "Engineering and Computer Graphics". The well-known KOMPAS software product is considered the simplest and most attractive for training. It should be noted the important role of graphic packages in the teaching of geometric disciplines that require a figurative perception of the material by students. Against the background of a reduction in classroom hours, computer graphics packages are practically the only productive teaching methodology, successfully replacing traditional tools - chalk and blackboard.

For ten years, the Division of Applied Science, University of Paderborn, has gained experience with a four-year undergraduate environmental engineering programme. Up to now, more than 400 graduates have successfully entered a professional career, proving that the educational concept is accepted by the employment sector, e.g. consultants, industry and authorities. Important aspects of this concept are the combination of civil engineering - as a core engineering field - with natural environmental sciences in the basic studies, the coverage of all environmental compartments in the main studies before specialisation in one area, and a strong practical component of the curriculum both inside and outside the university.

Основные проблемы современного образования нельзя решать без его развития. Ученые и практики обращают внимание на устаревшие формы и технологии управления работой со студентами. В современных условиях решать проблемы образования традиционными системами управления и методами становится все сложнее, поэтому возникает необходимость в адекватном построении методической оснащенности образовательного процесса в учебном заведении, что актуализирует необходимость обеспечения системы образования методическими  разработками, дидактическими материалами, которые отвечают современным требованиям педагогической практики. Организационными формами методической работы вуза являются: научно-методическая и педагогический совет; аттестация преподавателей; предметные кафедры, творческие лаборатории преподавателей; школа молодого преподавателя; психолого-педагогические и методические семинары; методические школы преподавателей-новаторов; подготовка методических пособий, публикаций в периодических и профессиональных изданиях. Большинство вышеупомянутых видов методического обеспечения являются традиционными, но все они дают возможность внедрять инновации. Однако обращается внимание только на формы и методы организации образовательного процесса, а не на психолого-педагогическое сопровождение познавательной деятельности преподавателей и методическое обеспечение управленческой деятельности как источника качества и результативности их профессиональной деятельности. Реалии выдвигают новые требования к методическому обеспечению образовательного процесса в вузt, требуя менять цели, функции и содержание, превращая уровень его качества в научно-методический. Суть и назначение научно методического обеспечения заключается в создании условий для формирования и личностно-профессионального становления преподавателей, развития их педагогических способностей, творческого потенциала. The main problems of modern education cannot be solved without its development. Scientists and practitioners pay attention to outdated forms and technologies of managing work with students. In modern conditions, it is becoming increasingly difficult to solve the problems of education with traditional management systems and methods, therefore, there is a need for an adequate construction of methodological equipment of the educational process in an educational institution, which actualizes the need to provide the education system with methodological developments, didactic materials that meet modern requirements of pedagogical practice. Organizational forms of methodological work of the university are: scientific and methodological and pedagogical council; certification of teachers; subject departments, creative laboratories of teachers; school of a young teacher; psychological, pedagogical and methodological seminars; methodological schools of innovative teachers; preparation of methodological manuals, publications in periodicals and professional publications. Most of the above-mentioned types of methodological support are traditional, but all of them make it possible to introduce innovations. However, attention is drawn only to the forms and methods of organizing the educational process, and not to the psychological and pedagogical support of the cognitive activity of teachers and methodological support of managerial activities as a source of quality and effectiveness of their professional activities. The realities put forward new requirements for the methodological support of the educational process at the university, requiring changing the goals, functions and content, turning its quality level into a scientific and methodological one. The essence and purpose of scientific and methodological support is to create conditions for the formation and personal and professional development of teachers, the development of their pedagogical abilities, creative potential.

[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] Prior research identified the logical chain from strategic coverage to cynicism to demobilization. Considering the fact that party identification anchors an individual's patterns of political behavior, and that political cynicism might be negative attitudes generalized from particular leaders or political groups to the political process as a whole, the present study postulated that party identification mediates the effect of conflict coverage on political participation. The results from an experiment conducted in the context of Korean politics were as expected. Strategic coverage engendered negative feelings toward political parties; issue coverage made party identification more polarized than before. Party identification change, in turn, had a significant impact on political participation. Strategic coverage depressed the intention of political participation while issue coverage facilitated political participation.

Abstract As oil and gas industry technical professionals land their first supervisory roles, gaps in their leadership skills often become apparent. Years of technical education and training have prepared them well for roles as individual technical contributors, but stronger business, management, and leadership skills are needed as they move into emerging leadership roles in which they direct others. Competency assessments of first-level supervisors and mid-career experienced hires are conducted to determine mission-critical leadership gaps. This process is done in alignment with competency-focused job descriptions that enumerate key soft skills needed in each leadership role and build on a sound foundation of technical competency. Bringing emerging leaders together as a group enhances their networking opportunities as they advance through the program; including experienced hires helps them become attuned to the company's management style. Learning opportunities can include face-to-face instruction, webinars, e-learning, online resources, exercises, business simulations, and coaching and mentoring. Building future leaders is key to succession planning. Introducing experienced hires to the leadership styles of the company ensures the successful integration of new talent into the team. A competency-based approach to assessing emerging leaders provides the roadmap for creating a deep bench of candidates for future roles in executive management. Experienced instructors and mentors are crucial to ensuring the leadership program delivery is aligned with the corporate mission, vision and values. The delivery of the leadership development program can be self-sustaining if program graduates and external expert facilitators are incorporated into the delivery of the program to future cohorts. Technical professionals progress through supervisory/management positions on their respective career ladders primarily by ‘learning on the job' rather than through formal training. This paper looks at differences between the current state of supervisory development and what professionals actually need in leadership skills. These are new skills needed for transitioning from supervisor/manager to an effective leader. New methods of digital delivery allow greater interaction between participants and instructors. Building an innovative leadership development program enhances the company's brand and attracts and retains top talent.

The social change model (SCM) of leadership development defines all students as potential leaders. Service acts as a powerful means for developing leadership skills within our students. After the 20th anniversary celebration by the International Leadership Association of the SCM, the authors wanted to illustrate how practice can inform research as they applied the model to a 4-year leadership program. The President’s Leadership Fellows is a 4-year program where all students have an opportunity to develop into leaders through classroom and cocurricular leadership experiences. Students actively participate in individual and group activities designed to experience social change and leadership theory on a practical, personal level. The students can then identify with the key elements of the SCM framework. This article outlines this leadership program and how it can help inform further research from practice.

The Community Champions program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing provides motivated nursing students with opportunities to partner with the greater Philadelphia community and engage in hands-on learning. With several thriving initiatives, students participate in service learning outside of the classroom, which ultimately strengthens their nursing and leadership skills. Students work to improve health and health education for people of all ages. These experiences help nursing students better understand the social determinants of health and how they impact community members. Dedicated faculty members assist in guiding the students, who work collaboratively to exchange ideas and methods. This program not only has an effect on the community, but also has a profound impact on the students that participate.
