Learning Management Systems are very popular nowadays. They have many functions to support the learning process, classes home assignments, communications, and progress tracking. However, it lacks the functionality for the management staff like scheduling (planning) and reporting. Here we propose the software solution, which solves this issue and provides the scheduling for the classes in a school or university, considering requirements, limitations, and wishes. An innovative approach was applied to the scheduling problem. This solution is based on the workforce management techniques known previously. The first positive feedbacks from Iraq schools, where we implemented this solution, support us for the next development and improvements of the system. The focus of the paper is the scheduling module of the system developed, the context of the task (the scope), and arguing why it is important. The method from the area of workforce management systems was taken, adopted, and applied to the new task of school scheduling construction. This is the novelty of the presented work.

The purpose of this study is to explore how the frequent use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) features improve learners’ interactions. In this structural equation, modelling was applied to examine how the regular use of LMS features improve learners’ interactions. The study was a survey that made use of the questionnaire for data collection. A total of 362 students responded to the questionnaires used in the study. The results indicated that the frequent use of LMS features help learners to interact with content as well as the instructor but not with their peers during the learning process. It is hoped that the outcomes of this study can be used in shaping Innovative practices in Higher Education and beyond. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0720/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

The use of information technology and, in particular, learning management systems, increases the ability of both the teacher and the learner to achieve their goals in the educational process. Such systems provide educational content, help organize and monitor training, collect progress statistics, and can also take into account the individual characteristics of each user of the system. The purpose of this study is to determine the direction of development of modern learning systems and technologies for their implementation. The evolution of learning management systems, the transition to intelligent learning systems, the main stages of such systems were reviewed, the types of learning sequences were analyzed, the transformationinto adaptive learning systems was identified, and the scheme of the system and its mathematical model were presented. Expertise systems, the theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, cluster analysis, as well as genetic algorithms and artificial neural networks are defined as the mechanisms for implementing the learning systems. An artificial neural network in an adaptive learning system will allow you to create a unique training program that will build on existing knowledge and the level of perception of educational material by students. By formalizing the intellectual processes that both the teacher and the student carry out, it is possible to automate a certain part of the teacher’s functions, reduce the cost of manual labor, which will make it easier to monitor the learning process and also make the learning process more efficient.

This study aims to defining the uses of communicative and collaborative activities in learning process via Moodle platform, through a descriptive research. This platform is a kind of the learning management systems (LMS), it is specially designed to manage interactive electronic lessons, with the aim of supporting the learning process, whether hybrid learning (in Classroom and via platform) or completely virtual learning. In this research, we will focus on the most important uses and features it provides, as well as the contribution of the educational activities to creating new tools of communication between students and teachers and how to make learning process more interactive than classroom courses, so we describe and analyze in this study the most useful educational activities in Moodle platform (forum, chat, wiki, glossary, survey and database) and the different uses through the examples that we created. The most important results of this study are: The E-learning platforms Moodle provided an environment for active learning through communicative and collaborative activities that simulate the Learning process in the classroom. Indeed, these activities made it easier for teachers to follow the learners better than what is available in the classroom, and enabled their learning to be assessed better. Therefore, the challenge is how to design educational activities for achieving the objectives of the lessons in E-learning platforms.

To maintain continuity of education, school management was confronted with a conflicting situation of mobilizing the student learning process and simultaneously maintaining COVID-19 protocols without having the cushion of using online medium in the village. The mission was accomplished through an extraordinary education delivery system which was non-technical, cost-effective, prudent, and still efficient that would revitalize education by using the existing village resources. This case documents how Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya achieved this unexpected goal which illustrates how frugal techniques can be effective in any management process if the vision for work remains the centripetal force in the organization.

In recent years, the term E-learning has become widespread, meaning the process of learning in electronic form via the Internet or Intranet using learning management systems. We analyzed practical instruments that have been used in e-learning in Russia during the pandemic crisis of COVID-19 and students’ reaction. It is emphasized that the e-learning was obligatory for the introduction, which means that the professors and students mostly were not ready for such a decision. Both students and professors had to adapt to the new environment, find new ways of interaction and collaboration. Based on challenges, student’s attitude and perception of the e-learning process, we have shown findings of e-learning barrier factors (including personal perception and language skills). We have provided some practical ways to overcome barrier factors.

The author reviews the peculiarities of digitalized learning process organisation in the hardware and software environment of learning management systems in the context of vocational education and training. The author notes the complexity of the transition to the Industry 4.0 and mentions the risks connected with the named process in the vocational education and training. In such conditions it is important to develop effective models of public and private partnership, to decentralize administration and financing and, above all, to assure the vocational education and training quality. At the same time the learning process taking place in such an environment becomes digitalized, which, on the one hand, gives it additional advantages (easy access to training data regardless of time and place, individualisation of students’ learning paths, broad multimedia resources, etc.) and, on the other hand, requires solving complex tasks in distance courses designing. The author focuses on the methodology of distance courses designing, so it is very important for vocational education and training institution to ensure the realisation of the following five main components: regulatory, financial, technical, personnel, teaching and methodological support. It is emphasised that distance course designing becomes the most important aspect of implementing the modern digitalized learning process. The structure of creative group in distance courses designing is grounded, which comprises: a specialist in the relevant vocational sphere, specialist in distance learning, technical specialist (system administrator or distance courses programmer) and digital content designer.

The major disadvantage of the current Learning Management Systems is the lack of learner assistance in their learning processes and, therefore, they can not replace the presence of the teacher who ensures the progress of learning. In fact, we proposed to integrate, for each learner, a metacognitive agent that supported the metacognitive assistance and extracts the defectsin the learning process and strategies. The goal is to invite the learner to correct himself and improve his learning method. Metacognitive questionnaires were distributed to a group of 100 students before, during and after a computer course. The goal is to evaluatethe metacognitive attributes and to determine their influence on the success of learning. Decision trees were used as data analysis tools to extract a set of rules and to discover the influence of these metacognitive attributes on the result obtained by the learners. The results indicate that there are relationships between the different metacognitive attributes and the learners’ success. We note there is the influence of metacognitive incitement on learner outcomes, which reflects the degree of understanding of a learning pedagogical unit by the learner.
