The research was focused on the book Your Body, where vocabulary connected to body was being taught. New vocabulary was presented in the context, afterwards, new vocabulary and phrases were being thought through the mind maps. The case study approach was used to get an in-depth analysis of the research problem. The main aim of the research was to connect language and content, where the main emphasis was put on the content. The paper answers the research question focused on the role of the books in language and content integrated learning.
Portfolio learning has been utilised in education for many years and a natural development in today's digital environment has been the move from paper to electronic portfolios (e-portfolios). The development of e-portfolios in New Zealand has also been driven by two forces- the emerging view that e-portfolios can be an effective way to support constructivist approaches to learning and help develop students into 'lifelong learners' ; and the beliefs about today's digital environment and the way in which students should and do operate within this. In many ways, e-portfolio research is a relatively young field of study and much of the research that has been conducted has occurred in the tertiary environment and related to the perceptions of the instructor or technologist. In an attempt to add depth to current e-portfolio research, this study made use of a mixed-methods, descriptive case study approach in order to focus on the perceptions of a group of high school students and the way in which they experienced using the e-portfolio application MyPortfolio for the first time. Key findings of this study focus on the way in which students experienced using MyPortfolio and the fact that although it is often claimed that e-portfolio tools can be effective in helping developing reflective thinking in students, overall, the students in this study predominately saw MyPortfolio as a tool to organise and process knowledge rather than something that could help them to engage in 'deep learning'. The experiences and perceptions of the students in this study also challenged ideas about how much students want to use ICT within the school environment and this study suggests that increased use of ICT can lead to students missing the social interaction that usually occurs within the classroom. In a similar vein, the students in this study also challenged the idea of the 'digital native' and their experiences suggest that, as with any area of learning, students' skills with using ICT varied greatly. The way that the students in this study made use of MyPortfolio also demonstrates the fact that although e-portfolio tools such as MyPortfolio offer students the opportunity to engage in reflective learning, they do not necessarily undertake this naturally. Finally, the findings of this study highlight the role of the teacher in supporting effective use of ICT for learning.

This research titled: “Effect of Learning Simile on Essay Writing Skills of SSI Arabic Secondary Students in Kaduna State, Nigeria,” tried to unravel the subject matter. The research problem emanated from the weaknesses experienced by the researchers in the essay writing of the students in the course of their teaching at secondary levels. Thus, they formulated a research question with the aim of answering it through the usage of the experimental method. As such, they grouped their students into two: experimental and Control group, in which each of the groups consisted of ninety (90) students. The experimental group was taught simile using particular treatment, while the control group was taught conventionally. Consequently, it was vividly clear that those exposed to special treatment performed better than their counterpart in essay writing. Thus, the researchers recommend that: Teachers should give serious attention to the use of special treatment in the course of teaching rhetorics, as this would enhance their performance in writing skills. The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) was also advised to consider what will improve the teaching/learning of rhetorics in the course of their curriculum development and implementation.

The mind map was applied in four meeting with 27 second-grade senior high school students. Students were put in groups and each groups was assigned to design a mind map of skeletal system concept. The data of learning community was obtained from: 1) The mind map results from all groups, 2) The discussion along every group to arrange the mind map, and 3) The students’ scores of skeletal system concept test. The instruments used were rubric of mind map assessment, observation sheet, and essay test. Qualitative descriptive was used to analyse data. The results showed that 80% of the mind map achieved the assessment rubric while the activity of students was 64.4%. The last, the highest grade of students’ test was gained by group 4, that was 8.84 out of 10. AbstrakPenelitian ini mendeskripsikan potensi penggunaan peta pikiran melalui learning community (LC) sebagai upaya meningkatkan aktifitas belajar siswa pada materi system gerak. This study aims to test empirically the effect of the mind maps visual learning method on increasing the self-efficacy of learning mathematics in junior high school students. The research design used a quasi-experimental design with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were collected using a non-random purposive sampling technique with 22 students who had moderate to low self-efficacy scores. Data collection used the mathematics self-efficacy scale, and data analysis using repeated analysis of variance. The results showed that there was a difference in the average score of learning mathematics self-efficacy between pre-test and post-test. This finding may indicate that the mind maps visual learning method has a positive effect on increasing the self-efficacy of learning mathematics in junior high school students. The increase in the average self-efficacy score in the generalization dimension was 5.8 points, the level dimension was 4.5 points, and the strength dimension was 3.1 points.

Mind Map is a method or way of taking notes creatively by utilizing the work of the two brains as outlined on paper in the form of pictures, symbols, writing and colors. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of Mind Maps in student learning activities in physics subjects and to find out students' abilities in making Mind Maps. This research is included in descriptive qualitative research using questionnaires and interviews as well as the results of high school students' Mind Map products. The number of respondents was 243 students from SMA Negeri 11 Surabaya, SMA Negeri 12 Surabaya, SMA Negeri 13 Surabaya and SMA Wijaya Putra Surabaya. As for the Mind Map product, the researchers collected 123 Mind Maps. The results showed that 93.8% of students knew and understood the Mind Map and 60.5% answered that they never made a Mind Map in physics lessons. It was found that students' mistakes in making Mind Maps were that students still ignored the Mind Map format in the categories of images, colors and branches. So it can be concluded that the use of Mind Maps in student learning activities in physics subjects is still lacking or rarely used and the ability of students' Mind Maps is included in the good category but there are still errors or inappropriate formats in making the Mind Map.
