Coronavirus infection caused by a new strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus contributed to an increase in the number of infectious patients. The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and Rospotrebnadzor took over the organization of work to combat the pandemic. In Moscow, medical and preventive events were organized by the Government of the capital and the Department of Health of the city. As soon as possible, it was decided to reassign medical institutions to infectious hospitals for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 or with suspicion of it. “Maternity hospital No. 8” – the branch of State Clinical Hospital named after V. P. Demikhov was redesigned as a hospital on March 13, 2020. The decision was due to the presence of isolated boxes and an intensive care unit in the institution. The task was solved in one day: the first patients with coronavirus infection were admitted to the hospital for medical care at 17:00 on March 13, 2020.

Aim. To study the causes of falciparum malaria deaths in Russian Federation and to optimize therapy for severe forms of the disease. Materials and methods. The analysis of falciparum malaria cases with deaths recorded in Russian Federation from 2013 to 2017 was conducted. The results of optimization of pathogenetic therapy of severe forms of falciparum malaria for the prevention of adverse outcomes in the intensive care unit of the Infectious Clinical Hospital №2 of Moscow in 44 patients with severe course are presented. Treatment, clinical laboratory and instrumental investigations were carried out in accordance with our intensive care protocol, which took into account the current WHO recommendations. Results. From 2013 to 2017 there were nine deaths from falciparum malaria reported in patients from African countries (6) and India (3). In Russia, due to the lack of effective drugs of artemisinin group, quinine with tetracycline or doxycycline is used for etiotropic therapy of patients with complicated form of falciparum malaria. In the management of such patients, the basis for treatment was the prevention of ischemic, reperfusion injuries of organs and hemorrhagic complications. In the infectious clinical hospital №2 of Moscow, since 2007, the intensive care unit has developed and tested a protocol for intensive therapy in patients with severe and complicated forms of falciparum malaria, including preventive methods of extracorporeal hemocorrection with prolonged veno-venous hemodiafiltration therapy and plasmapheresis, as a result of which the mortality rate decreased from 84 to 6.8% Conclusion. The country's lack of anti-malarial drugs, the insufficient awareness of the population about the risk of infection and measures to prevent malaria, late referral of cases for medical care and errors of clinical diagnosis and treatment annually lead to fatal outcomes. In such situation, the experience of optimizing the treatment of severe falciparum malaria is particularly useful, allowing decreasing the mortality.

Aim: to identify risk factors for Clostridium difficile infection in patients of a therapeutic clinic in a multidisciplinary hospital. Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of 110 case histories of patients who were hospitalized in therapeutic departments in the Municipal Autonomous Institution “City Clinical Hospital No. 40” in Yekaterinburg (MAU City Clinical Hospital No. 40) in 2014-2015 was conducted, in which antibiotic therapy has developed diarrhea. According to the results of the study of coprofiltrate on Clostridium difficile (CD), patients were divided into 2 groups: 60 patients with a positive result and 50 patients with a negative result. Results. The proportion of patients with CD infection in the structure of patients of the therapeutic profile of the MAU GKB No.40 for 2014-2015 amounted to 0.42%. Predictors of the risk of developing diarrhea associated with CD infection in patients are: age over 65 years (OS 4.33, 95% CI 1.15-16.20, p=0.028), Charlson comorbidity index more than 2 points (OS 3.05, 95% CI 1.29-7.23, p=0.016), the presence of anemia (OR 2.32, 95% CI 1.07-5.02, p=0.048), chronic dialysis in patients with chronic renal insufficiency (CRF) (OR 8.64, 95% CI 1.05-70.81, p=0.020), patients staying in hospital for more than 5 days (OR 3.50, 95% CI 1.57-7.75, p=0.003) and hospitalization of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) lasting more than 1 day (OS 9.80, 95% CI 1.20-79.47, p=0.011), the use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) (OR 2.82, 95% CI 1.12-7.11, p=0.041), antibiotic therapy more than 10 days (OS 39.62, 95% CI 10.85-144.71, p

AbstractIt is an honour to present the Anthony Chang lecture at this 10th International Conference of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. I have had the privilege of knowing Dr Chang for over 20 years, and although we only worked for a short period of time together at the Children’s Hospital, Boston, in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, we have remained close colleagues and friends since that time. The contributions of Dr Chang to the development of paediatric cardiac intensive care are very clear, based on his clinical expertise, research and scholarship, and the development of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society in its early days. More than this, Dr Chang is an individual with vision; in many respects, he has been ahead of the curve, anticipating and leading the direction of paediatric cardiac intensive care.

Legal regulation of the use of video technologies in the Russian criminal procedure is conducted on the international and domestic levels. However, based on the primacy of international law recognized by the Russian Federation, the marker is the position of international community that is reflected in the normative legal acts of its special bodies, as well as on the doctrinal level. This article carries out the chronological analysis of the acts issued by international bodies and organizations pertaining to the use video conferencing in criminal proceedings. The subject of this research is the acts of international bodies and organizations that underlie the development of the national legal framework for the use of video conferencing in the Russian Federation. The analysis of normative acts that regulate the use of video conferencing in the Russian criminal procedure demonstrate that for the most part this question is being addressed in the international agreements ratified by the Russian Federation, rather than in the national legislation (considering the provisions of the Part 3 of the Article 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation). Leaning on the acquired results, the author concludes that such tendency can be explained by a number of circumstances, namely lag in the rates of digitalization compared to the leading European practices, insignificant period of approbation of the results of using video technologies, as well as relatively short period of intensive implementation of such technologies due to the amendments in criminal procedure policy of the country, which now requires exhaustive normative regulation. The author believes that it is more appropriate to begin the analysis of normative acts that determine the legal framework for application of video conferencing in criminal proceedings of the Russian Federation with the general principles and norms of international law and international agreements, since their role in intensification of the process of digital transformation of criminal procedure in Russia cannot be overestimated.

Questions of the organization of rendering an emergency medical service to the children's population of the Russian Federation are considered. They are connected with a demographic situation in the country - growth of the children's population, decrease in indicators of infantile and maternal mortality. Against common problems of system of rendering an emergency medical service in the country its pediatric link looks rather safe. Protection of motherhood and the childhood was and remains the priority direction of a state policy of our country.
