(1) Background: Academic engagement has been reported in the literature as an important factor in the academic achievement of university students. Other factors such as emotional intelligence (EI) and resilience have also been related to students’ performance and quality of life. The present study has two clearly delimited and interrelated objectives. First, to study the mediational role that engagement plays in the relationship between EI and resilience on quality of life. Secondly, and similarly, to study the mediational role of engagement in the relationship between EI and resilience, but in this case on academic achievement. (2) Methods: For this purpose, four scales frequently used in the literature to measure emotional intelligence, resilience, academic engagement and quality of life were administered to 427 students of the University of Jaén undertaking education degrees. In addition, students were asked to indicate their current average mark as a measure of academic performance. Two mediational models based on structural equations were proposed to analyse the relationships between the proposed variables. (3) Results: The results obtained showed that emotional intelligence and resilience directly predicted students’ life satisfaction, but this direct relationship did not result in academic performance. In addition, and assuming a finding not found so far, engagement was shown to exert an indirect mediational role for both life satisfaction and academic performance of students. (4) Conclusions: The findings of the study support the importance of engagement in the design and development of instructional processes, as well as in the implementation of any initiative.

Background: The social networks are used today as one of the important tools in establishing communication between people. In addition to the advantages, it can also have several disadvantages and problems, the negative effects of which can be seen on the academic performance of students. Objective: This study was designed to investigate the role of excessive use of virtual social networks on the academic performance of Bamyan University students with a mediating role of quality of sleep. Methodology: The present study has a descriptive-correlational design. A total of 180 Bamyan University students (90 male and 90 female) were selected by convenience sampling method and responded to the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Questionnaire (Buysee et al., 1989), Yang Internet and Social Network Addiction Questionnaire, Demographic Questions, and GPA of last semester. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test and hierarchical regression analysis by means of SPSS-24. Results: The results showed that the excessive use of social networks had a significant negative correlation with academic performance and predicts it inversely (T = -9.338, ß = - 730) and There is also a significant relationship between excessive use of social networks and quality of sleep (T = 15.726, ß = .763). There was a significant relationship between social and sleep quality (T = 15.726, ß = .763). But sleep quality could not play a mediating role between excessive use of social networks and students' academic achievement and showed that this relationship is not significant (T = -. 174, ß = -. 014). Conclusion: Excessive use of social networks has negative effects on students' academic achievement and quality of sleep. For this purpose, it is necessary to manage the use of social networks for optimal use in order to achieve high academic achievement and good quality of sleep.

(1) Background: Adolescence is a critical stage in the development of healthy habits. In this regard, physical activity has emerged as a useful tool to improve satisfaction with life and health-related quality of life in adolescents. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the mediating role of physical activity in the relationship between satisfaction with life and health-related quality of life in adolescent boys and girls. Also, we aimed to investigate the differences between sexes in the HRQoL, physical activity level, and satisfaction with life. (2) Methods: A total of 297 adolescents, ranging in age from 11 to 12 years (11.46 ± 1.63), participated in this cross-sectional study. The Satisfaction with life scale, Physical activity Questionnaire for Adolescents and the KIDSCREEN-10 questionnaires were employed. (3) Results: The estimated indirect effect showed that physical activity level was a mediator of the positive effect of satisfaction with life on health-related quality of life (β = 0.105, 95% CI = 0.031; 0.202). However, the index of moderated mediation showed that sex is not a significant moderator of the mediating role of physical activity in the relationship between satisfaction with life and HRQoL (β = −0.033, 95% CI = −0.023, 0.136). Furthermore, significant differences in satisfaction with life were found, with girls manifesting lower values (p-value = 0.026). (4) Conclusion: This study shows the importance of physical activity during adolescence and the association of this behavior with the health-related quality of life of adolescents.

Abstract Access to beauty is intrinsic to psychological, social, and spiritual health. Aesthetic sensibility includes awareness initiated in both mind and emotion accessed through nurturing environments (Caspari, Eriksson, & Naden, 2011). While individual tastes vary and aesthetic preferences are culturally conditioned, an appreciation of natural and constructed beauty is fundamental to human meaning-making, creativity, and innovation (Hillman 1998). Beauty is thus an instrumental tool that may support ageing well. We investigated the question of what aesthetics/beauty meant to older adults in England, how they experienced it, and whether experiencing beauty sustained them. Three focus groups were conducted with community dwelling participants aged between 60 and 93 (median age 75) for a total N of 14. Five themes emerged related to experience: an unexpected recognition; an evolving openness to experience; a universal perception available in micro and macro environments; a force that can alleviate depression; and a relational quality of some interactions. The value of beauty was identified through all groups: participants found it difficult to imagine a world with no beauty in it. They wondered if age made discernment capacity greater. Appreciation of beauty in unexpected places like a cracked pot led participants to identify happiness and wellbeing as outcomes of perception. This study suggests that beauty is essential for wellbeing and human flourishing and can emerge in unlikely ways. Implications are that professionals should assist older people to consider the role of beauty in life and develop interventions to consciously keep beauty awakened in normal and aesthetically-deprived environments.

In this article the authors consider the phenomenon of creativity as an integrative personal quality of a music teacher, characterizing him from the standpoint of internal freedom, harmony, well-developed creative imagination, readiness to make choices in non-standard situations, independence of own opinion, ability to independently lead productive activity and focus on its result – creation of an original creative product. The obtained qualitatively unique result should be distinguished by novelty, which is the main sign or indicator of creative activity in general. Consequently, in order to develop the creativity of an individual in the process of organizing educational activities, it becomes necessary to use creative teaching methods. The process of developing creativity in course of increasing vocal experience consists of purposeful interaction of musical art, co-creation of a teacher together with a student in adequate conditions with the use of effective methods of problem-based learning and choosing situations for realizing the creative potential of a student.
