ABSTRACTThe subject is approached from the line of research of Teaching Innovation by the members of the research group: "Educational Innovation in Teaching and Learning Processes", of The Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, which academic model contributes to the comprehensive education of students, resulting in the improvement of the quality of their education process and the strengthening of their abilities for their own benefit. The results show the students’ lack of information over the academic advice and the role of the advisor in the academic life of the university students. The research instrument used to measure the information were two semi-structured questionnaires applied to university students at different times from November 2012 to June 2013. Contacto principal: [email protected]

The idea, proposed in this work, is that who are introducing educational innovation in University teaching should focus more on the renewal of a curriculum more than in a single course's changes. University teaching innovation  often focuses on the changes introduced within a single discipline through the adoption of some educational technologies or new teaching-learning-evaluation methods,  keeping the focus only on the single discipline and not on the curriculum as a whole. With reference to the work of  Ronald Harden about the eight roles of the university teacher, we underline  the role of  Curriculum developer and implementer. Six models are proposed to classify the introduction of innovative curricula. The different ways by which Problem Based Learning was introduced in university curricula are described  as  examples of the six models.

Future public administration practitioners need more advanced teaching tools as well as to improve the quality of teaching and learning methods figuring out predictable or unpredictable challenges. Social media have become commonplace and operate on a free service model; thus, it can be used in education to improve the interactivity of students and instructors such as online collaborative work, peer-to-peer instruction, and supporting participation. But it is commercially driven, and education isn't the main target. Thus, there are some serious issues of data privacy, confidence, and security. The instructors' attitudes are also important for using social media. ABSTRACTIt is considered paramount concern depriving, in this globalized world to rethink the axiological models that determine the attitudes of those involved in education, with the aim to reposition the role of teachers in personal, professional and public life learner. In the formative process of teaching and learning, the teacher transmits to his students: values, attitudes and knowledge. If we assume that teaching is to encourage students to reflect to make judgments critically and develop skills in the pursuit of knowledge and reinforce attitudes are looking for the education of students as a result of acting trained teachers and committed ethics and / or securities training, which means establishing scales, deciding on priorities, learn to value their own decisions and not others to choose.RESUMENSe considera de suma importancia la preocupación que priva, en este mundo globalizado de replantear los es-quemas axiológicos que determinan las actitudes de los actores involucrados en la educación, teniendo como propósito el reposicionamiento de la función del docente en la vida personal, profesional y pública del educando. Contacto principal: [email protected]

(1) Background: Academic engagement has been reported in the literature as an important factor in the academic achievement of university students. Other factors such as emotional intelligence (EI) and resilience have also been related to students’ performance and quality of life. The present study has two clearly delimited and interrelated objectives. First, to study the mediational role that engagement plays in the relationship between EI and resilience on quality of life. Secondly, and similarly, to study the mediational role of engagement in the relationship between EI and resilience, but in this case on academic achievement. (2) Methods: For this purpose, four scales frequently used in the literature to measure emotional intelligence, resilience, academic engagement and quality of life were administered to 427 students of the University of Jaén undertaking education degrees. In addition, students were asked to indicate their current average mark as a measure of academic performance. Two mediational models based on structural equations were proposed to analyse the relationships between the proposed variables. (3) Results: The results obtained showed that emotional intelligence and resilience directly predicted students’ life satisfaction, but this direct relationship did not result in academic performance. In addition, and assuming a finding not found so far, engagement was shown to exert an indirect mediational role for both life satisfaction and academic performance of students. (4) Conclusions: The findings of the study support the importance of engagement in the design and development of instructional processes, as well as in the implementation of any initiative.

Over the past several decades large philanthropies have adopted aggressive approaches to education reform that scholars have labeled venture philanthropy. These efforts focused on broad changes to schooling and education policy, borrowing techniques from the venture capital world. But many foundations have recently become convinced that market forces and macro-level policymaking alone cannot drive educational improvement, particularly in areas related to classroom teaching and learning. In response, foundations have begun to design their own instructional innovations and identify providers to implement them. This paper interprets these recent efforts as early evidence of a distinct adaptation in the evolving role of philanthropies, which we dub design philanthropy. Although this approach represents an attempt by foundations to simultaneously increase democratic engagement, directly influence the instructional core, and spur educational innovation, it poses new risks for coherence, scalability, and sustainability in education policymaking.
