Background: The formation of mechanisms for sustainable development of the transport system of Russia should be aimed at improving its competitiveness. Aim: Development of technical and economic foundations for improving the efficiency of the transport system of Russia, on the example of railway transport. Methods: Theoretical methods of scientific research were used to achieve the goal: analysis, synthesis and modeling. Results: The original concept of "Coincidental freight transportation" with the necessity of technical modernization of freight cars is offered. The concepts of a coincidental route and a coincidental wagon are analyzed, and application of the mathematical apparatus for economic evaluation of the results is recommended.

Multiple-Criteria Analysis and Choice of Transportation Alternatives in Multimodal Freight Transport System In the paper the multimodal freight transportation system with a finite number of known alternatives, defined by the routes and modes, is considered. The objective of research is to suggest the approach for evaluation and choice the alternatives of cargo transportation. The following main tasks are considered: choice of indices characterizing efficiency of multimodal transportations, formation of optimization criteria of the multimodal freight transportation, construction of the model of the multimodal transportation system, calculation the performance criteria of cargo transportation. The study presents the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as the most suitable approach for comparative evaluation of different routes and modes of cargo transportation.

Abstract The article analyzes the dynamics and structure of freight transport in Ukraine. It is established that container transportation in Ukraine occupies a small share in the total volume of cargo transportation compared to EU countries. In order to optimize the realization of trade, economic and transit potential of the country, multimodal schemes of cargo transportation are considered. One of the key issues in ensuring the sustainable development of the country’s transport system is to reduce emissions of CO2 and other pollutants. To achieve a set of environmental goals in Ukraine, it is necessary to intensify the formation of a sustainable transport system based on the development of multimodal container transportation with the involvement of “clean” modes of transport, primarily rail. Conceptual requirements for the formation of an environmentally sustainable system of multimodal container transportation in Ukraine are determined. Based on the calculations of the scenario, it was proved that the development of container rail transportation allows to obtain environmental and economic effects as a result of reducing CO2 emissions.

Background: Nowadays, the transport industry faces unconventional challenges such as the need to modify the transport service and reduce dependence on resource leverage. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the decline in business activity associated with the pandemic crisis and, as a result, the drop in demand and prices for hydrocarbon fuel in the medium term until the end of the crisis. Also, the implementation of a forward-looking transport policy has a close relationship with the economic category of time, since the value of time, converted into speed, shifts the emphasis of value from the initial price of the purchased transport service to the total cost of owning it. The railway transport system of the Russian Federation, as one of the leaders of the world transport system, has every opportunity to actively participate in global restructuring in response to the global climate and environmental crises. Aim: Determination of the relationship between the adoption of a sustainable development policy and the effectiveness of the implementation of projects for the development of backbone infrastructure in Russia. We confirm that the activities of transport companies within the framework of the established sustainable development goals (hereinafter referred to as ESG Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) contributes to the improvement of their operational activity. Methods: The research methodology is based on the analysis of international approaches and assessment criteria for ESG factors using analytical procedures to identify cause-and-effect relationships of the strategy for the development of railway transport in the Russian Federation within the framework of ESG. The information base of the study is based on an analysis of reports from international organizations and data from JSC Russian Railways in terms of funding, expected prospects and effects. Results: as a result of the study, the conditions for the transformation of the sustainable development of railway transport systems in the world and in the Russian Federation were determined against the background of changes in the geography and structure of commodity markets, favorable prospects were established from the direct participation of business in the implementation and implementation of the goals and objectives of sustainable development. Conclusion: on the basis of the study, an assessment was made of the benchmarks of JSC Russian Railways in the sustainable development strategy. In order to implement environmental infrastructure projects, the parameters of the compliance of the strategy for the development of railway transport in Russia with the goals of sustainable growth have been established.

Abstract The article proposes a method for determining the rational motion intensity of specific train traffic flows on railway transport corridors with account for balance of expenses on traction resources and cargo owners. A mathematical model based on stochastic optimization is developed, which allows to optimize, in the conditions of risks, the interval between trailing trains on the railway lines taking into account the limited resources of the traction rolling stock, the capacity of the stations and freight fronts at the cargo destination point. Solving this mathematical model allows to find a balance between the expenses for movement of train traffic flows from different railway lines to their terminal reference station and the expenses of a consignee, subject to the limitations of the technological logistics chain in cargo transportation. For the solution of this mathematical model, a Real-coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA) was used.

The article deals with topical issues of development of the market of tank-container freight transportation in Russia. The study presents data on the use of tank-containers on various modes of transport, which allow high-quality and reliable transportation of goods in comparison with traditional tanks. The technological features of the design of tank-containers, their overall dimensions, weight and capacity are considered. Statistical information reflecting the dynamics of the chemical cargo transportation market in containers and tanks has been analyzed. The risks and threats that can lead to an environmental disaster due to the problems of updating the fleet of containers have been studied. The directions of development of smart logistics are given.

Previous studies have highlighted inequalities and gender differences in the transport system. Some factors or fairness characteristics (FCs) strongly influence gender fairness in the transport system. The difference with previous studies, which focus on general concepts, is the incorporation of level 3 FCs, which are more detailed aspects or measures that can be implemented by companies or infrastructure managers and operators in order to increase fairness and inclusion in each use case. The aim of this paper is to find computational solutions, Bayesian networks, and analytic hierarchy processes capable of hierarchizing level 3 FCs and to predict by simulation their values in the case of applying some improvements. This methodology was applied to data from women in four use cases: railway transport, autonomous vehicles, bicycle sharing stations, and transport employment. The results showed that fairer railway transport requires increased personal space, hospitality rooms, help points, and helpline numbers. For autonomous vehicles, the perception of safety, security, and sustainability should be increased. The priorities for bicycle sharing stations are safer cycling paths avoiding hilly terrains and introducing electric bicycles, child seats, or trailers to carry cargo. In transport employment, the priorities are fair recruitment and promotion processes and the development of family-friendly policies.
