The main objective of this study was to investigate the association between final-year students’ anxiety level and quality of life (QOL) with their academic achievements. A longitudinal study was performed in regular schools and in high-rated gymnasiums at the beginning and at the end of the school year. Multiple linear regression models were built for the association between level of anxiety/QOL with academic achievements. Type of school and gender—but not the level of anxiety—were the main predictors of academic achievements of 287 adolescents (e.g., for mathematics, the effect estimates were: β = −1.71 [95% confidence interval −2.21; −1.21]; β = −0.50 [−0.95; −0.06], β = 0.09 [−0.02; 0.20] for the type of school, gender, and changes in level of anxiety, respectively). To conclude, particular efforts should be made to reduce the level of anxiety in girls, especially those that study in high-rated schools.

The present study attempts to examine the home environment of adolescents studying in eighth class in relation to some selected variables. The study is quantitative in nature. Sample of the study consists of 200 adolescents of eighth class (100 males and 100 females) randomly selected from 5 government and 5 private schools of Jammu. Home Environment Inventory (HEI) developed by Misra (1989) has been used for collection of data. Results show that adolescents from rural residential background have perceived their home environment as better in comparison to adolescents from urban residential background. However, there were no significant gender and type of school differences in the perceived home environment of adolescents studying in eighth class. The combined effect of gender and type of school on perceived home environment was found to be significant in favour of female students studying in government schools in comparison to private schools. Significant combined effect was obtained among gender, residential background and school type on perceived home environment of adolescents.

At the end of 2020, the Quark editorial office launched on its Facebook page an interesting competition called "Photo Puzzle". The basic premise is that the editors of the journal publish an original picture related in some way to science and technology, with an enclosed question. However, the image itself usually does not provide enough information to identify the correct answer. Instead, it provides an opportunity to creatively think about possible solutions in the absence of perfect information. In this sense, the questions differ from the typical school problems, which require accurate formulation and have clear answers. Since in everyday life we rarely encounter this type of „school“ questions, this activity by Quark staff should be appreciated.

This article explores which antecedents explain intentions to adopt a mobile coaching app. To that end, this study describes a coaching service designed to guide/encourage students throughout their studies in order to validate a new model of planned behavior based on the Technology Acceptance Model and the Goal-Directed Behavioral theory. The methodology included a short qualitative study and an online survey to examine the theoretical model which is based on scales tested in previous studies. The convenience sample is composed of students (Bachelor and Master/MBA) with the results analyzed using structural equation modelling to test the proposed model's causal structure. The results show different adoption patterns by gender and type of school.

Abstract Executive functions (EFs) are considered a multiple system of processing, associated with different components, such as inhibition, working memory, planning, among others. The study of EFs requires the assessment of all its components, having in mind the socio-demographic and cognitive characteristics of the target population. Nowadays, analysis of variance is used to achieve this goal; nevertheless, HJ-Biplot analysis overcome its limitations by allowing simultaneous examination of multiple data, such as those generated in EFs studies. This study evaluates possible differences in the EFs of 80 8-year-old Colombian children by their sex, socio-economic status and type of school they attend, to exemplify the advantages of using HJ-Biplot analysis in neuropsychological studies.

Executive Function (EF) is a higher cognitive process responsible for control and self-regulation of behavior. The aim of this study is to describe the developmental trajectory of EF in four and six-year old Colombian children, and to highlight possible differences by socio-cultural variables such as age, sex, type of school or socio-economic status. One hundred and sixty-three normotypical children were tested using psychological tests validated for a Spanish population belonging to the Weschler and Luria Initial batteries. HJ-biplot analysis showed that EF developed commensurate with age and school grade, although differences by socio-economic status and type of school were evident.
