Facebook was founded as a way to enhance face-to-face contact on university campuses, and so its virtual and physical life are unique on the internet. The performance of self online versus the performance of self “on ground” constitutes a particular dynamic. Members of the Facebook community use it to build and enhance their “real” relationships through their unique performances of online self, and these fluid performances, which may look like exhibitionism, are energetic engagements with the panoptic gaze: as people offer themselves up for surveillance, they also resist being fixed as rigid, unchanging subjects.

Then the results of quantitative research (CAWI), which concerned the willingness to get involved and forms of participation of young consumers from France and Poland in consumer boycotts, are presented. The analysis of the results showed that French students declare greater willingness to participate in boycotts than Polish ones. The main reason for participation for the French is that the boycott concerns an important issue, and for the Poles, that it concerns them personally. No significant differences have been shown as regards the preferred forms of participation in boycotts.

This paper review to focus the relationship between Generation Y students and Malaysian cultural factors within the context of e-learning application. E-learning is defined as the use of electronic media in learning. Meanwhile, Generation Y is defined by the internet and are a connected global generation. The results of these studies on Generation Y culture may differ from those obtained from research focusing on Generation Y and cultural nuances separately. Hofstede's multicultural model is used in this study to better understand the unique cultural nuances of Malaysian Generation Y students. Every dimension of Hofstede's cultural model has been adapted to the context of e-learning in Malaysia. This review also explores whether both Generation Y and culture influence the student usage of e-learning education. This model can be utilized as a guide for e-learning developers to create an appropriate pedagogy for Generation Y students in higher educational institutes in Malaysia.

Celebrities always seem larger than life; it is when they die that we remember they are only human. With the emergence of the Internet and social networking sites, consumers are able to follow the daily activities of their favorite celebrities. After a celebrity’s death, consumers exhibit a stronger interest in the lives of these celebrities and demand for celebrity-related products increases sharply. The aim of the present study is to examine young consumers’ responses to celebrity deaths and explore the major factors that lead to increased demand for celebrity memorabilia and merchandise. Specifically, this research will attempt to present why young consumers exhibit such a sudden and strong interest in celebrity-related products after their death and why these products are cherished so greatly. Factor analysis is applied and the results indicate that a celebrity’s death increases young consumers’ demand for memorabilia due to five major factors. These factors include immortality of the celebrity, keepsake value & deep-felt love as well as uniqueness of the celebrity, prestige and financial value attached with the product and wide availability & increased media promotion. Based on these factors, it can be argued that consumption of celebrity merchandise is motivated by the attachment and significance of the celebrity to the young consumer before death. These results are important for marketers to grasp the effect of death on the consumption of celebrity merchandise. Online and traditional retailers need to understand the major factors attracting consumers to celebrity memorabilia and merchandise so that they can respond quickly and efficiently to sudden demand fluctuations.

Abstract The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of perceived value dimensions (i.e., economic value, hedonic value, symbolic value, and social value) on behavioral intent to engage in collaborative consumption from the perspective of Generation Y. Furthermore, this research aims to investigate the mediating effect of young consumers’ attitude toward collaborative consumption on the relationship between perceived value dimensions and behavioral intent to engage in collaborative consumption. Research findings suggest that specific dimensions of perceived value (economic, hedonic, symbolic, and social) have different direct effects on young consumers’ behavioral intention to engage in collaborative consumption services. Regarding the mediating role of consumers’ attitude toward collaborative consumption, it was found that the mediating effect takes place only in the symbolic value-behavioral response link. Given the paucity of research focusing specifically on collaborative consumption from the perspective of Generation Y, this study provides new and useful insights for researchers and managers.
