With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, all walks of life a are paying more and more attention to the carbon dioxide emissions brought by their own industries. For the container terminal, a large proportion of carbon emissions come from the fuel consumption of vessels. In this paper, the consideration of carbon emissions is added to the original berth quay crane joint scheduling problem, and the constraints such as vessel preference for berths and quay crane interference are added. A dual-objective nonlinear mixed integer programming model is established to minimize carbon emissions and minimize costs. The model is solved by the Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm with Elite Strategy, and the optimal scheduling scheme is obtained. Finally, the calculation examples are verified to prove the effectiveness and practicability of the model and algorithm.

The customized products such as electromechanical prototype products are a type of product with research and trial manufacturing characteristics. The BOM structures and processing parameters of the products vary greatly, making it difficult for a single shop to meet such a wide range of processing parameters. For the dynamic and fuzzy manufacturing characteristics of the products, not only the coordinated transport time of multiple shops but also the fact that the product has a designated output shop should be considered. In order to solve such Multi-shop Integrated Scheduling Problem with Fixed Output Constraint (MISP-FOC), a constraint programming model is developed to minimize the total tardiness, and then a Multi-shop Integrated Scheduling Algorithm (MISA) based on EGA (Enhanced Genetic Algorithm) and B&B (Branch and Bound) is proposed. MISA is a hybrid optimization method and consists of four parts. Firstly, to deal with the dynamic and fuzzy manufacturing characteristics, the dynamic production process is transformed into a series of time-continuous static scheduling problem according to the proposed dynamic rescheduling mechanism. Secondly, the pre-scheduling scheme is generated by the EGA at each event moment. Thirdly, the jobs in the pre-scheduling scheme are divided into three parts, namely, dispatched jobs, jobs to be dispatched, and jobs available for rescheduling, and at last, the B&B method is used to optimize the jobs available for rescheduling by utilizing the period when the dispatched jobs are in execution. Google OR-Tools is used to verify the proposed constraint programming model, and the experiment results show that the proposed algorithm is effective and feasible.

The integrated allocation and scheduling of handling resources are crucial problems in the railway container terminal (RCT). We investigate the integrated optimization problem for handling resources of the crane area, dual-gantry crane (GC), and internal trucks (ITs). A creative handling scheme is proposed to reduce the long-distance, full-loaded movement of GCs by making use of the advantages of ITs. Based on this scheme, we propose a flexible crossing crane area to balance the workload of dual-GC. Decomposing the integrated problem into four sub-problems, a multi-objective mixed-integer programming model (MIP) is developed. By analyzing the characteristic of the integrated problem, a three-layer hybrid heuristic algorithm (TLHHA) incorporating heuristic rule (HR), elite co-evolution genetic algorithm (ECEGA), greedy rule (GR), and simulated annealing (SA) is designed for solving the problem. Numerical experiments were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm has excellent searching ability, and the simultaneous optimization scheme could ensure the requirements for efficiency, effectiveness, and energy-saving, as well as the balance rate of dual-GC.

The international community is increasingly concerned about saving energy and less carbon dioxide emissions. But with growing air passenger and cargo traffic, the airspace tension highlights would inevitably lead to the increase in carbon emissions. However, there is little research on the methods of reducing carbon emission in airspace optimization. So this paper does some research in this field. Firstly this paper provides and exemplifies the method for decreasing the carbon emissions in airspace optimization. Secondly it puts forward the BPR function model to estimating the amount of carbon emissions of the method of increasing the number of air routes and uses the Regression analysis to confirm the parameters αβ. At last utilizing the specific data testifies the huge contribution of reducing the amount of carbon emissions from airspace optimization.

PurposeThis paper presents a mixed-integer programming model for a single machine earliness/tardiness scheduling problem where the objective is to minimize total earliness/tardiness duration when the uncertainty of parameters such as processing times and due date is coded with grey numbers.Design/methodology/approachGrey theory and grey numbers are used for illustrating the uncertainty of parameters in processing times and common due date, where the objective is to minimize the total earliness/tardiness duration. The paper proposes a 0–1 mathematical model for the problem and an effective heuristic method for the problem by using expected processing times for ordering jobs.FindingsThe uncertainty of the processing times and common due date are encoded with grey numbers and a position-dependent mixed-integer mathematical programming model is proposed for the problem in order to minimize total grey earliness/tardiness duration of jobs having grey processing times and a common due date. By using expected processing times for ranking grey processing times, V-shaped property of the problem and an efficient heuristic method for the problem are proposed. Solutions obtained from the heuristic method show that the heuristic is effective. The experimental study also reveals that while differences between upper and lower bounds of grey processing times decrease, the proposed heuristic's performance decreases.Originality/valueThe grey theory and grey numbers have been rarely used as machine scheduling problems. Therefore, this study provides an important contribution to the literature.

Abstract In the paper, we present a coordinated production planning and scheduling problem for three major shops in a typical alloy casting foundry, i.e. a melting shop, molding shop with automatic line and a core shop. The castings, prepared from different metal, have different weight and different number of cores. Although core preparation does not required as strict coordination with molding plan as metal preparation in furnaces, some cores may have limited shelf life, depending on the material used, or at least it is usually not the best organizational practice to prepare them long in advance. Core shop have limited capacity, so the cores for castings that require multiple cores should be prepared earlier. We present a mixed integer programming model for the coordinated production planning and scheduling problem of the shops. Then we propose a simple Lagrangian relaxation heuristic and evolutionary based heuristic to solve the coordinated problem. The applicability of the proposed solution in industrial practice is verified on large instances of the problem with the data simulating actual production parameters in one of the medium size foundry.

The study on the relationship between investment in environmental governance, carbon emission and economic growth is helpful for the relevant government departments to coordinate the influence among them when formulating the policies of reducing emission and conserving energy, so as to take the comparative advantages of various factors and promote the benign interaction between economic development and environmental governance. In this paper, the data of Per capita GDP, per capita investment in environmental governance and per capita CARBON dioxide emissions in China from 2000 to 2019 are selected as the research basis, and variables are studied by means of Granger causality and impulse response function. As shown in the results, there is a single Granger relationship between investment in environmental governance and carbon emissions, that is, the increase of investment in environmental governance leads to the reduction of carbon emissions. The influence of economic growth on environmental governance investment is small, but in the long term, it can restrain the growth of carbon emissions. Investment in environmental governance can promote economic growth and stimulate a reduction in the emissions in the short term; Economic growth was hindered by the emissions in the long term and fail to stimulate increased investment in environmental governance. Based on these findings, this paper proposes policy Suggestions for optimizing the structure of environmental governance investment, improving the carbon emission monitoring and response mechanism, and strengthening the technological level of energy conservation and emission reduction.
