Integration of environment into economic sectors and promotion of sustainable development

<div><p><em>This paper analysed the status of energy intensity of economic sectors (agriculture, industry, commercial, residential) in MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey) countries and its implications for sustainable development. We utilised descriptive statistics as well as the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) decomposition analysis to examine energy and efficiency trends, from 1980-2013, in MINT countries. Empirical results indicate inefficient energy use in the residential and industrial sectors of Nigeria and Indonesia. The analysis  also indicates that income/output growth (activity effect) contributed to an increase in sectoral energy consumption of MINT countries. It also revealed that while structural effects contributed to a reduction in energy consumption in virtually all the sectors in Turkey and Mexico, it contributed to an increase in energy consumption of the residential, industrial and commercial sectors of Indonesia and Nigeria in virtually all the periods. These results suggest that a policy framework that emphasizes the utilization of energy efficient technologies especially electricity infrastructural development aimed at energy service availability, accessibility and affordability will help to trigger desirable economic development and ensure rapid sustainable development of MINT economies.</em></p></div>

Abstract The international community has committed to achieve 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and to enhance climate action under the Paris Agreement. Yet achievement of the SDGs is already threatened by climate-change impacts. Here we show that further adaptation this decade is urgently required to safeguard 68% of SDG targets against acute and chronic threats from climate change. We analyse how the relationship between SDG targets and climate-change impacts is mediated by ecosystems and socio-economic sectors, which provides a framework for targeting adaptation. Adaptation of wetlands, rivers, cropland, construction, water, electricity and housing in the most vulnerable countries should be a global priority to safeguard sustainable development by 2030. We have applied our systems framework at the national scale in Saint Lucia and Ghana, which is helping to align National Adaptation Plans with the SDGs, thus ensuring that adaptation is contributing to, rather than detracting from, sustainable development.

This chapter canvasses the roles and nature of bilateral or regional economic treaties, and their potential implications for sustainable development. It then moves to analyse, firstly, whether and how, in bilateral and regional economic treaty texts, States provide exceptions in trade and investment treaties to prevent economic rules from constraining the regulatory flexibility of the Parties for social and environmental purposes in the field of sustainable development. Second, it discusses how States establish prescriptions and permissions for cooperation to resolve environmental and social problems that could be exacerbated by the bilateral or regional economic treaty, strengthening domestic laws and supporting efforts to mitigate potential environmental and social impacts. Third, it considers whether and how States agree permissions and prescriptions to liberalize trade and investment in specific economic sectors that they agree will contribute to sustainable development, encouraging technologies and industries prioritized in other international treaties on sustainable development.

Nowadays, tourism is among the most important socio-economic sectors of the world economy, so the urgency of the problem under investigation is due to the need for sustainable development of tourism in Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to develop recommendations for the sustainable development of tourism in the world and in Ukraine, in particular, in the Carpathian region. To the leading methods of research problems of the article include the analysis of theoretical sources, analysis of statistical data, comparison. The article examined the essence of tourism, its categories, nature and factors of sustainable tourism development, studied the development trends of tourism in the world, analyzed the development of tourism in Ukraine and the Carpathian region, made the comparison of the indicators of tourism development in Ukraine and in other countries, identified problems of sustainable tourism development in Ukraine, ways of their decision are developed. The materials of the article have practical value for ensuring the sustainable development of tourism in Ukraine, in the Carpathian region or at the level of other regions of the country.

Over the past few decades the gradual increase in environmental pollution, poverty and the need for energy made it necessary to transform the existing model of the economy. At the end of the 20th century the concept of sustainable development was formed. It included some relevant goals, the achievement of which made it possible to solve major socio-economic problems. The “green economy” is a system of economic relations between the state, economic entities and households arising from the production, distribution, exchange and consumption of goods and pursued in accordance with the objective of achieving the goals of sustainable development. The transition to the “green” economy will help to overcome poverty, provide humanity with renewable energy and gradually stop environmental pollution. The change of the existing model of economy requires a transformation in all its industries (manufacturing, finance, energy, etc.) and at all levels (from supranational to individual). Transformation processes, which include technical retrofitting, technology change, require significant funding. The establishment of an effective financial security mechanism will allow to attract the necessary investments for the implementation of projects in the field of transformation of economic sectors. It should be noted that the process of transition to a new model of economy in the world is already underway and the efforts of the world community aimed at achieving the goals of sustainable development are manifested in the creation of the necessary legal framework in the form of UN conventions and activities of international financial organizations providing financing for the implementation of projects in this field. The transition to the green economy model opens a number of opportunities for Ukraine, such as gaining energy independence, overcoming poverty and improving the environment. The paper analyzes various approaches to defining the definition of "bioeconomy", clarifying its essence, spheres of influence (field of application), its technological basis (biotechnology). It was determined that the bioeconomy is closely related to the circular economy, the nature of the circular economy, its main differences from the linear economy and the economics of processing have been clarified. It also paid attention to bioeconomic strategies adopted in different countries, identified the main directions of development of bioeconomies of these countries, reviewed the European Union program documents on bioeconomic issues, as well as major funds, international associations, forums operating in the bioeconomic sphere and unite stakeholders. The total volume of bioeconomy in Europe is analyzed (the share of bioeconomy and its percentage in individual sectors of economy is broken down by the share of bioeconomic income for each of the considered sectors and the share of employment in the bioeconomy sector), the main tasks of bioeconomic growth in Europe are determined. The Sustainable Development Goals have been identified and their achievements are related to bioeconomy in one way or another. The bioeconomy development rating based on the Global Biotechnology and Innovation Index, based on performance indicators, intellectual property rights, intensity, enterprise support, education and training, research and development funding, and policy, and policy, Ukraine is ranked in this rating by each indicator. The main economic sectors in Ukraine that use biotechnology are identified. Ukraine's bioeconomic strategy has not yet been formulated, in view of this it has identified the main obstacles to the development of the bioeconomy in Ukraine and directions that need to be developed Key words: bioeconomics, biotechnology, circular economy, “biologization” of the economy, sustainable development.

The creation of entrepreneurs (entrepreneurs) is an alternative solution to various problems in society such as poverty and social inequality, increasing unemployment of productive age and depletion of energy supply reserves, all of which require creative and innovative actions. Technopreneur, one part of the development of entrepreneurship (entrepreneur) provides an overview of entrepreneurship by using technology-based innovation. With the technopreneurship development model, it can provide benefits or impacts, both economically, socially and environmentally. Technopreneurs can be interpreted as job creators who will actively encourage Indonesia to have a strong and competitive economic foundation. Inclusive economic growth and sustainable development need to continue to receive attention and support from various groups, namely the support of the government, the private sector, the community and of course support from academics in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
