The goal of this paper is to identify the features of visual activity and conceptual approaches to the process of depiction. The research was carried out through observation of students’ work at the Moscow Region State University (MRSU) on the creation of paintings within the traditions of realistic depiction. The article analyzes the tendencies typical for visual activity, as well as the main problems arising in the process of artistic work, gives examples from practice, suggests ways to overcome such problems and to master the algorithms of “analytical depiction”. Author’s revisions of the following concepts are introduced: “depiction” as a method of “analytical painting”, when the result of the work is the realization of the conceived, and “copying” as drawing without comparing the qualities of the depicted, when the result of the activity is random and is not the artistic image that was intended to be created. The results of the research contribute to the theory of teaching professional art creativity, and to the understanding of theoretical problems of art and arts education. The materials can be used in teaching practice.

This article discusses the meaning of the important to any culture concept of “success”. Etymology of the lexeme “success” in Russian and English languages and its lexical meaning according to most reputable Russian and English explanatory dictionaries are analyzed. Based on the conducted analysis, the authors outline the common meanings, such as achievement and implementation of the set goal, ability to achieve successful results, certain career achievements. The article provides the results of survey carried out by private Strayer University, USA, according to which success is the realization of personal potential, good relationships, happiness, aspirations and achievement of the set goals. In order to compare the attitude towards success in the Russian Federation and the United States, polling was conducted in the universities of Moscow Region (Academy of Social Management, Moscow Region State University), which revealed that 15% of respondents believe that success is good relationships and happiness. Despite the detected differences, the authors conclude that the concept of “success” has a broader meaning than just financial wealth, luck and power, and thus, support the researchers from Strayer University in amending the dictionary entry on the concept of “success” not only in English, but in Russian language as well.

This paper analyzes the geoecological situation in the north of the Moscow Region based on remote sensing methods. In the work, the methods of complex physiographic research, mathematical and statistical methods, methods of geoinformation mapping and spatial analysis were used. The decoding was carried out visually and using automatic methods. Due to the fact that strategically important objects, reserves, enterprises playing a large role in the life of Russia and the world are located in the north of the Moscow region, and nonmetallic minerals are being mined, the need to study the anthropogenic impact on geoecological conditions arises. The data obtained during the study of satellite images and various geographic materials were processed in the Quantum GIS platform. On their basis, landscape – indicative interpretation of the geoecological features of the territory was carried out, a map of the sounding of the north of the Moscow region was carried out, revealing the dynamics for 30 years. A method for interpreting the scores of anthropogenic transformation is proposed, on the basis of which the anthropogenic impact is estimated. The work was carried out under the scientific guidance of Candidate of Geo-Mineralogical Sciences O.V. Anisimova at the Department of Ecology and Earth Sciences of the State University “Dubna”.
