The interest in using robotic surgery especially for gynecology, gastroenterology, and urology is increasing every day as this technology is expected to be the first line of surgery in many medical fields in the near future. This attentiveness is due to the unique features of this method and its advantages over open surgery and laparoscopy technique. Knowing curiously about robotic surgery, its components, characteristics, advantages, and challenges is crucial to be prepared for such huge evolution and to be engaged in the advancement of this new technology.

Medical malpractice is costly and disruptive, and it is important to prevent. We conducted a study with the objective to look at medical malpractice in robotic surgery overall, to evaluate reasons for litigation, and to comment on possible strategies to avoid litigation with transoral robotic surgery. We used the Westlaw computerized database to identify all state and federal verdict summaries in medical malpractice cases. We found 17 cases alleging malpractice that involved the use of robotic surgery. In all, the plaintiffs in 6 cases (35%) contended that an open rather than a robotic approach should have been used, 5 (29%) alleged negligent credentialing, 4 (24%) alleged training deficiencies, 2 (12%) alleged manufacturing problems, and 1 (6%) charged that robotic surgery should have been performed instead of open surgery (1 case involved two of these allegations). In 11 cases (65%), plaintiffs charged that robotic surgery contributed to an undesirable outcome, and in 6 cases (35%) they raised concerns about informed consent. In all, only 5 of the 17 lawsuits (29%) resulted in plaintiff verdicts or settlements; damages ranged from $95,000 to $7.5 million. We believe the courts should not play a major role in establishing safety guidelines for the introduction of new technology such as robotic surgery. Instead, training and credentialing guidelines should be established by appropriate national associations and societies to assist hospitals in doing so.

Several recent studies have warned that there will be widespread water shortages in many regions of the USA in the near future largely because of high demand for water in the production of electricity. This study reviews studies addressing electricity generation and water availability and concludes that electricity production is not likely to lead to water shortages in most regions for several reasons. First, the alarmist studies erroneously rely on water withdrawals rather than water consumption to measure gaps between water demand and supply. Second, these studies fail to account for market dynamics, which will lead to improvements in greater water recycling and reuse as well as new resources on the supply side, and conservation and improved efficiency via new technology on the demand side. Electricity is increasingly generated by low water use technologies such as solar and wind. In addition, fossil-fired power plant technologies exist that greatly reduce water withdrawals and consumption. As water prices rise in the face of tighter supplies these technologies will become more attractive. Third, policies designed to overcome market failures related to pricing regulation, water rights, and government boundaries can reduce, if not eliminate, widespread electricity and water shortages.

Thailand is the biggest manufacturer of trucks and cars outside of Japan and China in Asia. Many had reported that "smart" technology especially that which leads towards driverless or autonomous vehicles will be the most important single development that will affect the automobile industry both domestically and globally.  Hence this research is therefore on the readiness of Thai car owners to adopt the new technology and the intention to purchase a smart car in the near future. Specifically, it is a case study on the influential factors affecting the intent to purchase a smart car by owners of a top Japanese brand in Bangkok. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 385 existing car owners of the Japanese brand under consideration in metropolitan areas of Bangkok and the data returned analyzed by multiple linear regression. The outcome of the research pointed towards ‘Self-identity” and ‘Emotional connection’ as the most influential factors towards the intent to purchase a smart car.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is considered as a modern concept that will revolutionize the near future. Its interest is to create an environment of combined intelligent devices and systems, communicating with each other through wireless networks. Urban logistics are an applicative field of this new technology, especially for smart parcels and vehicles. Actually, in the context of economy development, the competitiveness between companies and territories necessarily involves an improvement of logistics services. Although these gains offered by IoT, there are significant obstacles to counter. One of the important obstacles to consider is the security. In this paper, we will analyze the interaction between selfish smart vehicles/parcels and malicious smart vehicles/parcels, that was formulated as a game model. As a result, we have calculated the Nash equilibrium and the utilities for the both selfish smart vehicles/parcels and malicious smart vehicles/parcels, evaluated the parameters that can maximize the selfish smart vehicles/parcels’s utility when the smart parcels are transported by vehicles between different centers (shops, supermarket, etc) was planned and identify the potential malicious smart vehicles/parcels.

Just as laparoscopic surgery provided a giant leap in safety and recovery for patients over open surgery methods, robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) is doing the same to laparoscopic surgery. The first laparoscopic-RAS systems to be commercialized were the Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA, USA) da Vinci and the Computer Motion Zeus. These systems were similar in many aspects, which led to a patent dispute between the two companies. Before the dispute was settled in court, Intuitive Surgical bought Computer Motion, and thus owned critical patents for laparoscopic-RAS. Recently, the patents held by Intuitive Surgical have begun to expire, leading to many new laparoscopic-RAS systems being developed and entering the market. In this study, we review the newly commercialized and prototype laparoscopic-RAS systems. We compare the features of the imaging and display technology, surgeons console and patient cart of the reviewed RAS systems. We also briefly discuss the future directions of laparoscopic-RAS surgery. With new laparoscopic-RAS systems now commercially available we should see RAS being adopted more widely in surgical interventions and costs of procedures using RAS to decrease in the near future.

As the development of network the grid will be widely used. To choose a suitable authentication mechanism in a large grid is very important. Identity authentication is one of the important mechanisms that can achieve grid security. It is the first line in the grid applications. It is also a portal in the security system. In the light of the advantages and disadvantages of PKI and ID-PKI, this paper provides a new technology. Presently, PKI and ID-PKI authentication technology is a popular authentication technology. This technology uses the identity certification to reduce the overhead in the domain, and uses CA authentication between domains to guarantee the security of the system.
