Introduction: Smoking abstinence self-efficacy is a factor that plays a key role in preventing addiction or its revival tendency after quitting. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the early maladaptive schemas and smoking abstinence self-efficacy among the sophomore high school students in the city of Gorgan, Iran. Methods: This was a descriptive study and its population (n= 9955) included all second grade high school students in the city of Gorgan in the school year 2015-2016. The multi- stage cluster sampling method was used to select 369 participants. The required data were collected using the maladaptive schema questioners and the smoking abstinence self-efficacy questionnaire. Pearson correlation and Multi- variable regression methods were also used to analyze data. Results: The results of the current study indicated a significant, yet reverse relationship of the early maladaptive schemas with smoking abstinence self-efficacy. Furthermore, 51 percent change in self-efficacy variance is derived from the components of early maladaptive schemas. Among components of the early maladaptive schemas, components of the abandonment / alienation, the strongest predictor was students smoking abstinence self-efficacy. Conclusion: Early self- efficacy schemas are among the individual and psychological causes with especial importance in studies on smoking dependency and its consumption. Such early schemas lead to biases in an individual’s interpretation of the events. These biases are represented as distorted attitudes, false speculations, unrealistic aims and perspectives, and high- risk behaviors such as smoking.

Abstract The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between internal motivation and academic achievement among high school students. Using multi-stage cluster sampling 307 high school students were selected. Then internal motivation questionnaire administrated. To measure the academic achievement, their academic grade average was used. Using the Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression analysis, and Z test Collected data were analyzed. Results showed that there is positive and significant relationship between internal motivation and academic achievement. There is positive and significant relationship between interest, competence, effort, lack of stress, selection, value and academic achievement. Between components of the internal motivation, competence, lack of stress and value explained about 24 percent of student academic achievement variance. The relationship of internal motivation and academic achievement among male and female students is no different.

Preparing a positive attitude toward convergence is essential to help students grow into future generations with the ability to solve various complex problems. This research aims to examine high school students' attitude toward convergence and the relation to gender and track. Responses from 1,186 Indonesian students in tenth (10th) and eleventh (11th) grade were purposively collected. Students were administered twenty-three items of attitude toward convergence covering five constructs: knowledge, personal relevance, social relevance, interest, and self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using IRT-Rasch analyses, two-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and cluster analyses. The primary finding of this research presented that high school students’ attitude toward convergence on the construct of interest and self-efficacy is significantly related to gender and track. Female students show to be more interested in convergence than male students. However, female students have lower self-efficacy. Additionally, science track students tend to be more interested in convergence than humanities track and showing higher self-efficacy. After performing cluster analysis, students are divided into three particular groups according to their attitude toward convergence. Finally, customized learning is proposed to improve students’ attitude toward convergence. Keywords: attitude toward convergence, female, humanities track, male, science track.

In recent years, mobile phone is a necessary device in life, because it provides much easiness in education, work, business, etc. but extreme use of communication devices, especially among young people are related with mental health problems. So, the aim of this study was surveying of relationships between personality traits with Mobile dependency in high school students. The research method was correlation. The population were included all high school students that 220 students were selected by cluster sampling method. Research data were collected by McCare & Costa's NEO personality traits (Neuroticism, Openness to new experience, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness) and Jenaro's Mobile dependency inventory, and were analyzed by Pearson correlation formula. The results showed that there is positive and significant relationship between Neuroticism and openness to new experience with Mobile dependency, and positive and significant relationship between extroversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness with mobile dependency. Thus, it can be concluded that personality traits have main impact on mobile dependency.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between social desirability, self-efficacy, and responsibility and communication skills of high school students in Ahvaz city. The sample of this study has been consisted of 360 participants that have been selected by cluster sampling method. This research is a descriptive and correlational study. The tools that have been used in this research are: Social Desirability questionnaire of Crowne and Marlowe (1960), the responsibility questionnaire of Harrison (1999), general self-efficacy questionnaire of Scherer et al. (1982) and communication skills questionnaire of Harjy and Marshall (1986). The data has been analyzed by using the statistical methods of Pearson correlation and multiple regressions. The results have shown that there is a positive relationship between social desirability, self-efficacy, responsibility and communication skills of students. The results of multiple regression analysis have shown that social desirability and responsibility and self-efficacy are respectively the best predictors of communication skills.

Abstract: This study aims to describe the ability of mathematical problem solving, student self-efficacy and the relationship between problem-solving ability and self-efficacy of junior high school students in Social Arithmetic materials. This research is descriptive quantitative-qualitative research. Subjects in this study were grade VIII students in West Bandung regency with a sample of 36 students of class VIII-B in one school in West Bandung regency. Instruments used in this study (1) problem solving problem test in the form of a description of four questions with social arithmetic material; (2) self-efficacy questionnaire counted twenty questions. Based on the analysis of data obtained shows that the ability of problem solving junior high school students in one district of West Bandung based on existing indicators are categorized as low and students' self-efficacy in solving math problems in moderate, so there is no relationship between problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. This is supported by the result of pearson correlation analysis which shows more than 0.05 significance number is 0.991 which means there is no relationship between the two variables.
