<p>With the continuous deepening of education reform, the education department has put forward higher requirements for higher vocational education. Higher vocational colleges and universities can not only cultivate professional technical talents, but also cultivate applicable talents in many aspects. At present, the students come from different places with different education background in the colleges and universities. In the process of English teaching, teachers should implement stratified teaching to further improve the quality of English teaching. This paper discusses the problems and countermeasures of stratified teaching in higher vocational English, analyzes the problems existing , and proposes effective solutions.</p>

The pace of vocational education reform is constantly accelerating. In addition, effective reforms at the level of curriculum setting and teaching management, innovation, adjustment and optimization in the teaching of specific disciplines are also an inevitable requirement for reform. There are many innovative choices in public English teaching in higher vocational colleges relatively and modular teaching can also become a basic innovative teaching choice. However, it must also be seen that whether the module teaching is carried out or the active role of the module teaching is not simple with resulted in the impact of relevant difficult factors cannot be underestimated. In recent years, Chinese higher vocational education reform has made great achievements. However, physical education reform, as one part of the higher vocational education, lags far behind other curriculum reforms. Along with the rapid development of higher vocational education in our country, the number of higher vocational colleges has become larger than that of undergraduate colleges. But, quite a few higher vocational colleges are upgraded from secondary vocational schools. Although they still belong to the institutions of the higher learning, the educational ideas and positioning of them are totally different from those of undergraduate colleges. So the teaching reform of physical education must change based on the new situation of higher vocational physical education teaching environments. Through the analysis about the present situation of higher vocational colleges, the author puts forward the idea and thoughts of education reform as below.

English teaching in higher vocational education has always been one of the difficulties. Due to the weak learning foundation of students, insufficient learning ability, and some problems in teaching methods, the quality of higher vocational English teaching has never been effectively improved. <p>Since 1980s, higher vocational education has always been influenced by general higher education mode in teaching. The English teaching mode of higher vocational education also follows English teaching mode of ordinary higher education. According to students' actual situation of higher vocational colleges, English teaching mode suitable for students in higher vocational colleges has not been summarized. As a whole, vocational English teaching still adopts traditional "cramming education" teaching mode. Most English teachers use PPT to give a lecture, while students listen lectures passively, with little classroom interaction between teachers and students. It cannot carry out the teaching model that students act as main body and teachers act as the supplement. There are many students in higher vocational English class, and these students have different English levels. Most higher vocational students have weak English foundation and have not a correct learning method. Many students have less vocabulary accumulation, and their pronunciation is not standard, so they dare not communicate with others in English. Thus, higher vocational English teaching must change traditional teaching mode, change teachers' role in class, improve students' enthusiasm for learning English, and meet educational reforms that focus on cultivation of innovative spirit and practical ability.</p>
