The theory of gearing, and kinematics in particular, has a long history, in which the names of great mathematicians such as Euler, Huygens, Chebyshev are inscribed. This theory is described in detail in many works, yet insufficient attention is paid to the simply formulated, but difficult to solve problem of selecting equations of curves describing centroids in a flat gearing, in which motion is transmitted with a constant ratio of angular velocities. The existing methods for analyzing the flat gearing are based on the premise about the existence of a center of engagement, the point at which the velocities of the links are equal, and through which the common normal of the centroid passes, that is, on the Willis theorem. This work is based on the assertion that the projections of the velocities of the common point on the common normal are the same. The paper presents the derivation of equations that the equations of curves must satisfy in order to fulfil the condition of constancy of the angular velocities. In general, it is necessary that three unknown functions satisfy four constraints: both curves have a common point (two restrictions), the normals to the curves are parallel at this point, the projections of velocities of the common point on the normal are identical and determined by the angular velocities of the links. As an example, the most common forms of curves are considered: the involute, the epicycloid, and the hypocycloid. It is shown that for the involute all the constraints are satisfied, while the transmission of rotation with a constant gear ratio is impossible when using the epicycloid and the hypocycloid. A variant is considered where the form of only one curve is given, and the form of the second curve is calculated proceeding from the condition of constancy of the gear ratio. As an example, equations are derived where the hypocycloid and the straight line are chosen as the first curve.

The article provides a philosophical analysis of the tropological theory of the history of H. White. The researcher claims that history is a specific kind of literature, and the historical works is the connection of a certain set of research and narrative operations. The first type of operation answers the question of why the event happened this way and not the other. The second operation is the social description, the narrative of events, the intellectual act of organizing the actual material. According to H. White, this is where the set of ideas and preferences of the researcher begin to work, mainly of a literary and historical nature. Explanations are the main mechanism that becomes the common thread of the narrative. The are implemented through using plot (romantic, satire, comic and tragic) and trope systems – the main stylistic forms of text organization (metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, irony). The latter decisively influenced for result of the work historians. Historiographical style follows the tropological model, the selection of which is determined by the historian’s individual language practice. When the choice is made, the imagination is ready to create a narrative. Therefore, the historical understanding, according to H. White, can only be tropological. H. White proposes a new methodology for historical research. During the discourse, adequate speech is created to analyze historical phenomena, which the philosopher defines as prefigurative tropological movement. This is how history is revealed through the art of anthropology. Thus, H. White’s tropical history theory offers modern science f meaningful and metatheoretically significant. The structure of concepts on which the classification of historiographical styles can be based and the predictive function of philosophy regarding historical knowledge can be refined.

The results of the study of the duration of the juvenile period of indigenous Chechen willow leaf pear genotypes (Pyrus salicifolia Pall.) are given in connection with the acceleration of the breeding process and the use of selected forms in pear breeding for high precocity. The studies were carried out in 2016-2019 at OOO “Orchards of Chechnya” in accordance with the Agreement on creative cooperation with the Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crop Breeding. The work was carried out in accordance with generally accepted programs and methods. The objects of the study were one-year and two-year-old pear seedlings obtained from sowing seeds of selected dwarf and low-growing local Chechen forms of willow pear (P. salicifolia Pall.), laying fruit buds on annual growths and seedlings of Caucasian pear (P. caucasica Fed.), 20 500 pcs. of each specie. The aim of the research was to study the potential of precocity of willow pear seedlings and to reveal of selected forms with the greatest degree of this trait. Stratified seeds were sown in the sowing department of the OOO “Orchards of Chechnya” production nursery in April, 2017. The seedlings were grown according to the common technology in dryland conditions on the plot with chestnut soil. The first fl owering of plants was noted in the spring, 2019. As a result of the research, for the first time on a large number of the experimental material it was found that in the off spring of the indigenous Chechen willow leaf pear genotypes, the selection of a little more than 2% of seedlings with a very short juvenile period (2 years) was possible. They are of great interest in accelerating the breeding process and in the selection of new pear varieties with high precocity. 20 willow leaf pear genotypes were selected for the further use in breeding for high precocity and as sources of the trait of short juvenile period.

Tauopathies represent a vast family of neurodegenerative diseases, the most well-known of which is Alzheimer’s disease. The symptoms observed in patients include cognitive deficits and locomotor problems and can lead ultimately to dementia. The common point found in all these pathologies is the accumulation in neural and/or glial cells of abnormal forms of Tau protein, leading to its aggregation and neurofibrillary tangles. Zebrafish transgenic models have been generated with different overexpression strategies of human Tau protein. These transgenic lines have made it possible to highlight Tau interacting factors or factors which may limit the neurotoxicity induced by mutations and hyperphosphorylation of the Tau protein in neurons. Several studies have tested neuroprotective pharmacological approaches. On few-days-old larvae, modulation of various signaling or degradation pathways reversed the deleterious effects of Tau mutations, mainly hTauP301L and hTauA152T. Live imaging and live tracking techniques as well as behavioral follow-up enable the analysis of the wide range of Tau-related phenotypes from synaptic loss to cognitive functional consequences.

This article presents a method for designing a planar guide device that can guide sliders to move along a straight-curved rail and can eliminate the backlash between the slider and the rail throughout the whole range of the slider travel. The guide device has many sliders and each slider has three rollers that can separately roll on both sides of the rail. The straight-curved rail is composed of straight sections, connection sections, and circular-arc sections. For each slider, the three normal lines through the contact points between the rollers and the rail must always intersect at a common point, which is an instant center. Using this as a basis, the side profiles of the straight-curved rail can be determined. To avoid infinite jerk of the slider motion, the pitch curve of the connection section should consist of a transition curve, which is interposed between the straight line and the circular arc.

Abstract Use of mathematical optimization methods for synthesis of path-generating mechanisms has had only limited success due to the very complex nature of the commonly used Structural Error objective function. The complexity arises, in part, because the objective function represents not only the error in the shape of the coupler curve, but also the error in location, orientation and size of the curve. Furthermore, the common introduction of timing (or crank angle), done generally to facilitate selection of corresponding points on the curve for calculating structural error, has little practical value and unnecessarily limits possible solutions. This paper proposes a new objective function, based on Fourier Descriptors, which allows search for coupler curve of the desired shape without reference to location, orientation, or size. The proposed objective function compares overall shape properties of curves rather than making point-by-point comparison and therefore does not requires prescription of timing. Experimental evidence is provided to show that it is much easier to search the space of the proposed objective function compared to the structural error function.

The aim of the study is to determine the parameters characterizing the ripple of a motor's three- and five-phase windings common point potentials (for the star winding connection diagram) with respect to the converter zero point. One of the reserves for decreasing electromagnetically induced vibration of an electric motor with a rotating field is to increase the number of working winding phases. The study subject is a five-phase motor winding connected to a bridge converter, namely, its ability to reduce electromagnetically induced vibration in comparison with that in using a three-phase winding. The common point potential ripple parameters are studied, and an approach is proposed to estimating the amplitude modulation of the space-time voltage vector of three- and five-phase windings under the influence of the common point potential ripple with respect to the converter zero point. Theoretical studies were carried out using the Fourier series expansion method and vector analysis methods. To confirm the theoretical results, experimental studies of the prototypes of three-phase and five-phase synchronous motors with inductors made on the basis of permanent magnets were carried out. The main results have shown the following. With increasing the number of phases of the rotating field motor working winding connected to a bridge converter, the common point potential ripple amplitude with respect to the converter zero point decreases, and the ripple frequency increases. The product of ripple amplitude by frequency remains unchanged. It is assumed that the common point potential ripple of the motor multiphase winding with respect to the converter zero terminal results in the amplitude modulation of the space-time voltage vector. With increasing the number of winding phases, the modulation amplitude decreases, and the modulation frequency increases. A five-phase motor has a lower level of the working winding common point potential ripple with respect to the converter zero point in comparison with a three-phase motor. Thus, it can be assumed that there will be a lower level of electromagnetically induced vibration in using a simple converter operation algorithm. The obtained results can be used in designing electric traction systems with vector control on the basis of multiphase motors. With increasing the number of phases, the common point potential ripple amplitude in a multiphase winding with respect to the converter zero point decreases, and the ripple frequency increases. Thus, the common point potential ripple amplitude in a five-phase winding is 5/3 times less than that in a three-phase winding, and the ripple frequency increases by 5/3 times, respectively. With increasing the number of working winding phases, the amplitude modulation of the resulting space-time voltage vector decreases. This circumstance has a positive effect on decreasing the electromagnetically induced vibration.

The present paper addresses the issue of determining the best international practices for developing soft skills among students of different specialties through carrying out a theoretical review. Basing on literature on present-day theory the authors make an attempt to explain soft skills dichotomies, summarize existing approaches to classifying soft skills, consolidate and document best international practices for soft skills development among potential employees of different specialties including bachelor students, master students, doctoral and postdoctoral students. The data obtained in the theoretical analysis reveal that the possible ambiguities in the interpretation of the concept of “soft skills” are caused, on the one hand, by the dichotomic perception of their nature by present-day researchers and educators and, on the other hand, by the absence of the common language which makes it difficult to provide a more unified definition most satisfactory to all concerned. The authors are convinced that soft skills have a cross-cutting nature and regard them as personal and interpersonal meta-qualities and meta-abilities that are vital to any potential employee who is going to make positive contributions not only to his/her professional development but to the development of a company he/she is going to work for. The results of the conducted theoretical review clearly indicate that the absence of the unified understanding of the concept of “soft skills” is reflected in the existence of different approaches to classifying soft skills, let alone, the selection of didactic tools for developing soft skills among potential employees.
