Online exams have become a common tool in the academic didactic process, as well as in most online courses in business. Taking exams in a remote location like home, using ICT tools, brings many challenges to both sides, the learner and the examiner. The aim of this article is to show the challenges in the context of ethical attitudes, trust, and respect for one another. Some results of a broader survey in the form of Computer Aided Web Interviews are presented to highlight students’ opinions and expectations, along with the results of personal interviews with academic teachers. In the final part of the article, recommendations are given. The importance of trust and systematic assessment of learners’ progress is emphasized.

The management of teaching is connected and could be increased by using a wide range of different methods especially when we refer to Online and Blended learning. In the first part, the paper is aiming at reviewing the literature regarding the concepts and benefits of Online and Blended learning. Based on this considerations, 8 partner universities from 8 countries jointly developed the Project “Modern competences of academic teachers – the key to modern Higher Education Institutions (HEI)” – Acronym MOCAT. The paper underlines the goals and achievements of the MOCAT project that proposes a conceptual process to increase the management performance in teaching. The paper shows in an organized manner the main deficiencies that are altering the teaching competencies of academic teachers and in connection with this, the project offers solutions to improve the methodological competency of the teachers regarding the development and use of modern approaches. The outcomes of the project consist in the development and implementation of a Multicultural Model of an Academic Teacher Competencies and in 10 online courses that represent modern training materials in the field of teaching methodology. In the end are exposed the way the results of the project can be evaluated in time as well as the anticipated effects of the project implementation.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have proved their cost effectiveness in extending the reach of the traditional classroom education to thousands of learners across the globe. However, many questions have been raised regarding the educational effectiveness of these MOOC models. In particular, the lack of personalization, social interactions, and credibility have been cited as some of the most important factors that create uncertainties regarding the viability of the MOOC based educational models. In the last couple of decades, Web-based businesses including online retailers, electronic marketplaces and online portals have successfully integrated information and communication technology (ICT) led initiatives and evolved to become viable business models. The focus of this chapter is to analyze the challenges of the current MOOC based educational models and suggest how they can adopt ICT tools to transform into MOOC 2.0 - the next generation of MOOCs.

This article discusses the use of online or electronic e-training in ethical behavior and why this training is important to companies their stakeholders and to sustainable company growth. But what are the characteristics of an effective ethics training program? Four components are discussed. One only has to examine the news to learn of the latest unethical episode affecting leaders’ business and personal life. For example, in September 2004, the financial regulatory body of Japan announced the closure of Citigroup’s Private Banking business citing improper trading practices. Prior to this decision Citigroup admitted it erred in a bond deal in Europe which regulators got involved. The importance of ethics training can be seen in the number of ethics issues as they pertain to these examples of flawed reasoning and decision-making by company leaders and continuing today. Research has shown knowledge develops effective interventions that help to discourage unethical decisions (McMahon & Harvey, 2006). While it may be well known that colleges provide online courses, online corporate training for legal compliance is already being used by securities firms to deliver mandatory and highly regulated compliance information to registered representatives (Barnes & Blackwell, 2004).

The present study aimed to investigate the employment of computer-aided translation (CAT) tools among Iranian freelance translators. Fulford and Granell-Zafra (2005) proposed a model encompassing both information and communications technology (ICT) and CAT tools to support a large number of activities, including document production, information search and retrieval, communications, business management, marketing and work procurement, and translation creation. CAT tools are employed to support document production, business management, and translation creation; and ICT tools are used to support the rest. A questionnaire was used for data collection from Iranian freelancers. As the results indicated, Iranian freelance translators were more interested to employ general-purpose software applications, such as word processing programs and presentation software, whereas they showed less interest in the employment of special-purpose software, such as accounting packages and database software. Moreover, most participants approved the effectiveness of CAT tools in their work.

The article „Methodological competences of academic teachers” contains a justification for acquiring and improving the competences of an academic teacher. It can be a source of inspiration for self-improvement, both regarding theoretical knowledge and practical skills. At the beginning, the author introduces the problem and presents the diverse environment of Polish universities. The main purpose of the article is to present the teacher’s competence classification and to specify the elements of methodological competences, based on selected examples. The final part of the article are synthetic conclusions following analysis, comparisons, generalizations, and abstractions. The author is aware of the complexity of the problem. Therefore, he states that it is not possible to exhaust the topic, but only to signal key problems related to the research area.

Education and training play vital role in the utilization of the technology. Shared and coordinated knowledge that geospatial technology and GIS deliver provides a deeper understanding of our present and will also help to better understand our future development. But it is not enough to explain new technological developments during congresses or workshops; it is also necessary to promote these new ideas and to distribute the knowledge by applying new learning strategies.

This paper will review the status of computer aided teaching advances during the last decade, with a particular emphasis on photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geomatics. Some best practise examples will be presented featuring prominently recent Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) related to our fields. The consideration of mainly free online learning resources will include a commentary on quality and perceived effectiveness.
