The ubiquitous nature of mobile technologies and devices, present new challenges and opportunities for Deposit-Taking Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs) as they integrate them into their processes with the hope of improving their performance. To enhance their performance, Deposit-Taking SACCOs have adopted and are using mobile communication services including mobile messaging, mobile call services, mobile email, mobile chatting and mobile conferencing services. However, the effect of these mobile communication services on performance of Deposit-Taking SACCOs has not been well studied. Even though some studies have indicated the positive potential of mobile communication services, other studies indicate that they have no effect on organizational performance. Given these contradictions, this study sought to investigate the effect of mobile communication services on performance of Deposit-Taking SACCOs in Kenya. Descriptive and explanatory research designs were adopted using quantitative and qualitative approach to data collection, analysis and reporting. The study used a sample of 86 Deposit-Taking SACCOs drawn from a target population of 110 Deposit-Taking SACCOs that were licensed by SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority as at 31st December 2011. A structured questionnaire administered to two managers (from information technology and finance departments) in each SACCO was used to collect primary data. Inferential analysis revealed the exististence of statistically significant positive effect of mobile communication services on performance of Deposit-Taking SACCOs in Kenya. The study therefore recommends investments and increased utilization of mobile communication services within DepositTaking SACCOs in Kenya.

This paper attempts to examine the effects of knowledge management on organizational performance of Nepalese commercial banks. Data are collected through structured questionnaire from 300 respondent of Kathmandu valley. Descriptive and casual comparative research designs are used to achieve the objectives and descriptive statistics as well as multiple regression models have been used to analyze the data. It is observed that organizational performance will be better provided that appropriate knowledge management ensured. Knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, knowledge storing, information technology and organizational culture have positive effect on organizational performance.

The study sought to establish the effect of managerial autonomy on performance of project based non-governmental organizations in Kenya. Dynamic Capability theory guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive research design and positivism philosophy A total of 114 project based NGOs formed the study sample size. The study narrowed down the scope to those NGOs whose headquarters are in Nairobi due to the perceived heterogeneity of the same and the centrality of the location. The respondents included top, middle and lower cadre executives. The study employed the use of a structured questionnaire to collect primary data. A regression model was used to test the degree and respective significance of the association between the study variables. Managerial autonomy was conceptualized of political influence, security of tenure was found not to have a weak positive effect on organizational performance as measured by completion time, relevance/ suits purpose, sustainability and budget. The study concluded managerial autonomy will result to better organization performance.

This study examined the effect of organizational culture on performance of Benue Brewery in Makurdi. The population of this study is made up of 214 employees of Benue Brewery Limited Makurdi. Using the census approach, the population of 214 was adopted as the sample for the study. The data for the study was collected by the use of structured questionnaire while the hypotheses for the study were tested using regression analysis. The researcher found a positive effect of constructive organizational culture on profitability and market share. The result also shows a positive effect of passive organizational culture on both profitability and market share. Finally, the result also shows a positive effect of aggressive organizational culture on market share. The study concludes that the elements of organizational culture can affect the performance of an organization. It therefore recommended that management should promote constructive and passive organizational culture since these types of organizational culture have the highest influence on organizational performance.

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of strategic management practices on the performance of some commercial banks in Makurdi – Nigeria. The study utilized primary data obtained through structured questionnaire administered to 160 respondents sampled from seven commercial banks in the study area. The collected data from the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentages, correlation and regression analysis. The correlation results showed that strategic management practices are highly positively and significantly related to organizational performance. The regression result which explains about 99.9% variability in the model revealed that strategic management had positive and significant impact on the performance and profitability of commercial banks. The study recommended among other things that the management of the commercial banks should enhance the strategic management techniques in order to improve performance.

Purpose: The objectives of the study were to establish the To determine the effect of penetration pricing strategy on the profitability of insurance firms in Kenya.Methodology:The descriptive research design was preferred to other research designs because it reports the status of study variables. The population of study was the 45 insurance companies operating in Kenya as at 31st December 2012. Data was drawn from a period of five (5) years that is 2008-2012. The sample of this study was 10% of the sales workforce which comprised of 900 employees from the 45 insurance companies. The sample was generated by purposively sampling two employees from each insurance company.The researcher collected primary data with the help of a questionnaire. The primary data obtained from the questionnaires was summarized and analyzed by use of descriptive and inferential statistical techniques.Results:Regression and correlation results indicated that there was a statistically significant and positive relationship between penetration pricing strategies and profitability. These results implied that penetration pricing has a positive effect on the profitability of insurance companies.Policy recommendation: The study recommends that insurance companies put in place measures assess the most effective pricing strategy to reduce product costs and thus increase profitability whenever such a strategy is used.

Resilience is a vibrant process of adaptation which enables entrepreneurs to constantly direct a futuristic aspiration despite the volatile conditions of a market. The study examined entrepreneurial resilience on the performance of small and medium enterprises organization in Asaba, Delta State. The cross-sectional research survey research design method was employed. The study adopted the stratified random sampling technique. The sample size used was limited to 201 respondents. A structured questionnaire was the research instrument employed in the study. Descriptive statistics as well as multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the data collected. Findings showed overwhelmingly that resourcefulness, strategic diversity and pro-activeness has a substantial positive relationship with organizational performance. The study concluded that entrepreneurial resilience has a positive effect on organizational performance. The study result showed that resourcefulness has the highest affirmative effect on organizational performance. Thus, the study recommended that if enterprises understand the nature of the association amid the dimensions of entrepreneurial resilience, the failure rate of small and medium enterprises can be reduced.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of recognition and career advancement on employee job performance in Nigeria Brewery Plc in Imagbon, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. Survey research design was adopted for the study. The target population consists of 215 staff of Nigerian Brewery Plc. Imagbon, and sample size was 88. A Structured questionnaire was used as a research instrument in gathering the primary data used for the study. The data collected were analysed using mean, standard deviation and correlation analysis with the help of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS version 23). The results and findings indicated that employee recognition (r-0.759, p- 0.029) and career advancement (r-0.594, p- 0.012) have significant and positive effects on employee job performance in Nigerian Brewery Plc Imagbon, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. The research recommends that the management of Nigerian brewery Plc. should put a measure in place to ensure retention of younger employee that constitute the greater percentage of the brewery industry through adequate employee recognition programmes; and that management should be fully committed to employee flexible work schedule and provide an enabling environment for all and sundry within the organization.

Performance contracting is a strategic technique that uses feedback loops to meet desirable targets. Introduction of performance contracting by the government was seen as effective and hopeful method for improvement of the performance in public institutions and state agencies. Past Studies on Performance contracting, and Organization performance shows that there had never been a study on how Performance Contracting influences performance of County Referral Hospitals and there lay the research gap. The research main objective was to ascertain the effect of performance contracting results on organizations performance in Kapenguria County Referral Hospital. In a specific way, the study sought to find out how performance contract target setting influence performance of the Hospital. The target population was 291 employees of Kapenguria County Referral Hospital, the study used a stratified random sampling technique to get the sample size which was 184 employees. Descriptive research design was adopted by this study. The study utilized primary data mainly collected using structured questionnaires. The data collected was then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of SPSS. Tables were used to present the results of the study. The study found out that there was a positive and significant relationship between Target setting and Organization performance, this, therefore, implied that setting of targets in performance contracting influenced the organizational performance. results of ANOVA established that there was a significant mean because the coefficients were all less than 0.05. lastly, all independent variables had statistically significant association with the dependent variable at 95% level of confidence. The study, therefore, concludes that performance contracting greatly influence organization performance. Going by high affirmation of the respondents, Performance contracting enhances assertion of more effort by employees to their duties and tasks, motivates employees when rewarded or recognized based on the results of evaluation, enhances work accountability in the organization among others. this study recommends that there should be adequate consultation and involvement of employees in setting of targets, this will lead to high employees’ commitment to the set targets and in turn enhance achievement of the general organizational targets.

Police victimization is one of the growing cases in Kenya. There are reported cases of police being subjected to beatings and assault by citizens particularly in the low-income areas in Nairobi. Most of these reported cases have been traced to police actions, perceptions of community towards the police and even inadequate resources that the police use. These in turn affect the security situation. It is upon this backdrop that this study envisaged to scrutinize police victimization and security in Mathare North, Nairobi City County. The specific objectives of the research were; to examine the categories of police victimization and their implications on security in Mathare North, to analyze the causes of police victimization and their implications on security in Mathare North, and to evaluate the state of security in Mathare North and how it could be related to police victimization. The life style theory of victimization was used in the research. An exploratory research design based on primary data method was relied on in the study. In conducting this research, the target population was 321 police officers in Mathare North, Nairobi City County comprising of the 147 General Duty Police, 101 traffic police and 73 Administration Police. A sample size of 97police officers was selected from the target populace of Mathare North, Nairobi City County. Data collection was done through the use of questionnaires while the analysis employing descriptive and content analysis. The test for reliability showed that the variables used were reliable (Cronbach alpha was 0.759). The outcome from the study revealed that killings of the police was the main form of police victimization as shown by mean of 3.9829, followed by intimidation of police with mean of 3.7358 and assaults with mean of 3.6470. Sixty-three (63) respondents duly filled the questionnaires representing 64 percent of the total respondents. The findings revealed that the main causes of police victimization were proliferation of illegal firearms among civilians, lack of adherence to the justice system, corruption in the police, human rights violations and lack of public trust in the police. The findings revealed further that government support was necessary and influenced the relationship between police victimization and insecurity in Mathare North as shown by mean of 3.7437. The respondents agreed at mean of 3.7426 that police victimization negatively affect the security of Mathare North. A correlation test was also done and revealed that police killings, assaults on police and intimidation of police were significantly and positively correlated with insecurity based on their correlation coefficients of 0.476, 0.512 and 0.495 respectively. A regression analysis was also carried out and from the findings; police killings had a significant and positive effect on the insecurity of Mathare North with regression coefficient being 0.899 and p value of 0.006. Assault on the police had a significant and positive effect on insecurity of Mathare North as shown by regression coefficient of 1.020 and p value of 0.001. Intimidation of police had a positive and significant effect on the insecurity of Mathare North with a regression coefficient of 0.894 and p value of 0.004. The study recommends that the government should strengthen collaboration between the National Police Service and civilians in Mathare North to prevent cases of insecurity arising from police victimization. The study further recommends that the government must improve on its support in terms of equipment’s to the police in the area so that they can be able to defend themselves while maintaining the security in Mathare. Future studies should focus on other low-income settlements in Nairobi and major towns in Kenya.
