The community around Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) II Musi II Kelurahan Karya Jaya still relying on borehole water to fulfill their daily needs. The existence of TPA around these community environments can have a negative impact, including an indication of contamination of borehole water. One of the water pollution that is suspected to occur due to contamination of leachate from TPA is over chloride level in borehole water. The present work aimed at determining chloride level in borehole water in the area around Musi II TPA II Musi II Kelurahan Karya Jaya using Mohr argentometry titration method. The results showed chloride level in borehole water in the area around Musi II TPA II Musi II Kelurahan Karya Jaya is 301.75 mg/L. Based on PerMenKes RI No.492/MENKES/SK/VI/2010 and PerMenKes RI No.416/MENKES/ PER/IX/1990, the maximum level of chloride for drinking water is 250 mg/L, while for clean water is 600 mg/L, so that it can be concluded that borehole water in the area around Musi II TPA II Musi II Kelurahan Karya Jaya can’t be used for primary needs, for example drinking and cooking needs, but borehole water can still be used for secondary needs such as bathing and washing.

Groundwater is one of the main alternatives for people to get clean water easily, because the construction is relatively easy. Therefore residents around the landfill use ground water. Final Disposal Site (TPA) is a place where waste has reached the final stage in its management. Well water around the landfill will usually be polluted by various chemicals that are harmful to the body, one of which is organic matter. Organic substances are substances that contain a lot of carbon. Examples are benzene, chloroform, detergent, and pentachlorophenol. High levels of organic matter indicate that the water has been polluted. Therefore, the determination of the level of organic matter in the samples of borehole water so that the quality can be known quality. To determine the level of organic matter in the sample of community drill well water, quantitative analysis was carried out using the permanganometric titration method. The principle of the permanganometric titration method is that organic matter can be oxidized with KMnO4 in an acidic atmosphere by heating. The remaining KMnO4 is reduced with excess oxalic acid. The excess oxalic acid is titrated again with KMnO4. Based on the results of the analysis, the levels of organic matter contained in well water samples amounted to 586.8 mg / L. So it can be concluded that the sample of community drill well water is not suitable for drinking, because it does not meet the criteria of drinking water. The criteria for drinking water according to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.492 / MENKES / SK / VI / 2010 are not containing more than 10 mg / L of organic matter. This is because the amount of organic matter will result in increasing the population of microorganisms and can lead to the development of dangerous pathogenic bacteria in the human body, especially for the immune system.

Soil pollution with plastics represents a great threat to plants, animals, but especially to humans, as a very small quantity of the plastic which is discarded daily is recycled or incinerated in waste facilities, much of it reaching landfills where their decomposition lasts up to 1000 years and during this time the toxic substances penetrate the soil and the water. If, initially, the pollution with plastics has been identified and recognized in the aquatic environment, recent studies show that plastics residues exist in huge quantities in the soil. The present study focuses on the analysis of factors that pollute soil, so the various studies that have been carried out claim that soil pollution with plastic is much higher and increases in an aggressive manner, being estimated to be 4 to 23 times higher than water pollution with plastics, and the accumulation of microplastics in the soil has a negative impact on soil biota. Thus, once the plastic material accumulates in the soil, it is assimilated to organic matter and the mineral substitutes of the soil and persists for several hundred years.

A major problem in site remediation is frequently the lack of appropriate standards for pollutants in soil. Lack of standards for an exposure route can result in subjective judgments regarding the extent of remediation needed. These problems are particularly important when considering the potential for groundwater contamination by inorganic materials. The partitioning of trace metals is highly dependent on the nature of the soil and on the solution pH. The maximum level of metal in soil for which the equilibrium soluble metal does not exceed the drinking water standard can be computed, at any pH, from the measured partition coefficient for any metal and soil. The sorption of cadmium and lead onto major types of New Jersey soil has been determined as a function of pH. As the pH decreased, the amount of adsorbed metal decreased. As is conventionally done, we have transformed these data into sorption coefficients (Kd) which are a function of pH. To apply such data in the decision making process, it is necessary to use the Kd and appropriate conditions of soil/groundwater in the environment. The calculation determines the maximum concentration of metal which will not result in exceedence of water quality standards. Thesecriteria can be used as a soil standard which will be protective of groundwater quality. We developed adsorption/desorption relationships in the form of a mathematical model and computed the maximum level of metal in soil for which the equilibrium soluble metal will not exceed the drinking water standards.

Abstract Quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) data are required in order to have confidence in the results from analytical tests and the equipment used to produce those results. Some AOAC water methods include specific QA/QC procedures, frequencies, and acceptance criteria, but these are considered to be the minimum controls needed to perform a microbiological method successfully. Some regulatory programs, such as those at Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 40, Part 136.7 for chemistry methods, require additional QA/QC measures beyond those listed in the method, which can also apply to microbiological methods. Essential QA/QC measures include sterility checks, reagent specificity and sensitivity checks, assessment of each analyst's capabilities, analysis of blind check samples, and evaluation of the presence of laboratory contamination and instrument calibration and checks. The details of these procedures, their performance frequency, and expected results are set out in this report as they apply to microbiological methods. The specific regulatory requirements of CFR Title 40 Part 136.7 for the Clean Water Act, the laboratory certification requirements of CFR Title 40 Part 141 for the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the International Organization for Standardization 17025 accreditation requirements under The NELAC Institute are also discussed.

The rapid growth of the tourism industry in Indonesia has encouraged innovation in the sector as each business competes to attract domestic and foreign tourists. At the same time, however, this growth is having a negative impact of environmental damage such as water pollution and soil pollution, and also producing a perceived community loss. One option is to reduce the negative impact of tourism is by encouraging the development of ecotourism activities. For example, nearby communities could be encouraged to participate in the management of mangrove conservation ecotourism areas. This study considers how such communities can work with local governments on these projects. This complements traditional beliefs within the Indonesian culture which held that ancestors entrust natural wealth to their descendants to be guarded and utilized wisely. Aim. Study of the influence of drinking water quality on the ecologically-dependent morbidity of the population of the Republic of Dagestan.Material and Methods. Methods of current and retrospective analysis of regional health indicators and methods of mathematical-statistical and medical-geographical analysis were used. Statistical processing of the results was carried out using the STATISTICA and Excel software packages. When carrying out laboratory studies on the quality of drinking water, we used a Lumex atomic absorption spectrometer "MGA-915MD".Results. Numerous hygiene studies indicate the direct impact of unsatisfactory drinking water quality on the health of a population. The relationship between sanitary and chemical indicators and the incidence rate for a number of nosological forms has been proven. It is generally accepted that human health is influenced by lifestyle factors (working, living and relaxation conditions), heredity and the ecological condition of the area of residence, including the quality of drinking water. Although it is not possible to differentiate the share of the negative effect caused by the consumption of poor quality drinking water but the incidence of certain nosological forms (cancer of the esophagus, gastrointestinal tract and kidney diseases) in the those regions of the Republic of Dagestan under consideration correlates with the characteristics of drinking water.Conclusion. The problem of pollution of water supply sources for the population in the dynamics of the long-term remains a priority concern. The quality and safety of drinking water are decreasing, which cannot but have a negative impact on public health. Correlation linkages between indicators of drinking water quality and oncological morbidity of the population were also established in indicators below the maximum permissible concentrations, which corresponds to a typical logistic model of causal relationships and serves as evidence of the high dependence of health disorders on chemical contamination of water supply sources.

AbstrakPDAM Kabupaten Kupang dalam mengelola pelayanan air bersih kepada masyarakat Kota Kupang menghadapi tantangan dalam pelayanannya. Salah satu permasalahan yang dihadapi PDAM adalah menyangkut tarif air minum. PDAM dalam menetapkan tarif selalu mengacu pada peraturan perundangan yang berlaku dengan pertimbangan tarif yang ada dapat memberikan keuntungan setelah biaya operasional dan pengembalian investasi. PDAM tidak pernah melakukan survey untuk mengetahui tingkat kesediaan konsumen dalam membayar tarif air minum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengestimasi nilai Willingness To Pay (WTP) pelanggan air bersih golongan rumah tangga di Kota Kupang dan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang secara signifikan mempengaruhi WTP pelanggan air bersih golongan rumah tangga di Kota Kupang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey deskriptif dan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan kombinasi antara Area Sampling dan Proportionate Random Samplingdengan 250 responden. Metode valuasi kontingensi digunakan untuk mengetahui nilai WTP pelanggan air bersih. Nilai WTP pelanggan (individu) per bulan dalam membayar air bersih sebesar Rp. 145.489,46 sedangkan nilai total WTP untuk seluruh pelanggan PDAM Kabupaten Kupang golongan rumah tangga A (Rp 20.846 konsumen) per tahun sebesar Rp 36.394.479.684,00. Faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap WTP adalah tingkat pendapatan dan jumlah pemakaian air.AbstractPDAM Kabupaten Kupang to manage clean water service always face challenges in its service. One of the problems that PDAM often faces is the tariff of drinking water. The PDAM in determining the tariff always refers to the prevailing law and regulation with the consideration of the existing tariff can give profit after the operational cost and the return of investment. PDAM has never conducted a survey to find out how much the willingness of consumers in paying drinking water rates. This study aims to estimate the value of Willingness To Pay (WTP) of household clean water subscribers in Kupang City and to analyze the factors that significantly affect the WTP of household clean water subscribers in Kupang City. The research method used is descriptive survey method and sampling technique using a combination of sampling area and proportionate random sampling with 250 respondents. Contingency valuation method is used to know the value of PAP of clean water customer. WTP value of customer (individual) per month in paying clean water Rp. 145,489.46 while the total value of WTP for all customers of PDAM Kabupaten Kupang household class A (20,846 consumers) per year amounted to 36.394.479.684,00. Factors that have significant effect on the PAP are the level of income and the amount of water consumption.
