ABSTRACT Environmental Education, which became Law in Brazil in 1999, seeks to reflect and raise awareness about social and environmental issues to transform students into "environmental citizens". Studies show that the level of environmental awareness of each individual is directly related to the degree of environmental perception and that this, directly reflects on the environmental behavior of the individual. For this reason, the present study aimed to evaluate the construction of the environmental perception of Brazilian university students. The research was carried out in 5 Brazilian universities with a total of 553 respondents, being three public universities and two private universities. For data analysis, the modeling of structural equations using the software SmartPLS 2.0 M3 was used. The result indicates that the environmental perception of the university has a focus on recycling, water and energy saving and reduction of consumption, apart from these issues, the constructs that formed the perception of the environment, were not effective for the formation of environmental awareness.   KEYWORDS: Environmental Education, Environmental Perception, Higher Education, Sustainability. Abstract The present work was carried out with the aim of inquiring about knowledge on general environmental issues, daily habits, predisposition towards caring for the environment and the index of environmental culture of a group of students entering the agronomic engineering career at the National University of Luján (UNLu) and consisted a written, individual and anonymous survey of 81 students. The results obtained confirm that it is necessary to promote not only the dissemination of knowledge related to the impact of agricultural production activities on the natural environment, but also the separation of waste, the reuse of materials such as paper, glass or metals, the purchase of products that are friendly to the environment, the decrease in the consumption of unnecessary products, the use of reusable bags when shopping and traveling on foot or by bicycle and in order to ensure that these habits can be extended to a greater number of people. These results, added to the interest expressed by the respondents in participating in different actions related to the care of the natural environment, invite us to think about the importance of developing environmental education actions from the different educational institutions, including the university.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND PRACTICE OF VALUES OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ABSTRACTEnvironmental education is fundamental in the life of the human being, allows developing habits that lead to the sustainable development of society and awareness of the natural environment on which we depend for the existence of life as we know it. The regulations that are established in a country are not those that will improve environmental knowledge and attitudes; but the constant education of each member of society; because they are the individual actions that added together collectively have the effect of changing the habits and culture of a community. Faced with this situation, teachers of educational institutions must be pioneers in environmental issues. There is still a lack of environmental awareness, because of that irreversible events have already occurred in the environment such as the loss of green areas and the extinction of species, among other consequences that will continue to be added if we do not act now. This research was carried out in the facilities of the State Technical University of Quevedo, with the purpose of assessing the impact that environmental education has on its students and the practice of values derived from this topic. The methods used in the research are analytical, descriptive and deductive; the results show that at least half of the students occasionally apply values of environmental education in their daily days for the care of the environment; while the majority of students agree that the little practice in environmental education leads to the contamination of ecosystems. KEYWORDS: environment; environmental education; environmental values; sustainability; sustainability.

<p>The period of environmentalism heightened environmental concern and subsequently the emergence of Environmental Education that is anchored on awareness. It is thought that increase in environmental awareness will reverse the misuse of the environment and its resources. Four decades after the international call for Environmental Education, Earth’s degradation is far from abating as it’s pristinity is consistently and irreversibly being eroded by no less than from anthropocentric activities. Humans have seen themselves as the dominant species that is apart and not part of the organisms that constitute the environment. The philosophical value free nature concepts and the theological assumption that human are the ultimate species together with the rise of capitalism and its surrogates consumerism together conspire to diminuate environmental health. To protect the environment therefore, we must refocus EE to change human’s view of the environment and attitude towards the utilization of its resources. Environmental education can become more effective in creating respect for the environment. This paper examined the failure of efforts at addressing environmental issues via environmental education. The paper posits that environmental problems are on the increase due to lack of deliberate responsibility and stewardship, lack of a unique EE curricula and ineffective pedagogy. We suggest therefore that EE can target human perception and attitude and direct then towards biocentric stewardship for the environment. This can be achieved through a deliberate pedagogy of environmental values that promotes sustainable attitude and respect for the environment. Humans must bear the burden of responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of the environment. We must replace the philosophical value free nature concepts that nature is a common commodity and the theological assumption that humans are the ultimate species. We must also rethink our consumerism nature and the endless faith in the efficacy of technology to solve reoccurrence human induced ecological problems. These issues must be embedded in the school curriculum. Pedagogical approach to EE should essentially be the experiential model. The school curriculum must be the carrier and doer of these values that are crucial to the sustainability of the environment. Environmental ethics, environmental code of conduct, environmental nationalism, nature as manifestation of God, ascetic consumerism are recommended as key component of environmental curricula and pedagogy.<strong> </strong></p>

Environmental issues have been a prominent issue worldwide and the increase in plastic production and the lack of post-consumer waste management programs result in inadequate disposal and deposition in terrestrial and aquatic environments, causing environmental impacts. This paper was developed through the analysis of aspects of pedagogical practice in relation to environmental education with the plastic theme and its environmental impact on the environment. In this perspective, environmental education through the individual and the collectivity builds social values, knowledge, skills and competences aimed at the conservation of the environment. However, it was observed that addressing environmental issues should be considered a challenge for teachers, as it is a broad and diverse subject, as they are not prepared for the development of these activities and schools do not have the infrastructure to meet the needs of approaches to environmental issues.

ABSTRACT Social phobia is born of the fear that a person has to come to be judged by others and even this fear can prevent the individual to perform their daily activities. This is how many people who suffer from this phobia feel constant fear of having new interpersonal relationships, speaking in public and this many times before the event of meeting someone new. Although these people know that they should not be afraid of those facts, it is simply something they cannot avoid in their interpersonal relationships since they face a serious problem, since communication and interaction between individuals are of vital importance. Therefore, in this scientific article the causes that gave rise to this disorder were determined in order to establish clear guidelines to improve the quality of life of the individual and its relationship with the environment. The study was conducted on 100 university students. The results allowed to establish that the indices of self-esteem and anxiety indicators were relevant at the time of diagnosing this problem in the university community.

Abstract: We live in a society that increasingly often uses visual language and image as a system of representation and interaction. Thus the imaginary system becomes of vital importance in the communication processes. The school has ceased to be the main source of information and training for adolescents. Nowadays, students who come to class do so in possession of a significant amount of knowledge arising from their social practices, their interactions and the context in which they develop. In a progressive and almost imperceptible way, the fragments of information acquired in these exchanges, together with the images that the subject captures, are composing their structures of meanings and shaping their social imaginary. All this creates in the individual constructs and entrenched preconceptions, which he uses to interpret his reality and determine the way in which they intervene with it. The lack of knowledge or disengagement of the experience itself, prior and parallel to the school, that students own, results in a situation where teachers are unable to provide potentially meaningful contents for students which could motivate them to initiate and maintain the learning process. This article presents some of the most relevant information contained in a research work carried out at the University of Seville on the conceptual world of students of artistic education of ESO and/or Bachillerato. Keywords: constructionism, meaningful learning, social imaginaries, social interaction, education research, concept maps.http://dx.doi.org/10.7203/eari.8.9965

Environment is a global concept today. Environmental education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible decisions. Environmental Education is an approach to learning. Environmental education refers to organized efforts to teach how natural environments function, and particularly, how human beings can manage behavior and ecosystems to live sustainably. It is a multi-disciplinary field integrating disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, ecology, earth science, atmospheric science, mathematics, and geography. Today our environment is being destructed due to various factors. One of the major causes of environmental destruction is human activities. Man with his great skill and adaptive power has brought lot of changes. It is time to realize that our Earth has limited resources. Educators and environment specialists are stressing that solution to the environment crises will require environmental awareness and understanding. Environmental awareness means to help social groups and individuals to acquire an awareness and sensitivity to the total environment and its allied problems. The importance of environmental awareness cannot be overemphasized. We must understand that to improve the environment is to improve the quality of life. Environmental education programs need to be planned nationally as there is difference in the environmental priorities. Fast growing populations, high .intensity agriculture, human settlements and slum improvement, introduction of modern transport systems, increasing demands for energy and industrialization are the environmental priorities for developing countries whereas over exploitation of resources, industrial pollution and waste disposal are the main environmental priorities for developed countries. The present paper discusses about achievement in Environmental Education in relation to Mental Health, Environmental Awareness and streams at students of under graduation level

The Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) is an organization that responds to environmental awareness and education through an environmental recollection. Environmental recollection was conducted among twenty student respondents who are scholars of CFCA. Using a researcher-developed questionnaire, data on the level of knowledge on four environmental issues: global warming, climate change, waste management and resource preservation and the action plans were gathered. Results show that the student respondents are well informed of the environmental issues prior to the environmental recollection but a significant increase in the level of knowledge was found after the environmental recollection. The students strongly agree on the plan to preserve the resources and the proper waste management procedures. All the students get information on environmental issues from their teachers, while majority also obtain them from media and seminars. Other information was obtained from home through their parents, classmates, and pamphlets. There is significant association between prior level of knowledge in waste management, prior level of knowledge in resource preservation and the post level of knowledge in all environmental issues and number of sources from which they get the information. Environmental recollection is a good tool in awakening the students in the current environmental situation.   Keywords - environmental recollection, environmental education, environmental sensitivity, environmental awareness, responsible behaviour, preservation
