This goal of this article is to reflect on the contributions of the method of the Theatre of the Oppressed used by a university extension experiment at a rural settlement in the city of Campina Grande (Paraíba/Brazil). This experiment was based both on Social Community Psychology and on Popular Education addressed to physical education and affectivity, envisaging stimulating and strengthening listening opportunities and the problematization of reality, supporting the autonomy and social leadership. The psycho-pedagogical workshops carried out with a group of children and a group of adolescents was one of the methodological instruments used. The workshops intended to stimulate the taste for reading, creativity, and the critical reflection and autonomy by using reading and social strategies, recreational games and different artistic languages, such as the method of the Theatre of the Oppressed. This method was also used through the presentation of a play for the community, which was assembled according to the forum-theatre technique based on information obtained in the settlement. Starting from the report after three workshops and after the forum-theatre experiment they concluded that the method of the Theatre of the Oppressed aligns to the theoretical perspectives adopted and contributes to the development of more participative, critical and solidarity postures envisaging social changes.

Physical Education is one of the subjects that arouses the most interest in children. The aim of this study is to find out the opinion that primary school students have about the Physical Education class. Drawings from a sample of 62 students from an educational centre in the city of Jaén, aged between six and eight years old, were analysed. The results show that the larger size of the drawings corresponds to the aspects that are to be emphasised. This subject is carried out regularly in the sports pavilion of the centre, making frequent use of materials such as sticks, hoops or balls. Cheerful colours are used, reflecting their enthusiasm for the subject. The smiling facial expression represents the schoolchildren’s interest in the subject. The most popular games or sports are basketball and pichi, both of them collective.

This edited volume provides a multifaceted investigation of the dynamic interrelations between visual arts and urbanization in contemporary Mainland China with a focus on unseen representations and urban interventions brought about by the transformations of the urban space and the various problems associated with it. Through a wide range of illuminating case studies, the authors demonstrate how innovative artistic and creative practices initiated by various stakeholders not only raise critical awareness on socio-political issues of Chinese urbanization but also actively reshape the urban living spaces. The formation of new collaborations, agencies, aesthetics and cultural production sites facilitate diverse forms of cultural activism as they challenge the dominant ways of interpreting social changes and encourage civic participation in the production of alternative meanings in and of the city. Their significance lies in their potential to question current values and power structures as well as to foster new subjectivities for disparate individuals and social groups.

Philosophy has been a subversive practice since the time of Socrates. Recognizing no authority other than the persuasiveness of dialectics, philosophy designated a thinking beyond the boundaries of the city: an estranging conception, an elsewhere of thought. It is from this critical distance that philosophy derived its political vocation. In the era of global capitalism, however, philosophy has become institutionalized and lost its subversive potential. To this end, philosophy has accepted that it should no longer pose too many questions, especially the ones which are most fundamental, resulting in a dearth of in-depth public questioning, and the slumber of critical reasoning. Hence, philosophy needs to rediscover its political vocation in order to reawaken consciences and to once again embrace that theoretical and practical commitment which never accepts anything without critical reflection. By doing so, it will be possible to restore philosophy to its original role as a guiding light for the community.

This paper is studying influence of new technologies on city development with accent on socio-spatial dimension. The primary goal of the paper is to point out the reflections of earlier ideas in the context of modern technological processes in cities. All social, technical and technological components of a community, and finally civilization, are reflected within space of the city. Although having remained the greatest consumer of many material goods, city has also become a ‘’producer’’ of many technical-technological and spiritual values of civilization. Taking into account acceleration of phenomena in the world of technology and technology featuring modernity, it reasonably brings a question on realistic chance for prediction of their further course and related social changes that are about to cause it. In many scenarios of urban future, one can sense the idea of a city as a result of high technological achievements of civilization. Special attention is paid on informational city which, connecting a lot of people into systems of interactive information technology change the way of their mutual communication, as well as their social life and culture of behaviour. Measure of organization and function of city is set by telecommunication technologies, information, and computers. If city is a ‘’print of a society in space’’, then a contemporary moment refers to ‘’digitalization’’ of human beings, digitalization of their interactions, new aesthetics, value and other criteria. The tendency of this paper is to contribute to the understanding of new technologies on 21st century cities interpreted primarily through the prism of certain theoretical and experimental ideas and concepts of the 20th century.

Abstract. Objective: the article focuses on the evaluation that take place in the physical education class, considering the techniques and instruments that are carried out in this scenario. The project was titled: "Evaluative practices in the Physical Education class in the city of Manizales and Villamaría, Colombia" and its purpose was to unveil the tendencies that occur in the formative processes, based on the identification and interpretation of these. Methodology developed: the research was undertaken from the qualitative paradigm with a complementarity approach, in which class observations, interviews with students and teachers of elementary school, high school and middle school were conducted, which were categorized by means of an open, axial and selective coding. Results: it was found that the evaluation in the Physical Education class tends to be understood in a polysemic way, that is, this act originates practices in which physical performance and/or attitudinal aspects are privileged, which finally end up obscuring the conceptual contents. Conclusions and discussions: this is why evaluation is merely a simple tool, which focuses on the verification of learning and task accomplishment, thus ignoring the importance of self-evaluation and metacognitive processes.

ABSTRACT. School physical education teachers-researchers: idiosyncrasies and support to teacher educa¬tion in Fortaleza’s (Brazil) metropolitan region. Background: We have investigated the characteristics of the educative processes of three teachers and the reasons underpinned by their mobilization as teachers who care about researching. Objective: The objective of our investigation is to understand the idiosyncrasies of these teachers, who investigate their own educational practices in basic education in the area of physical education in the city of Fortaleza and in the metropolitan region. Methods: Our study is based on qualitative research with the collaboration of physical education teachers from public schools of the State basic education network at Fortaleza. The collaborative research was carried out with one female teacher and two male teachers over one year and a half. Results: The main result of the research is the effective engagement of teachers with their educational practices. Therefore, responsibility for teaching processes is associated with the modes of research carried out by the teachers. Conclusion: We consider that the involvement with projects and also within academic groups at universities, both during undergraduate and postgraduate courses, differentiate the work of each teacher in (self) educative terms.

A partir dessa perspectiva, buscamos apontar as especificidades das práticas de professores e alunos nas aulas de Educação Física nas escolas desse município mineiro.</p><p><strong>Palavras-chave:</strong> História da Educação – História da Educação Física – Triângulo Mineiro.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Abstract: </strong>This article is concerned about the implementation of Physical Education in schools in the city Ituiutaba (<em>Triângulo Mineiro</em>) between 1934 and 1971. The adoption of physical activities in school curriculums aimed to <em>discipline</em> and <em>purify</em> the local youth and children reflected the new pedagogical ideal directed to the control of the "insubordinate instincts", seeking to regulate behaviors and contributing to the new social organization which appeared with the urban and industrial society, especially after the Second World War. Such a context brought about the need for development of a high degree of productive efficiency, where schooling would be essential to achieve such purpose, beyond the contribution to the transmission of the idea which was necessary to ensure a "pure education" in the fight against large epidemic outbreaks. From this perspective, we highlight the specific practices of teachers and students in Physical Education classes in the schools of this city.</p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> History of Education – History of Physical Education – Triângulo Mineiro.</p>
