This article identifies irrigated row-crop farmer factors associated with the adoption of water conserving practices. The analysis is performed on data from a survey of irrigators in Mississippi. Regression results show that the number of irrigated acres, years of education, perception of a groundwater problem, and participation in conservation programs are positively associated with practice adoption; while number of years farming, growing rice, and pumping cost are negatively associated with adoption. However, not all factors are statistically significant for all practices. Survey results indicate that only a third of growers are aware of groundwater problems at the farm or state level; and this lack of awareness is related to whether farmers noticed a change in the depth-to-water distance in their irrigation wells. This evidence is consistent with a report to Congress from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that recommends policies promoting the use of: (1) more efficient irrigation technology and practices and (2) precision agriculture technologies, such as soil moisture sensors and irrigation automation.

During the last six years, exceptionally favourable external conditions for an upsurge of the domestic economy have been developed. However, they failed to result in an economic boom, which has been estimated by the authors as quite possible. One of the reasons for this - deterioration of the investment climate in the country that caused a decline of business activities and money demand decrease thus leading to reduction of potential GDP growth rate. The accumulated modernisation problems cannot be resolved without increasing the economic dynamics. But this requires an economic policy able to facilitate predictability of Russian business operational environment, to protect it legally, to secure a system of partnership relations with the government and to respect the interests of the main participants in the state level decision-making process concerning business undertakings and investment climate.

For the past two decades, student perception surveys have become standard tools in data collection efforts. At the state level, however, “student voice” is still used sparingly. In this study, we examine the ways in which including student survey results might alter state accountability determinations. Reconstructing the accountability system in Massachusetts, we draw on a unique set of student survey data, which we add to the state’s formula at a maximally feasible dosage in order to determine new school ratings. As we find, student survey data shift school accountability ratings in small but meaningful ways and appear to enhance functional validity. Student survey results introduce information about school quality that is not captured by typical accountability metrics, correlate moderately with test score growth, and are not predicted by student demographic variables.

The articles object is a process of accounting and information support for the formation of depreciation policy. The purpose of this article is to develop a conceptual framework for a common accounting and information space of depreciation policy. First, the authors consider the benefits of total digitalization of the organization and methodological support of depreciation policy process and make some assumptions related to the concept of enterprise’s economic data protection.  Since the scientific challenge is how to effectively monitor and quickly adjust depreciation policy, the authors have chosen methods to analyze the relations between business, government regulation, and economic data security. In the course of the research, a survey of 376 enterprises of Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine was conducted. To identify impact of the enterprise size on the availability of information about individual indicators, they are grouped according to the selected system of taxation (simplified and general). In addition, the survey results and monitoring of the beta version of depreciation policy's information portal were presented. It was also concluded that the accounting indicators can be used to quickly adjust the depreciation policy at the state level.

In fall 2008, General Motors and Chrysler were both on the brink of bankruptcy, and Ford was not far behind. As the government stepped in and restructuring began, GM and Chrysler announced their plan to terminate about 2,200 dealerships. In this paper, we first provide an overview of franchising in car distribution, how it came about, and the legal framework within which it functions. States earn about 20 percent of all state sales taxes from auto dealers. As a result, new car dealerships, and especially local or state car dealership associations, have been able to exert influence over local legislatures. This has led to a set of state laws that almost guarantee dealership profitability and survival—albeit at the expense of manufacturer profits. Available evidence and theory suggests that as a result of these laws, distribution costs and retail prices are higher than they otherwise would be; and this is particularly true for Detroit's Big Three car manufacturers—which is likely a factor contributing to their losses in market share vis-à-vis other manufacturers. After discussing the evidence on the effects of the car franchise laws on dealer profit and car prices, we turn to the interaction of the franchise laws and manufacturers' response to the auto crisis. Last, we consider what car distribution might be like if there were no constraints on organization. We conclude that although the state-level franchise laws came about for a reason, the current crisis perhaps provides an opportunity to reconsider the kind of regulatory framework that would best serve consumers, rather than carmakers or car dealers.

This article describes the start-up of a new interdisciplinary Master’s program in Wildlife Management at Arba Minch University (AMU), Ethiopia. The need, salient features, review of curriculum, and stakeholders of the program are examined. The human dimensions of wildlife management have been given its due with an aim to get biodiversity stewardship on a firm footing in the country. The program, aims to link young graduates to regional stakeholders on conservation perspectives through courses such as Human Dimensions of Wildlife Management, Wildlife Economics and Entrepreneurship and Biodiversity Conservation. The scope of wildlife tourism in Ethiopia has been highlighted in the program. The survey results of stakeholder representatives found good prospects for the sustainability of the MSc program in wildlife management provided stakeholder coordination and community participation in the program are diligently ensured. In conclusion, the Master’s program in wildlife management is interdisciplinary, job-oriented and intended to prepare a new generation for placements with the government, NGOs and private sector in order to contribute to wildlife management and biodiversity stewardship in Ethiopia

Kozhikode district of North Kerala, India witnessed an outbreak of Nipah virus (NiV) in the month of May 2018. Two adjacent districts were affected leaving 17 patients dead out of the 19 confirmed. United Nations and WHO lauded the expeditious response of the state’s health system in the diagnosis and containment of the outbreak which was unprecedented. The authors being in the contact tracing and surveillance operation district team, had kept a record of timeline of events and actions at the state level, compiled the news clippings and tracked events. In the absence of an end‑of‑epidemic report for reference, these records served as a valuable tool for the present review. We used the Management science for health frame work tool (MSH framework) to evaluate the district and state coordinated actions which helped in curbing the outbreak. Though NiV outbreak in South India (2018) had similar epidemiological features to previous disease outbreaks, it stands out as the one to be detected and contained in a short span of time. As health personnel working in the government medical college of an affected district and directly involved in contact tracing operations and containment measures, exploring and sharing, what worked and how, in the context of multidisciplinary response and recovery attempts of the outbreak in the state may be beneficial to public health personnel and policy makers. This management framework may be replicated in the national and international context, particularly in South East Asian region under threat of emerging viral infections like COVID-19, lacking specific epidemic management frameworks for outbreak response and containment.

<p>Sugar is one of Indonesia’s strategic commodities, but its production fluctuates over time and is still unable to comply with the national sugar demand. This condition may even get worst with climate change. Although climate-smart agriculture is a promising thing, it is basically a genuine concept for many farmers in Indonesia, including sugarcane growers. The paper briefly reviews and argues agronomic practices as a climate-smart agriculture approach adapted by sugarcane growers in Indonesia to increase its production under the changing climate. Some agronomic practices can be adopted by the Indonesian sugarcane growers as climate-smart agriculture, i.e., efficient irrigation, improved drainage of sugarcane plantations, the use of suitable sugarcane cultivars, green cane harvesting-trash blanketing, the amendment of soil organic matter, crop diversification, precision agriculture, and integrated pest management. From the Indonesian government’s side, research should be propped as there is limited information about the effectiveness of each aforementioned agronomic intervention to alleviating the adverse effect of climate change and to improving sugarcane growth. Practically, to ensure the success of climate-smart agriculture implementation in the Indonesian sugar industry, multistakeholders, i.e., sugarcane growers, researchers, civil society, and policymakers, should be involved, and the government needs to link these stakeholders.</p><p>Keywords: Sugarcane, productivity, climate-smart agriculture, agronomic management, precision agriculture</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p><strong>Implementasi Pertanian Cerdas Iklim untuk Meningkatkan Produktivitas Tebu di Indonesia</strong></p><p>Gula merupakan salah satu komoditas strategis Indonesia, namun produksinya mengalami fluktuasi dan belum dapat memenuhi kebutuhan gula nasional. Kondisi ini diperburuk oleh perubahan iklim. Pertanian cerdas iklim memberikan peluang besar bagi tanaman tebu untuk dapat beradaptasi dan memitigasi dampak perubahan iklim. Meskipun pertanian cerdas iklim menjanjikan, namun merupakan hal baru bagi banyak petani di Indonesia, termasuk petani tebu. Tulisan ini menelaah dan mengemukakan praktek agronomi sebagai pendekatan pertanian cerdas iklim yang dapat diterapkan petani tebu di Indonesia dengan tujuan meningkatkan produksi tebu di bawah kondisi perubahan iklim. Terdapat beberapa praktik agronomis sebagai bagian dari pertanian cerdas iklim yang dapat diadopsi petani tebu di Indonesia, seperti efisiensi irigasi, perbaikan sistem drainase, pemilihan kultivar tebu yang sesuai, pemanfaatan residu serasah tebu, peningkatan bahan organik tanah, diversifikasi tanaman, pertanian presisi, dan pengelolaan hama terpadu. Dari perspektif pemerintah Indonesia, penelitian harus didukung karena terbatasnya informasi efektivitas masing-masing intervensi agronomi tersebut untuk mengurangi dampak buruk perubahan iklim dan untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan tebu. Secara praktis, untuk memastikan keberhasilan penerapan pertanian cerdas iklim pada industri gula Indonesia, multi-stakeholder yang terdiri atas petani tebu, peneliti, masyarakat sipil, dan pembuat kebijakan harus saling terlibat dan pemerintah perlu menghubungkan para pemangku kepentingan ini.</p><p>Kata kunci: Tebu, produktivitas, pertanian cerdas iklim, manajemen agronomis, pertanian presisi</p>

ABSTRAKPenulisan makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media pembelajaran online dalam pemahaman dan minat siswa dalam mempelajari konsep-konsep fisika dan untuk respon siswa mengenai penerapan media pembelajaran online, pemerintah memberlakukan kebijakan jarak sosial atau dikenal sebagai jarak fisik dan oleh karena itu sekolah memutuskan untuk belajar jarak jauh yang ditakuti selama pandemi menggunakan media pembelajaran online minat belajar siswa akan menurun.Dari hasil survai menggunakan kuesioner di google form terhadap siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas diperoleh 18,8% setuju menggunakan media pembelajaran online dan 52,75% tidak setuju menggnakan media pembelajran online. dari hasil data tersebut dikatakan "tidak kuat" ini menunjukkan respon siswa segatif terhadap menggunakan media pembelajran online. minat belajar siswa lebih meningkat bila pembelajaran online dilakukan di dalam kelas. selama pandemi berlangsung sebaiknya pendidik atau guru lebih keatif dalam melakukan pemebelajaran online dirumah agar siswa tidak merasa bosan dan semangat saat sedang pembelajaran jarak jauh. sehingga minat belajar siswa dapat meningkat dan memahami konsep fisik  Kata kunci: covid 19; pembelajaran; fisika. ABSTRACTWriting this paper aims to determine the effect of online learning media in students' understanding and interest in learning the concepts of physics and for student responses regarding the application of online learning media, the government imposed social distancing policy or known as physical distancing and therefore schools decided to distance learning feared during the pandemic using online learning media student learning interest will decrease. From the survey results using a questionnaire on the Google form of high school students obtained 18.8% agreed to use online learning media and 52.75% did not agree to use online learning media. from the results of the data it is said "not strong" this shows the response of students to use the online learning media. Student interest in learning increases when online learning is done in the classroom.
