This study aims to determine the implementation of the learning problem-solving laboratory model and improvement of critical thinking skills of students on temperature and heat topic. The method used in this research was pre-experiment, with one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was class X SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Garut. The sample was selected by random sampling technique, with a sample of one class X-2, amounting to 30 people. The implementation of problem-solving laboratory model learning was observed by observers with observation sheets and improvement of students' critical thinking skills measured by essay tests. The results showed that the average implementation of problem-solving laboratory model learning for teacher activities was 84% and student activities at 80% were both categorized well. There was an increase in the critical thinking skills of students shown by the average of the normalized gain value of 0.64 include the medium category. Thus, the problem-solving laboratory model learning can be used as an alternative in improving students' critical thinking skills on the topic of temperature and heat.

This study aims to determine the implementation of cooperative learning models using type Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) and the improvement of students' critical-thinking skills in momentum and impulses topic. We use pre-experiment design, with the one-group pretest-posttest. The population of this study was class X MIA YAS Bandung with the sample of class X MIA 2 amounted to 30 students selected by random technique. We use the observation sheet as the instrument to observe the implementation of teacher and student activities during the cooperative learning model type SFAE. The essay tests are used to measure the improvement of students' critical-thinking skills. The results of the study showed that the implementation of teacher activities was 81% and student activities by 77% in the good category. Increasing students' critical-thinking skills is the medium category with an average normalized gain value of 0.63. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test, it was obtained t-count (34.08) > t-table (2.052) which means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It was concluded that there was an increase in students' critical-thinking skills after applying the SFAE type cooperative learning model to the material of momentum and impulse. Thus, this learning model of type SFAE can be used to improve students' higher-order thinking skills.

The availability of facilities and infrastructure in learning Cell and molecular biology courses is needed to support the achievement of learning objectives. Based on the results of observations in the Imelda University, Pharmacy Department, the lack of implementation due to the lack of facilities and infrastructure that support the practicum causes a lack of improvement in students' critical thinking skills. The ability to think critically is the main factor affecting student understanding. In this case, the media that can support this is a problem solving-based virtual laboratory to encourage students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to identify the effect of a problem solving-based virtual biology laboratory on the critical thinking skills of students in the Pharmacy Undergraduate Study Program at Imelda University, Medan. The research design was one group pre-test posttest. Data collection was carried out starting in January 2020, followed by data processing and analysis. The sample in this study were all students of the first semester Pharmacy Department at Imelda University, totaling 63 people. The sampling technique in this study is total sampling. The statistical analysis used was one sample T-test. Based on the results of the discussion based on the problems and research objectives, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant effect with p 0.00 <0.05 in the use of problem solving-based virtual laboratories on students' critical thinking skills in the cell and molecular biology courses at the Imelda University Pharmacy Department. With the virtual laboratory, students learn the principles of science in a fast, effective and fun way through virtual laboratory interactions and navigation.

Mathematical critical thinking skills in mathematics learning is an ability that needs to be mastered by every student in order to support students in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to analyzing the influence and interaction of the ARCS model and learning motivation on students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This research is a quasi-experimental design using cluster random sampling as a sampling technique. The data collection technique used an essay test to determine MCT and a questionnaire to see motivation. The data analysis technique used the normality test, homogeneity, and two-way ANOVA. The results have shown that there is an effect of the ARCS learning model on students' mathematical critical thinking ability, there is no influence of learning motivation on mathematical critical thinking skills, and there is no interaction between ARCS model learning and motivation towards mathematical critical thinking ability. Therefore, the ARCS model can be solution to fostering of mathematical critical thinking abilities.

This study aims to determine the effect of learning cycle 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaboration, & Evaluate) on student’s critical thinking skills of class X in MAN 1 Mataram. This research type is quasi experiment with research design untreated control group with pretest and posttest design. The sample was selected by cluster random sampling technique and obtained X MIA 1 class as experiment class using learning cycle 5E model and X MIA 2 class as control class using cooperative learning type STAD model. The critical thinking ability’s data collected by essay test that are 5 questions that have been tested for validation, reliability, difficulty level, and index of discrimination. Researchers used homogeneity test, normality test, t-test polled variance, and N-Gain test as statistical test. N-Gain test are used to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills in each indicator. The experimental class get improvement result in medium category for all indicators, while the control class get improvement in medium category on three indicators and two other indicators in low category. Based on result of hypothesis test can be concluded that there is effect of learning cycle 5E model to critical thinking ability of students.

This study aims to determine the effect of PhET-assisted problem solving methods on students' critical thinking skills. This research is a quasi-experimental research with pretest posttest control group design. Sampling was done by simple random sampling technique, namely class XI IPA-1 as the experimental class and XI IPA-2 as the control class. The research was conducted in one of the senior high schools in Central Lombok – West Nusa Tenggara. The data analysis technique used is t-test using SPSS. The result of hypothesis testing is that the t-test value is less than 0.05. These results indicate that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the results of research and data analysis, it can be concluded that the PhET-assisted problem solving learning method affects students' critical thinking skills.

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical critical thinking abilities through problem solving methods. This study was hold at MAN 3 Bireuen (High School Level) in the 2019/2020 school’s year. The research method was a quasi-experimental study design nonrandomized Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design. The population of the study were all students of Class XI MAN 3 Bireuen with purposive sampling technique. The study sample was to 30 students for the experimental class and 28 students for the control class. The skill increasing was calculated using normalized gain. Data were analyzed using the t test. The results showed that students’ critical thinking skills mathematically taught through problem solving methods is better than students mathematical critical thinking skills taught through conventional learning.

This study aimed to improve the critical thinking skills of class XI high school on acid base material in the 2018/2019 using the talking stick method. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection so that this study describes planning, activities and improving critical thinking skills of high school of class XI. The subjects of this research is all students of grade XI in one of the South Tangerang high schools in Indonesia which consisted of 33 students. Data collection techniques in this study were using essay tests, observation sheets, teacher activities, student activities, field notes and interviews. The results of this study indicate that students’ critical thinking skills increase using the talking stick method seen from the student ability to answer questions, express opinions, respond to friend opinions and consider sources. Critical thinking skills has increased, in the first cycle that is equal to 21.20% while in the second cycle is 90.90%. It can be concluded that the use of the talking stick method can improve the critical thinking skills of class IX high school in acid base material.

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know the differences increase critical thinking skills through learning group and individual problem solving in thermochemical material. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design and study sample consisted of 103 students, divided into the first experimental (group problem solving) (35 students), the two group experimental (individual problem solving) (34 students). The collected through pretest-posttest. The analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test, the results showed that the learning problem solving as a group or individually can improve students’ critical thinking skills. Statistical test there are significant differences in the students critical thinking skills thermochemical material between students who received group and individual problem solving. Critical thinking skills improvement with problem solving individual learning higher compared with group learning problem solving.Keywords: problem solving learning, critical thinking skillsABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pembelajaran group dan individual problem solving pada materi termokimia. Data dianalisis dengan uji Kruskal Wallis Test, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran problem solving secara group maupun secara individual dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Data uji statistik, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi termokimia antara siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran group problem solving dan individual problem solving. Mathematical Critical thinking is one of  mathematical abilities that must be obtained by students. Critical thinking is one of the high order thinking processes that can make concepts in student knowledge.  Students with critical thinking in mathematics learning mostly do rational activities such as interpreting information based on a particular theoretical framework, linking theory with practice, making claims and justifying it, utilizing data in support of argumentation, making relations or relationships between various ideas, asking questions, evaluating knowledge, predict, describe something, analyze, synthesize, and categorize. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Concept-Based Learning Model on the critical thingking mathematical abilities.The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Concept-Based Learning Model toward mathematics critical thinking ability. The method used in this research is quasi experiment by Randomize Control Group Post Test Only Design with cluster random sampling technique. Indicators of mathematics critical thinking skills measured in this study include providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, making more explanations, and deciding an action. The results showed that the mathematics critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class for the five indicators that being analyze was higher than the ability of students in the control class. A fairly high difference in the indicator showed in give a simple explanation and concluding. and it means that the application of Concept-Based Learning Model significantly influences the  abilities  of students' mathematics critical thinking.

Conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills are necessary for all students to help them in their learning process. This research aims to determine the effect of Moodle-assisted e-learning on (1) conceptual understanding, (2) critical thinking skills, and (3) conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills combined. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with random cluster sampling was used as the sampling technique. An algebra written test was used to collect research data. Furthermore, the researchers performed the normality test, homogeneity test, and MANOVA analysis to analyze the data. The researchers discovered that Moodle-assisted e-learning influenced students' conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills.
