Industrial development besides having a positive impact on the economy, also has a negative impact such as the waste industry. Non-hazardous and non-toxic material waste no to be handled as strictly as hazardous and toxic material waste, although the waste industry. This issues (1) How is the development of hazardous and toxic waste transportation?; and (2) How is the hazardous and toxic waste transportation system? The response to the issues are the aims of this research. The method used is a literature study and analyzed descriptively. The results of the search for hazardous and toxic waste transportation data for the 2015–19 period and analysis shows: (1) The amount of hazardous and toxic waste in Indonesia decreasing, but the waste transportation companies increase by 40.98% (3650 waste transportation service companies) from 2589 in 2018; (2) the number of permits increased by an average of 23.58%/year; (3) the number of vehicles hazardous transporting is 8,984 vehicles or 4 times from 2015; and (5) the contributing sectors for hazardous are Mining, Energy and Oil and Gas; Manufacture; Infrastructure and Services; and Agro Industry.

The development of religious extremism in Indonesia continues to increase every year so that serious attention is needed by the government to deal with religious extremism in Indonesia. Indonesia is an archipelagic country where there are various ethnic groups and religions that coexist. However, the development of religious extremism sometimes becomes a serious problem for the Indonesian people because it can have a negative impact and damage the unity between nations and religions. This research uses literature study. This research method is carried out by reviewing various literatures, both books, newspapers, survey reports, academic journals related to religious extremism in Indonesia. The results show that not all religious extremism has an impact on the emergence of terrorism, but the government still must make the right policies in handling religious extremism that can cause division and affect peoples welfare. The policies that have been made by the government are considered appropriate and based on the laws that have been set by the government so that they can have a positive impact in maintaining the unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation.

As the world continues to experience problems including a lack of seafood and high energy demands, this paper provides an assessment for integrated multi-use offshore platforms (MUPs) as a step towards exploiting open seawater in a sustainable way to harvest food and energy. The paper begins with background about MUPs, including information regarding what an MUP is and why it is used. The potential energy technologies that can be involved in an offshore platform are introduced while addressing similar applications all over the world. The paper presents the state of the art of MUP structures on the light of EU-funded programs. An MUP would have a positive impact on various marine activities such as tourism, aquaculture, transport, oil and gas and leisure. However, there are concerns about the negative impact of MUPs on the marine environment and ecosystem. Building an MUP with 100% renewable energy resources is still a challenge because a large storage capacity must be considered with a well-designed control system. However, marine bio-mass would play a vital role in reducing battery size and improving power supply reliability. Direct Current (DC) systems have never been considered for offshore platforms, but they could be a better alternative as a simpler control system that requires with lower costs, has lower distribution losses, and has an increased system efficiency, so studying the feasibility of using DC systems for MUPs is required.

This paper aims at providing an empirical evidence concerning the relationship between the ownership structure, capital structure and financial performance of the shareholding companies listed in Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). To measure the ownership structure, the researcher used four variables including foreign, institutional, managerial and concentrated ownership. The capital structure is measured by using the leverage, and the performance is measured by using the return on assets (ROA). To achieve the objectives of the study, a sample of 86 firms from the industrial and service companies listed in ASE during the period 2010 and 2014 is used. The results of the study showed that the relationship between ownership structure in general, and performance is positive and statistically significant, however, the results showed that the various types of ownership structure have different types of relationships with performance. More specifically, there is a negative impact of institutional and foreign ownerships on the performance and positive impact of concentrated and managerial ownerships. The results also revealed that there is a positive impact of the financial leverage on the relationship between ownership structure and firm performance. The findings of the study provide implications to the regulators, investors and managers in Jordan to take into consideration the environment-specific factors when developing corporate regulations and encourage concentrated and managerial ownership because they have positive impact on performance.

Most of Russia’s oil and gas resources are located in Western Siberia, which is an environmentally fragile area, a home for indigenous peoples, and one of the world’s greatest land-based sinks for carbon dioxide emissions. Russian oil and gas development over the last fifty years has had significant environmental impacts on Western Siberia and may also have affected the world environment by adding to global warming. The Tyumen Region is one of the biggest administrative regions in the area. 60 per cent of Russia’s oil reserves and 80 per cent of Russia’s gas reserves are located in the northern territories of the Tyumen Region, much on its continental shelf. The legislation governing environmental protection on the federal and regional level lacks clear-cut rules and measures that can safeguard one of the world’s most valuable environmental areas. Another negative impact of oil and gas development is the disturbance to indigenous peoples who have populated the northern Siberian territories for thousands of years. Today, protection of their territories and traditional way of life in the areas of industrial development is insufficient. The authors analyse the Russian environmental regulations of oil and gas, outline main shortcomings and formulate some legal measures that should be incorporated into federal legislation and legislation of the Tyumen Region.

Abstract Foreign trade in sub-developed regions may lead to serious environmental problems. Impact of foreign trade in sub-developed regions on green economic efficiency and its possible impact channels are qualitatively analyzed, empirical tests are conducted based on the data of 80 Prefecture-level cities in Central China. Results show that: 1. Foreign trade of Central China will have a significant direct negative impact on green economic efficiency, which is not conducive to green growth. 2. Expanding the scale of foreign trade in Central China will stimulate industries agglomerate to big cities and promote the level of industrial specialization within the region, which will have indirect negative impacts on green economic efficiency. 3. Foreign trade in Central China will improve the policy environment for industrial development, then have an indirect positive impact on green economic efficiency, whereas its impact on technological innovation is not significant. 4. Impact of foreign trade in different cities in Central China on green economic efficiency are heterogeneous from the perspective of spatial heterogeneity and from the perspective of city characteristic heterogeneity, and when environmental regulation exceeds a certain threshold, the negative impact of foreign trade on green economic efficiency will turn to positive. Policy implications are proposed.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been existing for more than a year, and nearly all sectors have been affected by this condition, including the ecological sector. This study explores the ecological facts amidst the conditions of COVID-19 pandemic and aims to review some strategies to maintain the improved ecological conditions up to the post-pandemic era. This paper is a result of qualitative exploration based on secondary data and literature study. The analysis of the topic leads to some conclusions, including that the sharp decline in human activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a positive impact on the ecological condition, making it more natural and healthier. The most significant improvement in the ecological condition of the earth during the pandemic is the reduced air pollution. Meanwhile, the negative impact on ecology includes the increasing volume of plastic waste and medical waste. The outbreak of COVID-19 may not be the last pandemic faced by humans if they continue to destroy the nature. Good behavior that results in reduced pollution during the pandemic should be maintained and preserved in the COVID-19 post-pandemic future.
