<div><p class="Abstract"><em>This paper briefly discusses an effective, efficient, convenient ticketing system designed especially for the transportation system in the Indian Subcontinent, which can be also extended to different types of domain by introducing few changes in design according to working environment. This system reduces man power which in turn reduces the maintenance costs to a greater extent.</em></p></div>

The manufacture of fire robot has characteristics such as different types and piece production, and flexible manufacture and cost control of the fire robot must be considered due to these characteristics. In this paper, the similarity of fire robot’s working environment was analyzed, The demand of chassis’s adaptability and the method using general technical platform were discussed with the thinking of modular design, and new series fire robots which composed of the general platform and different function modules were proposed, and the manufacture cost of traditional design method and modular design method were compared in using the activity-based costing method, and under the new design method the manufacture cost were decreased extremely.

Walkability is becoming a popular buzzword in planning cities that suffers high level of pollution due to, amongst others, emission from automobiles are embracing walkability in order to reap its benefits. In addition to that, walkability is the measure of how satisfactorily the transportation system meets the need of walking of the community. Several studies around the world have put great efforts to highlight the importance of walkability in urban as it is an important measure in determining a better environment. There is a strong relationship between walkability, sustainable transportation and the environment. In addition to that, walkability is a concept that is consistent with sustainable development and transportation system due to its economic, social and environmental benefits. Walkability satisfaction rating within a localized neighborhood can be measured at the macro level with the aid of GIS at the initial development stages. The methods and techniques used are varying and no single walkability assessment tool can be designed to suit different environmental conditions. Different groups of societies for whom the theoretical and practical perception of cities development vary, or different types of neighborhoods with different needs would warrant different approaches. Therefore, this paper examines the methods, techniques and indicators that have been used to measure walkability and highlights the important benefits of improving walkability in the built environment. Moreover it also describes the relationship between walkability, sustainable transportation and environment.

The Bengal monitor lizard or Common Indian monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis Daudin, 1802) is classified as Least Concern under the IUCN and listed under the Schedule-I of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Further, the trade of the species is prohibited as the species is listed in Appendix I of CITES. It is widely distributed over Western Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia (Koch et al. 2013). It is reported to occupy both terrestrial as well as freshwater habitats from desert areas to floodplains, scrubland to forests, in different types of terrains at elevations below 1500m (Auffenberg 1994; Papenfuss et al. 2010). Body size of individuals varies from 61 to 175 cm from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail (Auffenberg 1994; Losos and Greene, 1998). Adults are generally grey or greenish-grey in color, with a ventral pattern of grey to black crossbars from the chin to the tail. Adult individuals are less contrasting and have a less distinct pattern than younger individuals. The species shows a sexual dimorphism, with males being heavier (around 7.18 to 10 kg) than females which are about 40% smaller in size (Papenfuss et al. 2010).

This paper presents a robot vision application, implemented in MATLAB working environment, developed for feature-based object recognition, object sorting and manipulation, based on shape classification and its pose calculus for proper positioning. The application described in this article, designed to detect, identify, classify and manipulate objects is based on previous robot vision applications that are presented in more detail in [1]. The idea underlying the mentioned applications is to determine the type, position and orientation of the work pieces (in those cases different types of bearings). Taking it further, in the presented application, objects that show shape with a gradual level of complexity are used. For this reason pattern recognition are discriminated by training a two layers neural network. The network is presented and also the input and output vectors.

This study uses naturalistic data from drivers operating instrumented vehicles to estimate the following distance by vehicle type and compute the passenger car equivalents of light duty trucks (LDTs). Unlike most previous studies, this study separates LDTs by vehicle type and produces evidence that cars follow different types of LDTs at different distances. While car drivers follow pickup trucks more closely, they follow SUVs and minivans at a greater distance. The external cost on the transportation system is estimated to be approximately $37 million annually in the Detroit area and $2.05 billion annually for the United States as a whole.

AbstractChina has become a land of social protests. Yet the Chinese state possesses considerable capacity and is rising on the world stage day by day. Why and how do Chinese people take to the streets? Where does their activism lead? This paper draws on a rich body of existing literature to provide an overview of the broad landscape of Chinese contentious politics and to dig deeper into a few common or emerging forms of social conflict. It then explores the various structural and political opportunity-based explanations for why protest occurs in China, before describing the ways in which different organizations and different framings of issues by citizens affect how protests play out. Shifting to where protests lead, the paper briefly surveys a variety of coercive and conciliatory institutions China possesses for social control and then documents distinct patterns in the state’s handling of different types of resistance—repressive, tolerant, concessionary, and mixed approaches—followed by an examination of the multifaceted impact of unrest. The conclusion offers suggestions for future researchers. Reviewing major concepts, debates, perspectives, and emerging research directions in studies of contentious politics in the world’s most populous country, this paper contributes to a more nuanced understanding of authoritarian politics and authoritarian resilience more generally.

The article presents results of the granulometric composition of chip particles when sanding wood (beech) and wood-based materials (particleboard and semi-hardboard) using different types of sanders – wide belt sander, narrow belt sander, and hand sander. On the basis of the carried out sieve analyses, the proportion of produced particles, which can be marked as dust with the particle size of ≤ 80 μm, is high at the interval from 89.21% - 96.29 %. The highest percentage of dust particles was reached at dust from the hand disk sander. At the end of the article we point to possible technical safety measures – additional dust exhausting, suction, to possibly reduce the dust getting to the working environment.

Urban tree diversity is important when attempting to create a healthy, beneficial, and resilient urban forest. Having a variety of trees can increase the aesthetic value for residents and create habitats for plants and animals. Some common street trees currently in the landscape are not site-appropriate and create infrastructure damage. By planting different types of trees in these locations, maintenance costs and infrastructure damage can be reduced and tree longevity increased. For robustness check, the estimation strategy survives the examination of the same predictors under different types of the working environment.Originality/valueThe original values of the work 1 combines for the first time both duration and technology as predictors of interview probability. Until now, the independent variables were used to test whether an individual has managed to exit unemployment, thus skipping the step of the interview process.

The paper considers the application of creative problem-solving (CPS) principles to the reduction of plant maintenance costs. A brief description of CPS principles and methods is first given. Three case studies are then described that illustrate the use of CPS on problems at plant and machine levels, by different group compositions and on problems of different types. A review of experience of the use of CPS methods by maintenance engineers trained in their use is also given. It is concluded that CPS is a valuable approach that may be used effectively to identify causes of maintenance problems and to find solutions to particular problems of diverse kinds that incur maintenance costs.
