terdiri atas takaran pupuk kasting : 0; 0,25; 0,50; 0,75; 1,0 kg/tanaman/pot.
pertumbuhan, produksi, mutu, Jawa Barat
ABSTRACT
The effect of casting fertilizer and types of seeds on
growth, yield and quality of young ginger
The most important constrains in ginger (Zingiber officinale Rose)
production are lack of good quality seeds and components of fertilizer
technology. The research was conducted to obtain the optimum condition
for ginger production from different parts of rhizome (physiological age)
and optimum dosage of casting. The research was conducted in Cimanggu
Research Instalation, Indonesian Spice and Medicinal Crops Research
Institute (ISMECRI) Bogor from August 1996 until January 1997 in pot
experiment which was arranged in completely randomized design with 2
factors and 3 replications. The first factor was 3 parts of rhizome position
(secondary, tertiary and quarter rhizomes) while the second factor was
dosage of casting fertilizer (0; 0.25; 0.50; 0.75; 1.0 kg/plant). The results
of the research indicated that the use of casting fertilizer could improve the
height of plant, number of leaves, number of tillers, fresh weight and dry
weight of rhizome, dry weight of leaves, dry weight of stem and dry
weight of root. Casting application improved starch content and nutrient
absorbtion of N, P, K and organic carbon. Combination treatment of
secondary, tertiary and quarter rhizomes combined with application of
casting 0.50 kg/plant, improved dry weight of rhizome 62.17 g, 59.49 g
and 58.65 g/plant and starch content of rhizome 40.71%, 34.36% and
39.57% respectively.
Key words : Zinger, Zingiber officinale, casting fertilizer seeds, growth,
yield, quality, West Java

Background: Onion is one of the most important crops widely cultivated throughout the world, including Ethiopia. The production of onion is mainly affected by the inadequate application of inorganic fertilizer types and rates. Objective: A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of nitrogen and sulfur fertilizers on the growth, yield, quality, and nutrient uptake of onion at Shewa Robit in 2018/19 under irrigation. Methods: The experiment consisted of four nitrogen rates (100, 150, 200, and 250 kg N /ha) and five sulfur rates (0, 15, 30, 45, and 60kg S/ha). The treatments were laid out in a factorial arrangement with three replications using randomized complete block design (RCBD). Bombay Red was used as a testing onion variety. Results: The interaction effect of nitrogen and sulfur significantly increased plant height, leaf length, leaf diameter, leaf area index, neck diameter, shoot dry weight, bulb fresh weight and bulb dry weight, percent dry matter content, yield, and quality parameters. The application of 200kg N/ha and 45 kg S/ha resulted in the highest yield (42.6 t ha-1), the average weight of bulb (193.6g), and a marketable bulb (99.8%). The highest N uptake (243.3 kg ha-1) and S uptake (31.9kg ha-1) were obtained by the combined application of 200 kgN/ha and 45kg S/ha. Conclusion: The application of 200 kgN/ha and 45kgS/ha can be recommended for high yield and quality onion production in the study area.

Red spinach (Amaranthus gangeticus) is one of the most popular vegetables because of its high nutritional value and easy cultivation. Efforts to increase the production of red spinach are to fertilize to meet the needs of both macro and micronutrients. This study aimed to determine the effect of ZA fertilizer dose on the growth and yield of red spinach. The environmental design used was a non-factorial, completely randomized design with four replications. The factors tested were the dose of ZA fertilizer which consisted of 6 levels, namely: without ZA fertilizer (D0); 0.4 gr/polybag (D1); 0.8 gr/polybag (D2); 1.2 gr/polybag (D3); 1.6 gr/polybag (D4); 2 gr/polybag (D5). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance, and if the results were significantly different, the BNT test was continued at a 5% level. The growth and yield of red spinach showed significant differences due to the ZA fertilizer dose treatment. The ZA fertilizer dose treatment of 1.2 g/polybag (D3) resulted in the highest plant height, the number of leaves, and leaf area of red spinach at 14, 21, and 28 days after planting. The ZA fertilizer dose treatment of 1.2 g/polybag (D3) resulted in the highest wet and dry weight plants of 49.15 and 4.38 grams, respectively. The ZA 1.2 gr/polybag dose is the ideal dose to increase the productivity of red spinach. Analisis data menggunakan analysis of variance (ANOVA), apabila berbeda nyata dilanjutkan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) taraf 5%.

5 aksesi jahe putih kecil, yaitu (1) Ziof 0004, (2) Ziof 0007, (3) Ziof 0008,
(4) Ziof 0013, dan (5) Ziof 0014, dan faktor II adalah dosis pupuk, yaitu
(a) 50% dosis anjuran (200 kg/ha urea + 150 kg/ha SP-36 + 150 kg/ha
KCl), (b) 75% dosis anjuran (300 kg/ha urea + 225 kg/ha SP-36 + 225
kg/ha KCl), dan (c) dosis anjuran (400 kg/ha urea + 300 kg/ha SP-36 +
300 kg/ha KCl). Masing-masing perlakuan diberi pupuk kandang sebagai
pupuk dasar dengan dosis 20 t/ha. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap
parameter pertumbuhan (tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, diameter batang,
Pengurangan
produksi

ABSTRACT
Response of five accessions of small white ginger to
fertilizers
The use of ginger varieties responsive to low fertilization dosages,
is expected to increase fertilizer use efficiency and reduce environmental
pollution. Research aimed at observing response of five small white ginger
accessions of low-dosage fertilization has been conducted in the Cimanggu
Experimental Station in from August 2009 through May 2010. Five small
white ginger accessions from marginal areas were planted in polybags.
The experiment was and arranged using a randomized block design was
repeated with 3 times replications. Each treatment consisted of 20 plants.
Two treatments were tested factorially, where factor I : 5 small white
ginger accessions, namely (1) Ziof 0004, (2) Ziof 0007, (3) Ziof 0008, (4)
Ziof 0013, and (5) Ziof 0014, and factor II : 3 fertilization dosages is
dosage of fertilizer, namely (a) 50% recommendation dosage (200 kg urea
+ 150 kg SP-36 + 150 kg KCl per hectare), (b) 75% recommendation
dosage (300 kg urea + 225 kg SP-36 + 225 kg KCl per hectare), and (c)
recommendation dosage (400 kg Urea + 300 kg SP-36 + 300 kg KCl per
hectare). Each treatment was given 20 t/ha of manure as basal fertilizer.
The parameters observed were growth parameters (plant height, number of
tillers, stem diameter, and number of leaves), yield and nutrient uptake of
N, P, and K at 4 and 9 months after planting (MAP). The results showed
that each of the accessions responded differently to the reduction of
fertilizer dosages, either in vegetative or generative growth phase of ginger
plants. Reduction of fertilizer dosages to 25% did not significantly reduce
the yield of ginger, however, fertilizer dosages reduction up to 50% of the
recommended dosages led to significant decrease of ginger yield.
Compositions of N, P, and K nutrients absorbed by plants were different in
every phase of plant growth.
Keywords : Accessions, Zingiber officinale, fertilizer, growth, yield

Trials were established in 2007, 2008, and 2009 in Ontario, Canada, to determine the effect of soil residues of saflufenacil on growth, yield, and quality of eight rotational crops planted 1 yr after application. In the year of establishment, saflufenacil was applied PRE to field corn at rates of 75, 100, and 200 g ai ha−1. Cabbage, carrot, cucumber, onion, pea, pepper, potato, and sugar beet were planted 1 yr later, maintained weed-free, and plant dry weight, yield, and quality measures of interest to processors for each crop were determined. Reductions in dry weight and yield of all grades of cucumber were determined at both the 100 and 200 g ha−1rates of saflufenacil. Plant dry weight, bulb number, and size and yield of onion were also reduced by saflufenacil at 100 and 200 g ha−1. Sugar beet plant dry weight and yield, but not sucrose content, were decreased by saflufenacil at 100 and 200 g ha−1. Cabbage plant dry weight, head size, and yield; carrot root weight and yield; and pepper dry weight, fruit number and size, and yield were only reduced in those treatments in which twice the field corn rate had been applied to simulate the effect of spray overlap in the previous year. Pea and potato were not negatively impacted by applications of saflufenacil in the year prior to planting. It is recommended that cabbage, carrot, cucumber, onion, pepper, and sugar beet not be planted the year after saflufenacil application at rates up to 200 g ha−1. Pea and potato can be safely planted the year following application of saflufenacil up to rates of 200 g ha−1.

ABSTRACT This research aimed to characterize the biometry of seeds, the morphology of seedlings and to evaluate the initial growth of blue jacaranda trees (Jacaranda mimosifolia D. Don.) in two environments with distinct luminosity. The biometry of 100 de-winged seeds was measured by their length, width and thickness. One hundred seeds were sown into 300 cm3 tubes and seedlings morphology was registered throughout the germination process using digital photographs disposed sequentially according to seedlings age. The initial growth analysis was performed in two environments, full sun and greenhouse, during nine periods, and arranged in a complete randomized design with subplots. The response variables were: number of leaves, plant height, collar diameter, root length, aerial and roots dry weight, and Dickson’s Quality Index (DQI). Biometry results showed seeds 7.09 - 9.26 mm long, 6.74 -9.39 mm wide, and 1.11 -1.89 mm thick. Germination is of hypogealphanerocotylar type, with first root arising six days after sown. Plants at full sun presented larger collar diameters, greater root dry weight and higher DQI as evaluation periods passed by. In conclusion, the biometry of seeds and the morphology of seedlings of blue jacaranda can be used to recognize this species in the field. Plants at full sun presented better development. Seedlings cultivated at full sun can be destined to recuperate forests and degraded areas just 36 weeks after sowed.

The study was conducted on sandy loam soil at IAAS Rampur, Chitwan during May to September, 2012 to evaluate the effect of different combinations of biogas slurry and urea on production of okra, laid out in a two-factor RCBD with three replications. Altogether ten treatments consist of two varieties namely Arka Anamika - open pollinated and Jaikisan-62-F1 hybrid and four different levels of biogas slurry and urea combination (urea75%+biogas slurry25%, urea50%+biogas slurry50%, urea25%+biogas slurry75% and biogas slurry100%) and only inorganic chemical (75:60:50 kg NPK/ha) as control. All treatments were based on fulfillment of required nitrogen for the crop. The results showed that application of urea50%+biogas slurry50% increased plant height, leaf area, number of leaves and number of nodes at final harvesting. Treatment urea50% + biogas slurry50% allow maximum number of pickings/plant (23.2) and number of fruits/plant (23.5) resulting highest yield/plant (376.3 g). Among the varieties, Jaikisan-62 is superior in terms of growth, yield and post harvest character than Arka Anamika. The net return (Rs. 474,136/ha) and mean B/C ratio was highest (2.59) in Jaikisan-62 treated with urea50%+biogas slurry50%. So, for the commercial production hybrid variety is suggested.
