Character education becomes urgent considering that Indonesia has been experiencing moral degradation. The 2013 curriculum requires all subject teachers to pay more attention to the affective aspect. In Kurtilas, there is an increase in the number of hours on the subjects of PAI (Islamic education) and Budi Pekerti (Moral) in public schools. This study aims to examine the development of character values of junior high school students in the subjects of PAI and Budi Pekerti in the 2013 curriculum. A library research method was employed covering four steps, namely data collection, data reduction, inference and data analysis to extract information from various literatures related to character education, curriculum structure of PAI and Budi Pekerti at SMP level as well as the contents of character education. The results showed that there were character values on each basic competence (KD) on the subjects of PAI and Budi Pekerti. Character values included religious, discipline, tolerance, responsibility, respect, self-control and peace. The implementation could be done by designing better instructions of PAI and Budi Pekertiby choosing the right approach and method.أصبحت التربية الخلقية هامّة لما أصاب إندونيسيا من انحطاط خلقيّ.  اقتضى المنهج الدراسي 2013 جميع مدرّسي المواد الدراسية أن يهتموا أكثر بالجانب العاطفي. كانت في المنهج الدراسي 2013 زيادة ساعات أو حصص لتعليم مادة التربية الإسلامية والأخلاق في المدارس العامة. يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة تنمية القيم الأخلاقية لطلاب المدارس المتوسطة العامة في مادة التربية الإسلامية والأخلاق في المنهج الدراسي 2013.  استخدم الباحث منهج البحث المكتبي وهو يحتوى على أربع خطوات : جمع البيانات، وتخفيض البيانات، والاستدلال وتحليل البيانات للحصول على المعلومات من المصادر المتنوعة المتعلقة بالتربية الخلقية، وهيكل المنهج الدراسي لمادة التربية الإسلامية و الأخلاق للمدارس العامة ومضمون قيم التربية الخلقية فيه. دلت نتائج البحث على أن فيه قيم أخلاقية في كل من معايير الكفاءة في مادة التربية الإسلامية والأخلاق. وهذه القيم الخلقية منها : الدينية، والانضباط، والتسامح، والمسؤولية، وإكرام الغير، وضبط النفس وحب السلام. والتطبيق من هذا يمكن القيام به عن طريق التصميم الأجود لتعليم التربية الإسلامية والأخلاق، وهذا باختيار المدخل والطريقة المناسبين.

<p><span lang="IN">This article aims to describe the development of character values in subjects of Islamic religious education and character in the 2013 curriculum. C</span><span>haracter education is important for students considering that Indonesia is currently experiencing moral degradation. The enactment of the 2013 curriculum or kurtilas has a number of meanings. This study aims to examine the development of character values </span><span>of junior high school students in PAI and Budi Pekerti subjects in the 2013 curriculum. The library research method is used through extracting information from various literatures related to character education, PAI curriculum structure and junior high school characteristics and character education values. found in PAI subjects and manners. The results show that there are character values </span><span>in each basic competency (KD) in PAI subjects and character. The character values </span><span>include religion, discipline, tolerance, responsibility, respect, self-control and peace of mind. Implementation can be done by better designing PAI learning and character by choosing the right approach and method.</span></p>

This study aims at answering the questions what causes many junior high school students fall into drug abuse, and what kind of treatment  must be done so that students have self-control and are not subject to drug abuse. This study employed a phenomenological approach of a qualitative research design.  In this study a semi-structured interview is used to understand how participants experienced the phenomenon. The research revealed that the interpersonal communication has a major role in students' self-control so as not to fall into drug abuse. This study contributes significantly to educational field particularly teachers in secondary schools so that it can be used as a reference to provide counseling to parents about the importance of interpersonal communication to build students’ self-control to prevent teens from falling into drug abuse.

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Jigsaw learning model on mutual respect in grade VIII junior high school students. The study population consisted of 3 classes totaling 72 students. The sample of this research is class VIII students, amounting to 23 students. The determination of the sample class of this study was carried out using random sampling techniques. The research data were obtained through the distribution of pre-test and post-test in which validity were tested using the product moment formula. Research data were analyzed using quantitative techniques through independent sample t-test. The results showed that the use of the Jigsaw learning model had a significant effect on the mutual respect of students in the eighth grade. The results of this study can be a reference for education practitioners and related parties in an effort to instill mutual respect for students in schools, especially in the learning process.These findings can be further research material to find models, methods, or media that can be used by education practitioners and related parties for character education in schools.

Abstrak: Siswa kelas VII SMP idelanya sudah bisa menghasilkan ringkasan cerita yang baik. Akan tetapi sebagaian besar siswa kelas VII SMP di Kecamatan Pemalang masih kesulitan dan tidak tahu cara meringkas cerita yang benar. Selain buku paket dan LKS, sekolah belum menyediakan buku lain untuk mendukung kegiatan belajar siswa dalam memahami pembelajaran meringkas cerita. Penyebab siswa belum tahu tentang cara meringkas yang benar adalah karena buku yang memuat tentang cara meringkas cerita belum ada. masalah tersebut berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa dalam mengembangkan ringkasan yang baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) menganalisis kebutuhan guru dan siswa terhadap buku pengayaan keterampilan menulis (meringkas) bergambar, (2) menyusun prototipe buku pengayaan keterampilan menulis (meringkas) bergambar, (3) mendeskripsikan hasil uji validasi ahli pengembangan buku pengayaan keterampilan menulis (meringkas) bergambar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D).Hasil penelitian ini berupa buku pengayaan bergambar keterampilan menulis (meringkas) yang berjudul Wasis Ngringkes Crita. Kata kunci: buku pengayaan, keterampilan meringkas Abstract: The seventh grade junior high school students have been able to produce a good summary of the story. But most of the VII grade students of SMP in Pemalang Subdistrict are still having difficulties and do not know how to summarize the true story. In addition to textbooks and LKS, schools have not provided other books to support student learning activities in understanding learning to summarize stories. The reason for students not knowing about how to summarize the right one is because the book that contains how to summarize the story does not yet exist. the problem affects students' writing skills in developing good summaries. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the needs of teachers and students for illustrative illustrative writing enrichment books, (2) to compile prototypes of enrichment writing (summarizing) illustrative books, (3) to describe the results of expert validation test writing skills enrichment books ( summarize) pictorial. This research uses a Research and Development (R & D) approach. The results of this study are in the form of a book enriching writing skills (summarizing) pictorial entitled Wasis Ngringkes Crita. The purpose of this study was to find out a comprehensive model of achievement motivation appropriate for Indonesian students. Specifically, this study examined the contribution of task-value, self-efficacy and goal orientation in influencing students’ achievement motivation. The subjects of this research were 393 high school students, 219 of them are female and 174 are male. 46% of them were senior high school and 54% junior, high school students. 45% were from public schools and 55% from religion-based private schools. The task-value, self-efficacy, goal orientation and achievement motivation as scaling instruments used in this study were developed from Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire Manual. The instruments had been tested and proved valid and reliable. Analysis of model testing data was done using technique of confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that the trisula model of achievement motivation was reliable. The task-value, self-efficacy and goal orientation are significant loading factors for achievement motivation. The self-efficacy also is a significant loading factor for the task-value and goal orientation. Keywords: achievement motivation, goal orientation, self-efficacy, task-value

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> Self-control helps junior high school students behave positively towards themselves and others. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the use of local wisdom in the <em>cublak-cublak suweng</em> game to the junior high school student self-control training. The research subjects were 8 junior high school students in Malang City using one group pretest-posttest design. Measurements used the Self-Control Scale and were analyzed by the Wilcoxon test and paired t-test. The results showed a significant difference in the improvement of junior high school students' self-control. Positive values of the <em>cublak-cublak suweng</em> game are internalized so that they can improve the management of their thoughts, emotions, and behavior. The suggestion given is more extensive testing of the same student characteristics.</p><strong>Abstrak:<em> </em></strong>Kontrol diri membantu siswa SMP berperilaku positif terhadap diri sendiri dan orang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan penggunaan kearifan lokal permainan cublak-cublak suweng terhadap pelatihan kontrol diri siswa SMP. Subjek penelitian adalah delapan siswa SMP di Kota Malang dengan menggunakan rancangan <em>one group pretest-posttest design</em>. Pengukuran menggunakan Skala Kontrol Diri dan dianalisis dengan uji <em>Wilcoxon</em> dan <em>paired t-test</em>. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan pada peningkatan kontrol diri siswa SMP. Nilai-nilai positif permainan cublak-cublak suweng diinternalisasikan agar dapat meningkatkan pengelolaan pikiran, emosi, dan perilakunya. Saran yang diberikan adalah pengujian lebih luas terhadap karakteristik siswa yang sama.

The research is an inventory aimed at identifying and categorizing the character values in the English package books for students of Islamic Junior High School or Madrasah Tsanawiyah by considering their relevance to Islamic character values in the Quran and Hadits. The method used was content analysis following Bogdan and Biklen model by analyzing, grouping, sorting, and synthesizing the values taken from the package books to draw the patterns.  The patterns were discussed to conclude the final findings to be disseminated as the list of inventory.  The main data source was the English package books published by the government and the supporting data were the Core Competencies taken from Curriculum 2013 for Junior High School (SMP) and Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) or Islamic Junior High School students. There are 10 values inserted in the package books that are relevant to the Islamic religious characters. The result showed various English expressions relevant to Islamic character values which have a long-term and sustainable effect as a reference for character building by English teachers in developing English supplementary materials for Islamic Junior High School students.
